We'll be moving digital pipe thingies from one thingy to another thingy! This may cause a little trouble as they pull the pipe thing over. I think? That's mostly metaphorical.

Either way, good stuff!
So you are just rearranging the Pipe runs in the Hamster Cage?
Pretty sure they're rearranging the water pipes in the warp core area, maybe to find out what purpose they actually serve (I couldn't find a link to that scene from the 2009 film for some reason).
The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.
I assume that this is going to start the new pay gate that is pay to play without lag? Buy an anti lag token for $20 and receive 1 hour of no lag? Omg FIRE EVERYONE! Internet runs on cables NOT PIPES! Pipes are for liquids!

I thought the internet fluid looked a little thick from my last traceroute to Cryptic's server.

Uhm you can actually say stuff about playing with digital pipes on the forum
And putting them into thingies and what not ?

Hi,
Could we get an interview w/ one of your network engineers working on this, please?

So you're saying that you are rerouting the main computer through the secondary eps conduit. You sure that it won't blow up ?

Unless cryptic's set their building up with a main deflector this can only end badly. :P

We get no communication from members of the network operations centre, and they're the ones I presume that are responsible for server performance and stability, upgrades etc.
Yet we hear nothing from them.
moving digital pipe thingies from one thingy to another thingy!
which is, with all due respect, unprofessional.
Having someone who knows what they're talking about summarise more precisely what's happening, and why, would be nice.
Estimated down time?
Why is it happening?
Is it to fix network issues many have been encountering of late?
Is it an upgrade?
Replacing faulty hardware?
Wavey hands "thingy stuff happening", doesn't help our understanding of what's happening.
Cause if service resumes and there's still network issues for many, lag, SNRs etc, people will start questioning what they even did.
Having a proper understanding at the beginning, helps prevent tears later by informing our expectations.
Quite possible the best post I've read on the forum, and I've lurked a lot.
A little information would go a long way.
I for example, have not been able to patch all of today (just in now, finally). The account server would time out, or it would get to 5% or 20% of patching and then stop.
and the person/people who advanced Cryptic/PWE network up a few hops to allow for multiple backbones to feed them traffic and provide better redundancy and load balancing during peak times, net storms, or one particular provider having a hissy fit. Why not just reverse the polarity of the neutron flow?
Why not just reverse the polarity of the neutron flow?
If you reconfigure the multi-motor refelctor in the process you could improve server capacity by 70%

I agree. Okay I could do without the interview bit. Unless an engineer had nothing better to do on their day off. Cause like, on their workday I like them where they are.
And on the other hand, even a layperson should be able to convert issues that engineers are addressing into something another layperson, even if that layperson exists as an avatar on the internet, can understand.

Lol, seriously, good luck with the... umm stuff.
Oh, any idea on what this actually means 'player side', when finished? Like less lag, or just cooler running servers?

Thanks.
