this special attakc from the baltrim raiders should be modified. 50k damage even in normal, this a little bit too important.
this morning in normal, i was attacked at stage 3 at least at the same moment by 3 baltrim raiders and their famous ramming attack. my vesta has a hull of 58000 (100%); 1 ramming attack at full shields -> 15-25%; second attack well i was dead.
i can tank all the heralds cruisers, even the big (vongh, pongh, or something like that).
Brace for impact works good when you notice your going to be rammed just keep your eyes open for the baltim the ones i struggle with are the mir fighters they do the same ram attack with the same damage.
i cant even spot those little buggers so FAW ,FAW, FAW usually does the trick just pay attention to the battle and keep an eye out for them when they go for the ram brace for impact.
i know all of that, i use FAW + a special doff for brace for impact. I only say that the number of ramming attacks at the same time is too huge. it is like the borg tachyon, every 2 sec in ISA :rolleyes:

And there is also the Mir fighters kamikaze attack uses together with that of raiders.
btw, FAW is almost useless against the raiders, they have too many hp; FAW is great against the fighter that's all, + the FAW attack is random, you are lucky if your beams target the good ships.

I fly a Wells (@ similar hull) and have not had this issue.Faw and Pgen abilities keeps me alive in those Normal STF's.I am also using a hybrid top beam build so if faw dont get em , torp spread do:P

The problem is, even if they did suffer dmg while performing ramming speed, the dmg they would suffer is paltry to their hp value.
Also, one of the biggest underlining issues, is the majority of people go for the cruisers, instead of taking out the problem child's, being the fighters/emp probes/solar gates/viral probes.

I agree with that. The number of people I see spamming chat with "attack the dreadnought, ignore the adds" all whilst team mates are blowing up left right and centre because they've allowed 20+ raiders to spawn and swarm ram them, each for anywhere between 30 and 100K+ damage at a time. When the dreadnought moves off I find it's better to take out any remaining raiders then continue on the dread. The cruisers are a nuisance more than a real threat. Those raiders in large numbers though are enough to bring down your entire team.

i like challenge but where is the challenge when the attacks are ridiculous. If the cruisers were smarter, this would be a real challenge. the cruisers should be able to move faster, have smart attacks. they are too slow, they do always the same thing. the raiders and the fighters shouldn't be the principal threat.
the only advantage of the cruisers is their huge hp, that's all. this is not a challenge, this is not interesting; this is boring. Devs have made a nice work on these cruisers, they should be the major threat.

Yeah those pugs where that happens is when players have no clue how to fight the mission. They waste time fighting the spheres and nusience TRIBBLE so the Icoinan ships and dread keep spawnig them. They also tend to fight the ships between the shipyard and star base instead of going around them. Also the longer the dread lives the more spheres and raiders spawn. Further the players that blow up are the ones who think sitting in one place and pew pew works against Iconians. It doesn't. SO instead of spouting off learn the fight press the attack on the dread and don't get bogged down wasting time on the nusience TRIBBLE like raiders and spheres. Yes the solar gates suck but thats what torp spreads are for. The longer you take the worse it gets.
As far as those raiders go. Keep moving deploy defense turrets if you have them deploy mines and dump warp plasma those little suckers burn real nice. Oh yeah a PDF console goes a long way towards handling them. They are a nusience to me as I do all the above and have yet to have them do more then scratch my shields.
Oh yeah Plasma shockwave works on them as well as the Delta charged particle thing. If you are having issues handling the Icoain PVE's either you haven't learned the fight or are under geared for them.
One hard lesson I learned quickly after my first run in with the raiders... those TRIBBLE don't care if you're cloaked. They'll see right through that and ram your unshielded ship.

But even when I was using a cruiser, they didn't get in a ram. I just keep my distance and fire. I usually take out whatever ship is closest to me. I find the borg instant shield draining stuff a bigger problem then this.

in advanced, baltrim raiders have 130000 hp!! it is a little bit excessive for a raider. i would like to have a real challenge than only huge hp and you are f.... attacks.
why the raiders don't have less hp, the ramming attack less powerful, but the raider flanking skill added. this would be more interesting.
the solar gateway spawned by the Vonph Battleship should be more powerful, after all this gateway uses the power of star. but no! this cruiser and the other have insane hp, and inefficient attacks. Give pedal to the metal, rock and roll etc to the heralds and these stfs would be more interesting.

ramming is like the ultimate in cheesy attacks. but then that's what the iconians are all about is the cheese. the iaidion with its limitless-range sensor scramble, the solar gateways we all hate by now, probe spam (both emp and viral). yea...cheesy
If you're getting rammed enough to be of concern while using something as sweet-flying as a Faeht, you're doing it wrong.
Escorts, Raiders have the luxury of being able to fly much faster, turn much better, handle much better than other ships. Against the Herald Raiders, the best form of defense is simply not be in their way and to fly faster or out turn them. Easy to do in Escorts. Just as long as you keep good situational awareness and don't get too target fixated. You have to know what's going on around you and move and position accordingly.
If your'e flying a Cruiser, I refer you to my Sig. If you're not, Herald Raiders are the number 1 threat to Cruisers. Not Herald cruisers, BBs, Dreads. The Probes will set you up and the Raiders will then bust you up good.
Lastly, when you're fighting Heralds, I put heavier emphasis on Engine Power than with any other PVE content. If you're sporting good Engine Power, if you have Hyper-Impulse type of engines, they will perform that much better. Most especially so with Escorts but my TAC Cruisers survive much easier when they're flying faster against Heralds.
Speed is Life against the Heralds.
So again, heaven forbid the NPCs have an attack that one has to be concerned with.

You misunderstand. What sucks about them is thier range is near as I can tell unlimeted. and unlike "normal" weapons acts more like a tractor beam in the way it never ends.
These aren't much different from the invisible borg torpedoes. Same old oneshot-dead nonsense, different enemy.
On the plus side you can sometimes see the raiders in time to do something. The downside is there are usually a lot of them because no one focuses on them, at least in GtG.

the heralds on ground are really cool, but in space they are disappointing
