I can access the internet, these forums (where I am actually logged in with my PWE account) and any other online or offline game. I even requested a new IP from my router (restarted it). The launcher says "connection to the account server timed out", and when I use the direct gameclient icon, it's stuck at "Connecting to Account Server".
Logging in with a proxy server (EU or US) won't fix it either. Yesterday everything worked fine, I've played STO for many hours in the evening. This isn't the first time I can't access the account server in-game. Infact, there's something wrong every other week or so and this is getting boring. I'm here since Beta and I've lived through so many bad and also good phases of the game, butt right now it just doesn't want to stop misbehaving.
Does any other German or Swiss (or maybe Austrian) player have issues right now with logging into the game via launcher or directly? Is there any other way of logging in?

Same here in the middle of germany. Login Problems yesterday could be fixed with router and computer restart, so it seems. Today I stuck at "Connecting to Controllmatching"... something just by starting the client.
But also annoying is that the Client crashes when I fight at Voth Ground Area. I've done all the things up to now the support told me, like reinstall drivers, reinstall game etc. But the crahes still goes on and on... I don't believe at this point that it realy has something to do with my settings and drivers. This is the second content block to me, the first is the continous failures during advanced stfs with 30min c/d, in fact it means that in work weeks I don't need to try to do any STF.
Have fun take love ignore peace
12:11 Sloved after another Router restart! YEAH!!!!!
I have restarted the whole computer, restarted the router once again ... still no good. The account server is still timing out both in launcher mode and direct client start mode.
I'm somewhat glad I'm not the only Swiss person not being able to log into the game for many hours already. So all I can do is wait and hope, I guess. Tomorrow I'll try again. It's just that I'd have liked to finish the Iconian reputation before my short holiday is over. If I had a chance to do the rep today, I would have stayed on track.

Okay ... server purrsonel ... could you please have a look at this? Obviously Switzerland is out of reach for your account server (three people having the same issue) since last night. It's like 20 hours already.

Same problem here. Can't play STO since today, yesterday everything was fine. Nothing helped.
Always get the following error message:
Unable to authenticate: Connection to the account server timed out
Wow, so out of not too many Swiss STO players, already FOUR of them report in these forums that they get an account server time out ... and everyone since last night.
I even changed my password to make sure that I was typing in the correct password. No matter if you enter the wrung or right password, the same error appears.
So, the thread was moved, at least it's been spotted by a moderator. I'd really hope that it gets relayed to a technician at PWE or Cryptic. It's mainly Switzerland being cut off the game, maybe not the whole country, butt most likely the German part of Switzerland. It is definately not our end this time, it's your end.
PS: I will install a second copy of the game through Arc (which I never do usually). The advantage is that you're already logged in when you're in Arc, so technically the log in process in the launcher could be skipped and maybe therefore I could get into the game. This will take two full days since it's a lot of data being downloaded. If that doesn't help either, I'll uninstall both copies of the game and take a sirius long break.

Me and 4 from the .eu Forum. One of which stated to be Swiss, too.

I am also using Swisscom. Made less problems than most of the other stuff until today.

im still working onthis nettest, which i just cant seem to get running..
I am using Swisscum / Bluewin as well. I will call tech support from Bluewin and tell them about the issue. Maybe it's Bluewin's fault after all (port forwarding has never been an issue so far, maybe they locked us out for whatever reason). However, I would be really glad if Cryptic could also check their end of the server. It has to be either Cryptic or Bluewin then.
Thanks for the numerous replies and or the traceroute report! Now it's crystal clear that the issue is only for Swiss customers using Bluewin / Swisscum as their internet provider. Something is wrung there.
Tomurrmeow evening I will be able to log in directly from Arc and then I hope it's no longer an issue.
Pinging the patchserver is not the issue, by the way, it's the account server. The patch server works perfectly fine. I will now try using the US proxy once more, maybe it works now. EDIT: No, picking any proxy won't work either.

UPDATE: I just made it in! How about you guys? It's been like 24 full hours and now it works again. I also had a chat with Swisscum support and they reported to me that no special issues or updates have been done in the last 24 hours on their end of the servers.
So yeah, it seems that the account server is doing a 24 hour cycle and restarts or something ... good for me, hopefully also good for the other Swiss trekkies out there!

I don't think Swisscum did anything. The call agent said nothing has been reported faulty. Funny enuff, just when I called support, I was suddenly able to log in. I think the account server is on a 24 hour cycle until refreshing it's IP or whatever ... and appurrently for the last 24 hours we couldn't reach it.

It was Swisscom, other people had issues too with other games (secret world) and even Reddit was not reachable anymore. Eventually I called support around 8pm and others did too during the day. They said that issue is known and are working on it.
That's funny ... why did my Swisscum agent on the phone say there was no known issue over the last 24 hours? Wow, the left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing. Thanks for the update, Patrokolus.

Out of interest are the other swiss users on Swisscom?
Couldnt log in 12 hours ago with the same error, and now the same error persists.
Bites as its a public holiday tomorrow.
