Picking a Pilot Raptor (or three)...

Hey there,

So I'm contemplating buying one of the new Pilot Raptors, and I'm wondering if I should be aiming to get the 3-pack instead. My first impulse was the Klavek, the LtC Sci station seems kind of compelling. But what about the other two? Can the case be made to buy one of the others instead? Or instead of "instead," "in addition to?"

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)

By whatever bundle suits you. If you don't, you'll just punish yourself pricing wise if you don't do so now.

Buy a single ship? No discount for you!

I like em all. And if you like cheese consoles and good times, you won't regret it.

Personally I like the flexibility that a science LtCmdr offers (fun with gravity well!!!) but if you want to really use the Pilot boff powers then the tac version would let you use high-level Pilot stuff while still having a slot for APO1. Maybe dink around with stoacademy first, try out a couple build ideas, see what give and take you get.

I'll be honest because I asked myself if I should even buy this and being that the ships will become obsolete in 4-12 months. I can't really justify buying any new stuff plus the fact that it went from grind for sinks for dilithium to zen and such that they lost the direction of what gaming is supposed to be about having fun. So being its not really any fun anymore, the over priced ships, and the fact they will obsolete there really isn't any point in buying them. Although I have been a KDF player for majority of its existence in STO but I've come to the point that I can't be a loyal player to them any longer.

I am in the same boat as you, the Chinese MMO model is really killing the game here, it's supposed to be fun. Something that has been lost by the devs, or maybe they are just being told what to do by Perfect World.

Either way I now look at the over-priced ships and more often than not skip them. It doesn't help that there are no cross faction bundles that let you pick 1 ship from each faction (a tact klingon, science fed etc) so it's even less compelling for me to buy the packs.

I really don't see the point in the 3 pack faction ships. You're buying the same ship 3 times, just with a slightly different skin. Shouldn't the skins come with the single ship, and just have a universal BOFF station to allow different builds? Value for money just isn't there, and really never was when you think for a T5 ship you pay $20 (approx) pretty expensive. I can buy an entire Trek novel for $10AU (the latest ones too), much better value.

I continue to support the KDF, just not with my purchases.

    I totally agree!

Also the Eng version makes a killer a2b setup because with Hold Together, it doesn't need any aux power for heals, just full throttle and ST!

Not going to bother until they release a t6 BOP.... Only bought the cruisers for All Hands On Deck trait...and I regret buying the 9 pack which I only did for the costume bits...

Bought all three this past weekend. I did it primarily to have the ability to mix'n'match parts for aesthetic reasons. Leveled up the Engineering version. Love it! Hard hitting, fast, fantastic turn rate. Five forward and two aft weapons and one of my aft is a 360 turret, so that gives me 6 forward weapons. Strafing runs are devastating. I actually added a forward torpedo to my build. The strafing run takes shields down so quickly that it actually pays to throw a torpedo while enroute to the target via strafing run. In a word...brilliant!

Also, these reminded me a little of a classic Klingon ship look. I've mothballed my Fleet K'tinga retrofit T5-U and Fleet Tor'khat T5-U in favor of flying one of these. I prefer the Engineering model.

Bought the 9pk when it came out, no regrets at all. I so far prefer the ENG variant for RSP, or the Sci variant. However the Tact ship is great too, all good, no regrets.

I am actually getting the least use from the Fed ones, but that is because of my 12 toons, only 2 are Feds.

Using the KDF ones for my Ferasan Characters.

The ships don't feel Klingon to me, so using them for a KDF allied species sits well with me. My KDF Tact & ENG still use the Mat'Ha which I also love.

I bought the Command 3pk, I like them, I just like other ships more. I am using them on my Orion Engineer.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth
