Delta Recruits?

dukhattdukhatt Member Posts: 236 Arc User
Howdy great peeps,

So, today the event ends but I am wondering, I want to create a few more characters,
but do I HAVE to level them a bit in order for them to become Delta Recruits?

Or can I just create them & click "Yes I will do the tutorial",
for them to become Delta Recruits?

Best regards,
Duk

You have to play at least far enough to get your Tesseract Communicator, and possibly to the end of the tutorial (the game notes are a trifle unclear on this point). OTOH, this shouldn't take long at all.

Hmmm I see, but the Delta Recruitment page says:

"Characters made during this time will be Delta Recruits."

So it seems logical that once you made them,
they basically already ARE Delta Recruits?

They are not Delta Recruits until they get the Tesseract Communicator. The Communicator is the way that the game determines which character is a Delta Recruit and which one is not. Therefore, if your main character made before the Delta Recruit event obtained a Tesseract Communicator through some method, then they would become a Delta Recruit. Of course, this would be considered an exploit using some bug assuming that such a method existed.

Right after talking to my future self in the tutorial and given the communicator (maybe 5 minutes right after character creation if you skip the cutscenes), I was given the Delta Recruit title, the Delta Recruit Accolade, and access to the Delta Recruit's special interface thingie.

Due to all that, I am 99.31459% sure that that is the point at which the game acknowledges you as a Delta Recruit officially.

There are 2 things you need to do to be a 'Delta Recruit.'

    1. Create the Character before the Patch tomorrow (May 21st.)

    2. Complete the Tutorial on that Character.

That's it.. you're a Delta Recruit. The tutorial will end with you talking to your 'future self' and getting the device. If you have seen that cinematic, you're a Delta Recruit.

If you create a character before the cutoff but do not complete the tutorial you will not be considered a Delta Recruit.

That is incorrect. I just got the device from my future self today, it occurs about 5 minutes into the tutorial, not even close to the end of it. See what I posted right before your post.

That's not the end of the tutorial. Hence the confusion, because the dev blogs say you have to finish the tutorial.

Yes there is another guide popup that occurs after you complete the tutorial and talk with the Temperal agent that seems to "activate" the device, running thru about 4 tutorials on the kdf side to round out my open slots since it is rather quick to do and level to 10 is you so desire in a short amount of time.

Just checked my characters on the selection screen, and they BOTH have the "Delta Recruit" purple triangle symbol icon next to their names. Again, all I did was get the trasmission device from my future self, nothing more, not even a single step. I am not by any means close to finishing the tutorial. Both of my characters also have full access to the Delta Recruit window with 44 accomplishments I can earn, as well as the "Delta Recruit" accolade that says that I am one.

I really am pretty sure that you don't need to talk to the temporal agent, nor finish the tutorial to be labeled as a delta recruit for good. At least I really hope not, as my internet isn't good enough to actually play right now, and doesn't seem like it will be until probably tomorrow evening :/

Something doesn't seem right though. If that is correct, my characters will be labeled Delta Recruits, have access to the Delta Recruit task page (see my last post), and all that other stuff, but will be completely unable to achieve or do any Delta Recruit things at all if that's true. That just wouldn't make any sense.

It's possible that when they made that Q&A, they had all of that pre written months ago, and marketing was unaware of exactly how it worked and/or that it might have even changed.

If you don't complete the entire tutorial and receive the device, you're not a delta recruit.

Then why do my characters have a labeling Delta Recruit on the character select screen, have the Delta Recruit symbol, the Delta Recruit accolade, the Delta Recruit title, and have acces to the Delta Recruit task menu?

Again, I am aware what you quoted, but it's possible things have change since that faq was written likely months before early April when it was posted, or that is was never right to begin with.

I have no idea why your character works that way, but none of the recruits I made did.

Ultimately, it's up to you.. the event ends tomorrow. The tutorial is short, it's best you just get through it to make sure. If you believe you have already met the requirements then great, but according to the guidelines posted by Cryptic you have not. If you say it worked, I have no reason to doubt you, I was just trying to answer the OP's question based on the information I knew to be true from my personal experience.

If you say that you didn't need the tutorial, then I believe you. But it didn't work that way for me.

Okay, the "special tutorial" would appear to be where you talk to yourself (as opposed to the standard tutorial). I had the DR trait, the purple triangle, and the special sub-menu just after talking to myself on Virinat (rerolled my favorite Romulan, Tovan Khev).

Then I went ahead and completed the tutorial, because it was less than ten minutes after that anyhow.

I'm just worried that the Temporal Agent is part of the "special tutorial" too, as I didn't get there. I have no chance of being able to get to it tonight (or past the launcher even) due to my internet.

I will post my results tomorrow though, if I am indeed a Delta Recruit or not.

I doubt it will be the last time they run this event. I suspect we'll probably see another one of these events happen later in the year or maybe next year, if they limit it to a 'once a year' type deal.

Sucks if you miss out tonight though. I need to create a few delta recruits myself.

The confusion is over where the special tutorial ends, is it once you speak to yourself and get the device with speaking to the agent just being an infomation for recruits spot and not needed, or is speaking to the agent the final part of the speci tutorial. Personally I think it's the first option because you receive all of your titles and acolades etc at that point, but to be sure I've run all of my extras except one all the way through to the agent visit just in case, I left one at the earlier point to test when I get home tonight.

    So my results:

I am still at the start of the tutorial, right after I talked to my future self on both my Starfleet and Klingon character. They both still have the Delta Recruit purple triangle icon, the Delta Recruit title, access to the Delta Recruit task sreen/menu, and the Tesseract Communicator. I'm quite sure they are still Delta Recruits, despite not finishing the entire tutorial. Unfortunately I'm at work at the moment, and all I could manage to do was a quick login with my laptop to check that. I won't be able to progress at all until later tonight. I'll see if I can still find/talk to the Temporal Agent then.

    Hope this helps.

I have one toon that is just about to start Communication breakdown, is still listed as a cadet, but has the full ability to use the Delta Recruit menu.

Will update if anything changes at the star base.

From what I remember from both the kdf and fed tutorial, if I'm not mistaken, is that you talk to the temporal agent twice. The first time you talk to the agent is when you receive the tesseract device during the special tutorial; the second time you speak to the agent is at the end of the special tutorial. The distinction between speaking to him the first time and the second time is that the special DR menu remains blocked and blacked out until you've finished the special tutorial and spoken to him a second time. After that, you get the special DR accolades and the DR menu unlocks. This should have been properly explained in a blog as well as in a warning in the launcher itself.

Everything looks good Fed side anyways. Temporal agent Cray is still in ESO, and able to communicate with him.

He needs to stay there for a long time. He is the one to contact for your non-delta toons for collecting the account rewards.
