R&D Starter Pack Discrepencies

I wanted to make sure my deltalt had an ideal mix of duty officers for R&D without bumping up the default 100 officer limit. After looking at the duty officers actually used in R&D assignments and comparing it to what emergency holograms come in the R&D starter back, I noticed some discrepancies.

There is no Maintenance Engineer ER&DH in the starter pack. These are used to construct science and engineering consoles.

The following ER&DH are included in the pack, but I do not see any projects requiring them:
  • Explosives Expert
  • Damage Control Engineer
  • Diagnostic Engineer
  • Development Lab Engineer

I am wondering if the project requirements were adjusted at one point but the starter pack wasn't. It pretty clearly should include a Maintenance Engineer. The others, at least for the KDF, make wonderful fodder to immediately execute for incompetence since they can't do the thing you acquired them for, R&D!

are these the holos? yeah they have little use for anything. They're like commons, only worse. Hmm... I think I'll start calling them grey rarity. I usually banish them to Cardassia or something.

Explosives expert is useful for doing the 250 dilithium DO mission.

That's not an R&D project, however.

They CAN be used for officer exchanges and Changeling Spies. Particularly useful on the KDF side.

That is what I meant when I said "banish them to Cardassia". :P

All I ever used them for was Execute Mutineers, Execute Changeling, Allow Crippled Warrior to Suicide (or whatever it was called)...you get the pattern. :D

On feddies, I just dismissed them all. They could theoretically be used for officer exchange, but officer exchange with traitless whites is not good enough odds to justify tying up 20 doff roster slots for however long it took to exchange them all.

odds are you'll get a green. Which is a LOT better than a traitless white. :P
