Could we eventually combine one weapons appearance with anothers abilities?

For instance, I really enjoy the look of my wrist lance, as well as my flamethrower plasma fires of doom. I would really like it if I could use my wrist lances appearance, but give it the fire spewing of the flamethrower. A friend pointed out that Neverwinter had a similar system in place, could it be done in STO?

    I honest to Q hope so. I would like to give my Omega Autocarbine the appearance of those sexy Fleet Phaser rifles. :cool:

    When I heard they were redoing the crafting system I thought this is the route they would go. Chose a skin, chose the energy type, chose a primary type, chose a secondary type, chose mods.

    So much for what I think.

    Maybe in the next crafting update. It isn't like they've changed the system four times in as many years, right?
