Adding more GRIND just pisses people off.

So, let me get this straight, you are going to retire the summer Pearls because veteran members have built up too much inventory? Then, you are going to retire ships, so that new players can't even get the older ships that veterans from previous summers events can fly around? Lastly, every fraken year you are going to change the cancel the slotted summer events progress, meaning if they don't complete it during the summer event they can't get the ship, and change the currency necessary to get the next year's ship? Does that sound about right; because what it sounds like to me is you are again adding grind to something that didn't need grind in the first place INSTEAD of improving content within the game and FIXING bug issues.

Wow, I will say this with ABSOLUTE certainty. You are killing this MMO one update at a time, and personally even if you do have another season after this one, there may not be enough players left to give a s***.

    Whether or not the players give a **** is irrelevant. It's obvious that the devs don't give a **** and only care about money. All they know is Pay or Grind, Pay-to-Grind, Pay-to-Gamble, Grind-to-Gamble, and Grind-to-Pay. Notice a trend here?

    Thank goodness Cryptic manages to do something every week that gets the same group of people, week after week, ticked off. :)
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Need to start a betting pool for how long it takes the rage posts to start whenever cryptic does something.
    Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

    I don't care about the currency change, the idea that you can have an event finished even before it starts is ... it doesn't make any sense at all, from a gameplay perspective


    what I am upset about is that they remove ships, that's very upsetting. and from a gameplay perspective --- about the stupidest thing I can think of

    I am glad you understand that I am an adult whose life does not revolve around this game. When I dislike a game I simply stop playing it. I do not waste my life doing things I do not enjoy. A person who does that would be my definition of an idiot drone. YMMV

    So, in other words, you don't have perspective. You put your opinion before the longevity of the very game you claim to enjoy, no? You said that if you don't like something, you just don't bother. So if you do bother with something, it stands to reason that you enjoy it. Otherwise, why else be here? Which leads into my next point... The very fact that you are here saying anything at all, by your explanation of yourself, means you are only here to do 1 of 2 things.... give the devs a pat on the back or put down those who you consider to be "idiot drones". Neither of which is productive or beneficial for the longevity of the game itself. With that being said, within the context of the game because that's what the forums are here for, it would make much more sense for people whose "life revolves around this game" to chime in because they have a better perspective on the game than you.

    Just read the interesting news. Very interesting. Just a little disturbed that all those pearls I saved up can't be used for the new ships and stuff, but at least there's some decent stuff to get with the leftover pearls. I just hope the new stuff they bring will be worth it.

    So in a curious turn of events my decision to never grind anything ever sorta pays off here. Not sure if it's intended but all this announcement told me is to carry on never grinding anything ever.

    Am I the only one that thinks they're just going to re-release the Risian Corvette and Luxury Cruiser at T6 and with specialist seats (and requiring the new event currency), and then add some sort of similar science vessel to the mix?

    And, by the way, I don't have a problem with that. No one had to pay to upgrade the old Risian event ships, and this gives them a way to increase the relevance of the old designs. Requiring the new currency is just a way of incentivizing daily log-ins, which is the bread-and-butter of F2P MMOs the world over.

    They are changing up the event, offering something new to play for, and giving some extras so some players past work didn't go to waste. I'm still failing to see what the frothing from the mouth is for.

    Meh ... I'm not sure if Cryptic is aware ... but they actually made it "less grindy" while introducing "more Grind" ...

    I spent lots of time on Risa collecting Pearls & Favors on multiple Toons, during the last Summer Event ... but given the recent change I can't see myself spending more than 3min, on one Toon ... why would anyone ?

    So unless they introduce lots of amazing new Events & Items like Diving, Cliff Jumping etc ... Risa is going to be a Ghost-Town this year afaik ...
    Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.

    Doubt it will be a ghost town at all. Free ship... nothing more need be said.

    "Free Ship" for which you'll only need to spend 3min every day ... with absolutly no point in doing it on more than 1 Toon ... nothing more need to said.
