Need Advice Viral Matrix

With the new STF missions being deluged with viral matrix, and intel boff shutdowns, i was hoping people could give (reasonable) suggestions to combat/prevent constant shutdowns.

Now my toons tend to..

Have skills in inertial dampeners
  • I have eng team for the heal
  • Sci team (though i never see it actually cleanse Viral matrix plus have to withhold it for subnuclear carrier wave)
  • Boffs with leadership
  • Some toons have the T1 console that repairs/boosts energy levels
  • Batteries


Even with these I still get points where i get multi shutdowns,

Is there a skill that gives immunity? Extreme resistance?

Two things i know of that are not viable for me, (cost) are the doff that heals debuffs with EPtx and red matter capacitor, so they are off the table.
(not using intel ships on all my characters so intel team is off the table too)

So.. Suggestions please! :D

    Unfortunately, I haven't really found a good counter to it other than to just suffer through the spam-cheese. I find even cleansing Viral Matrix with Engineering Team doesn't always work properly.

    I really think players should just get the same disable-immunity periods NPCs get.

    The only thing I really recall stopping it outright is the Voth Bastion's Reactive Immunity Matrix(which even blocks subnukes). Other Immunities like Rock and Roll might as well if you can time them pre-emptively, but I haven't actually tried to test it. I imagine the life-support Command Ability would work as well, but there are obvious limitations with that.

    The Nukara 2-set and Iconian Shield have automated procs to bring weapons and shields back online, respectively. There are a myriad of engines that can either restore themselves or still (partially) function while offline.


    Otherwise, just save your Engineering Team and EPtX abilities for when you really need to bring an important system back online.

    BFAW kills EMP probes dead.

    If you stay moving, the ionic turbulence will either miss you entirely or you'll fly right out of the cloud. Having something that provides mobility with engines disabled (pilot spec is easiest) helps if you get hit with one while stopped.

    Eng team for the occasional random disable.

    FAW will kill the probes fast before you can get infected.

    If you're in a ship that can use command powers, Reroute Power from Life Support will make you immune to any system shutdown. It's the only reason I've found to actually use that power. Works nice against the tholians too.

    Engineering Team will clear any VM infection but the probes can spam VM faster than ET can cycle.

    Eng team cleans correctly Viral Matrix, just use it when the icon of vm debuff appaers on the buff/debuff tray. 6 points in inertial dampers is enough to counter well the effect, while using aux to dampeners will help you a lot against disable effects out there like emp probes or ionic turbulence. An efficient way to eliminate emp probes is to kill them with aoe skills like bfaw o csv, possibly with precise trait, or with sci ones, like tbr, gw, drb, tr ;)
    Ah, for ionic turbulence, just use hazard emitter to prevent the disable effect or use a good quantity of speed to move out of the disable cloud and/or avoiding it completely. Remember, after the iot effect, you will have an immunity period, so you can return into the cloud and eventually help other teammates ;)

    In the new Iconian space missions I use ET. Although in particularly spammy matches you may just have to suffer through attack after attack if you are on cd. I do and it is annoying.

    I run Science torpedo boats and have found CPB (especially when coupled with the damaging Secondary Deflector) damages all enemies and probes within the radius. I use CPB more offensively that defensively though. Photonic Shockwave is similar on a smaller scale, TBR's push and damage probes, TS does also when probes are targeted, and even Tractor beam can hold and damage them somewhat. Tyken's Rift and Gravity Well also work.
