Founders - getting my clock cleaned..

Playing through the missions as a Delta recruit..

Flying an Ha'apax Warbird (given to me through normal levelling process) and outfitted with plasma beams and infusers XII and everything else X-XII...

Getting totally wiped out by a mogul heavy warbird and respawning too far away to keep any progressive damage from sticking.

I can't skip the mission (I assume) as a delta to get the rewards/unlocks but I'm at a loss besides upgrading to a bigger badder ship.

Is there any "trick" or technique I can use to beat up this warbird? I seem to be particularly vulnerable to its kinetic damage.

Thanks!

(Only 14 days left in the delta event and I really cant afford a timeout)...

    1. what level are you?
    2. what class are you?

tac can use fire on my mark to weaken him.

also, fire at will and attack pattern beta really helps

Sorry, L51 Fed Aligned Rom Tac

(Yes, FAW II already on board...ship currently balanced to 100% attack - I suppose that's something I can fiddle with now that I notice...)

    which mission is that?
its possible that you could take a teammate in with you and dbl team him.

Possible - but honestly I need to up my game a little anyway. I admit to not being as well versed in my abilities as I would like - even though I have a fair grasp of common builds I need to improve my knowledge of abilities, skills, etc.

Am in a small guild, people not often on, and to be honest I don't think I've ever gotten a team up outside of my guild, too many distractions in Real Life to do a lot of teaming up, something else I need to learn more.

I suddenly realized, this is a new recruit - I've probably only done the very basics with skills - I'm going to get on that *Right Now*...that oughtta help. I wonder what else I forgot to setup with this new recruit...did some basic Boff setup (time to do more), did some basic build setup, almost completely forgot about skills.

And since he's now 50+ maybe its time to move to an "endgame" ship...

The Mogai's are tactical "escorty" ships like you. Packing a mix of cannons, beams, and their favorite BOff skill is Tac Team...

    1. Play the "avoidance" game. Sides are best, back is passible.

    2. Save your "big" powers for after the TT effect ends...

    3. What you got in science? Tractor beam or some CC/disable really makes him cry.

    4. Did I mention no jousting?

    Quick thoughts...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Suggest if you can't do anything else, get within 10Km, hit him and head back to your spawn point with him following you. this may take some time, but if nothing else works it will get him near enough to your respawn to not have him reset.

I know, it's cop-out, but it works in a pinch.

You can also try to "stay away", staying on the edge of the weapons range (8-9 km), so able to get quickly beyond the weapons range to fix before coming back to punch more hits. It can take a while to take down a ship that way, but this tactic worked for me when nothing else did. If you have plasma torpedoes, they'll be pretty useless, but so will his ;)

tach beam really rules against him too as well. I fly a cruiser so I like to get in REAL close so when he fires his torps... he kills himself.

It hurts but it's funny to watch him kill himself killing you

I started the avoidance route, darn things are maneuverable and once you come in range they head right for you so I couldn't play the duck-just-out-of-range game. After upping my skills I went from hardly making a dent to more than half damaging it...now to refine speedy avoidance.

Was doing shield regen for science...tractor beam is a good idea...

About jousting, heh yeah well, that's how I got my hat handed to me on a platter at first.

    Thanks!

After a couple more runs I nailed it.

it took avoidance at max speed, I zoomed in and made fast adjusted circles, and I had to absolutely make sure everything was used as soon as it came off cooldown...boy that's an area I admit I needed work in..

My endgame choice for this character will be a battlecruiser, I'll try that fly close tactic sometime and enjoy the show!

High yield torps can be shot down. Also use tactical team to keep your shields balanced. Be sure to approach him cloaked to max the bonus from your bridge officers on decloaking (satra and to an both have romulan operative, so do you, this gives you a big critical hit boost as you decloak)

Some later mogai like to drop cloaked tractor beammines, you can also shoot those down.

As best you can, focus on o e shield, recloaking helps to circle him without getting shot but you need to time it right so he doesn't hit you with a torp while your shields are down.

Nimbus gives a device that let's you summon allied ships to help. The mission "vault" also gives you three fighters, and on the auction house for about 10k ec you can get some satellite turrets that will shoot him.

As a tactical, use your attack pattern alpha to stack with thedecloak bonus and tactical team gives a damage bonus. If you have directed energy modulation and emergency power to weapons, use these too. Stack al those before you decloak. Then before you fire, hit him with fire on my mark.

Now you have a window of about ten seconds where you will absolutely demolish him. You probably won't kill him,but you should be able to burn him to like 50-60% hull. Meanwhile, you'll still be 90% or higher.

If you can time it so you're closer than 6k when you decloak and unload on him so much the better.but you should be able to finish him off from this point or cloak again, circle and repeat if needed.

Also, use either the absorption singularity power or singularity jump. Don't use the others. Sing jump has a huge accuracy rebuff and small damage component so it will keep you alive while hurting him. Absorption is an amazing tanking power.

For other fights the plasma wave is great vs fighters or ddridex when they drop the triple high yield torpedoes of dooooooom. Warp shadow doesn't do much of anything and the overload power is not so hot but does give a damage boost just smaller than the plasma wave and singularity jump usually.

Congratulations on beating the Mogai. From what I remember, Mogai's carry tractor beam mines. An easy way to get past these is to either have "polarize hull" or "attack pattern omega". "Auxilliary power to intertial dampeners" also helps but not as much as the first two.

Tactical team is a must have to auto balance your shields to the facing you are taking damage on. You can also turn your ship around and have your target fire on your other shield facings if your tactical team is on cooldown or your manual shield balancing is too slow.

A quick and easy way to deal with mines or destructible torpedoes is to use either "cannon scatter volley" or "beam fire at will", depending on your loadout.

And if all else fails, run away with "evasive maneuvers" or "ramming speed". Not every day is a good day to die. Well unless your ramming speed happens to intersect with a passing ship. That's just tough luck.

As a side note, your delta recruit will stay a delta recruit even after the event. The end of the event will only prevent you from making more delta recruits so if you wanted, you can create several other delta recruits by simply making a character and playing through the tutorial. They'll just sit in your character select screen until you feel like you want to play with a new character.

    Cheers!

Well, my Delta Recruit tac caitian just got her clock cleaned in melee ground combat against the Founder from The New Link.

Pretty embarrassing really. Even managed to die twice.

did you wade out into the slime pond with your boffs following behind?

Park the boffs well away from the pond in that gully you walk along to reach the founder, all defensive, you advance and pop a few rounds into it, and lure it onto dry land well away from the pond, you run around it firing for all you're worth, get it's attention and keep it, let your boffs do flanking damage etc.

Delta recruit? Use the temporal adjuster if you and most of the boffs fall, otherwise if you go down, hit help on the respawn prompt, a boff will come to your aid.

what is this you're talking about?

Or is it the paradox thing, one of the two items you get from delta, one ground one space, device that 'turns back time', ground version basically revives you and any downed members of your team to 50% health, if 'dead' (under certain conditions, always read the label, lol).
