this lag is really getting out of controle first in space and now affecting ground. Think I'm gonna go play Star Wars TOR for now till they fix this lag it's becoming unplayable. I really wanna keep playing STO but this lag is making it impossible to play

Its funny that you mention SWTOR cause thats actually where i went when i uninstalled STO about 2 months ago. But just 2-3 days ago i've been getting bored of SWTOR and thought i would check out other games again (STO being one of them). I reinstalled loaded up the game, wanted to try out a delta recruit but i couldnt even get past character selection due to the been there done that feeling. Uninstalled, but then yesterday i decided maybe i was too hasty and thought about reinstalling again but then i am seeing all these lag threads. I saw them before a week ago but thought nothing of it, but now that people are linking them to possible command ship/trait issues? yah i said TRIBBLE STO, i'm gonna keep playing SWTOR or maybe look at Rift or something else.
My games been pretty stable been playing Voth Battle Zone, Kobali prime, doffing, flying through sector space, did Cure and Khitomer space on normal with no issues. Then i did an Infected on Advanced with the dps10k channel and the lag and rubber banding was god dam awful. Then back to VBZ and not a single glitch.
Infected is the most broken map from my personal experience in this entire game at present for lag and Rubber banding
I feel your pain OP, I've suffered terrible lag until recently, it was even getting so bad it was difficult to log on a just doff. Fortunately for me since the last patch I've not had any lag at all.
I ask because I have/had AVG on my PC and I turned it off briefly and suddenly my computer raced ahead and did not even have the login issue I usually have since season 10.

I don't use anti-virus as i run the game on a iMac. However before having to replace my old iMac with this new one i did run windows 7 64bit via bootcamp with a i5 quad core 3.2ghz processor, 8gb ram and a radeon hd 4850 graphics card with no anti-virus and still had lag issues. So although i agree anti-virus settings can slow down machines. They aren't the cause of the lag.
I've mentioned before the biggest culprit for lag seems to be infected space. I do get lag intermittently in other maps but nothing compared to this map i can guarentee lag or rubber banding spikes every match and the lag differs between pugging and premades with premades being more affected

Infected isn't the culprit, but due to being a relatively small map, it does seem to highlight it more.
One of the biggest causes seems from many of our points of view is the command ships and all the new traits and team based abilities and procs
you are right i do remember before my old mac broke running a SB24 solo in a fleet Akria and it had some pretty nasty lag spikes.
It is a wide spread issue. I guess i only notice it more in Infected as DPS 10k/30k members are bound to have very well specced toons firing off traits and skills that the old commodore 64 running the game engine can't crunch the numbers required. Time Cryptic updated their pc's, that machine is over 20 years out of date

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.

Why should you care about the lag ? Come on open your wallets.... Who cares if you cannot play the game ? They certainly don't ?
