I'm sure in time, Commando will be expanded to be a full primary tree as well, with new ground powers that can be used by our BOffs (and us)... that seems to be the direction they're going...

One I'd like to see as well. I'd like to spec Boffs and skill set them for things like this as well.
Depends on what you strive for, I guess. The game is very heavy for space combat. Because of this, I will devote more time, resources for improved capability in space compared to ground.
Would I devote 30 Specialization Points for a mix Ground/Space Spec like Command & Intel? You bet I would. Actually, I have.
Would I devote 30 Specialization Points for a Pure Space Spec, i.e. Pilot? Yes, Yes I would and I have a character that saved up all his points specifically for that, ready and waiting when the Pilot ships come out (I didn't commit and spent the points yet... "I want to see the money first" kind of deal).
Would I devote 30 Specialization Points for a Pure Ground Spec, i.e. Commando? No way I would.
There's some interesting things in Commando I'd love to try, but since it's Pure Ground (the final space trait/ability is quite terrible and not a good feature, IMO), I would not sacrifice 30 points for it. I haven't even bought off 1 single point for its current 15 point cost.
While I believe they would want to make Commando a full Specialization as well, I also doubt it is a very high priority and will keep getting pushed off for other things. This is because it is ground only. You can't make a Commando ship if all the abilities are ground based. No ship means no money to be made off of it.

Just a counterpoint. It also means they don't have to make any ships. Sell a commando uniform pack for the factions, preferable with slight diffence for each faction. and new boff in the cstore. Maybe vaadwaur a fully customizable one could sell nicely. Plus only need ground skills so it would take a lot less work.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Mmmm, counterpoints. I LOVE them.
I'd like to see more cross-faction specialization uniforms in general, actually, along the vein of the Intel uniforms. Also, that's not the only way you could monetize a shipless specialization. Selling additional training manuals/kit moduals, for instance.
On the other hand, who said specialization ships have to feature appropriate BOFF powers? How about a gimmick that buffs the Commando ship in some way if it has 1-2 BOFFs with Commando specs active. It could be a troop transport ship or a MACO/KHG-themed deployment vessel. Or something.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

About a ship that actually enhances ground combat? BOff powers that buff ground abilities much like DOffs do. The first possible power that comes to mind is "Air Strike." A BOff slotted on your bridge (NOT brought on the away mission) allows you to call for air support, much like Orbital Strike.

No but its an additional 15 specialization levels to play for which keeps players interested. There's direct and indirect monetization. This is the latter, and in this case it requires less work than another full primary spec.

How about, "I like you, I'll kill you last." Which I could see working in one of two ways:
1. X% damage there is only one enemy in Y meters.
Or in other words, if there's only one enemy a certain distance from you, you get a damage bonus. I could also see it working by reducing the bonus per enemy around. Say it was 25% bonus, and it was reduced by 5% for every enemy within that certain radius. So if you had 5 enemies, you'd get no bonus, but as you killed each one, you'd do more and more damage.
2. X% damage for 10 seconds on the first target you attack when combat begins. Bonus ends if target dies or you switch targets. Can happen once every 30 seconds.
To explain this one, it's a bit closer to the movie reference I made, in that you kill that target first before any others. So as long as you focus only on that target, you'd get a good bonus to damage for a bit. The lockout period is for balancing.

More options are always a good thing.
I would love an away team of all Commando's.. that would be great.
30 points for all ground. Yeah. Right
That's a given, so?
Not as crazy as it sounds since you can toggle your active primary spec.
I actually have ground toons, so yeah! Right!
Honestly, I just hope that it has a shield heal and a health heal for kit powers. My tac captains die to easily.
Also, I'm sure that it'll be commando BOffs on ground or go home.
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!

Ahnuld movies? Like Predator, Total Recall, Terminator, etc?
If there was ever a real-life ground-specced tac, it would be him.
Yesss. That would be awesome.
I can even see it: new Commando new powers: "I'll be back" and "Hasta la vista baby"
Actually, a useful power based on Kindergarten Cop: Nanny. Enhances BOff AI so the away team doesn't get lost on the map...
Not sure if you meant AI..but yes. So much want for Commando spec. for Boffs!
