Why was the Skip function disabled for the Iconian missions?

tilartatilarta Member Posts: 1,801 Arc User
I played Blood of the Ancients and Delta Flight on one character, just to get the story experience.

Since the mission rewards were not that spectactular, I tried to skip them on my other three characters, simply because I didn't see any merit in replaying the same episodes 3 times over.

But the Skip function is disabled for these missions.

I do not approve of forced participation in story content.

At the moment they are under the Featured Episode tab, which I assume is why they can't be skipped atm. Once they are moved to the Iconian tab I am sure they'll be skip-able.

Why would you want to skip them? There's nothing after them yet.

According to the patch notes, these missions were moved to another tab, a storyline one I think.
And they are still not skippable.

I hope this is not an indication that they're making all the Iconian missions mandatory, that playing them all in sequence per character is required to progress in the mission chain.

And no, there is nothing after them yet.
But as more Iconian missions are deployed, I am assuming there will be more added over time.
And I don't particularly want to play through boring missions just to get reward Q from mission P.

The issue may be that you have to be a Lvl 60 character .

Even the older missions are level gated, so you can't play / skip them if you're not at least at the appropriate Lvl . This really sux for the Delta FE's, as on many toons I won't ever get to play them, as they'll never get to Lvl 60 .

... well correction ... , it sux for me as well as for Cryptic ... , as they get no mehtrics from missions that can't be played ...

All my characters are level 60, so that is not the reason for being unable to skip them.

I'm assuming for the sake of this discussion that the FEs will be shifted from that menu to the Iconian mission chain as time progresses.

So, if the above principle is true, that means I have to go through two pointless missions to reach House of Pegh when it gets moved to the Iconian tab.
And depending on the rewards granted by House of Pegh, it may become the third pointless mission.

You can see why I am concerned if each and every Iconian episode is made manditorily per character.

And since I play them on one character, I'm not missing out on any of the story.
I'd prefer to play them one time only and then decide if they're worth repeating on my other characters, not be forced to do them to move up the mission chain.

    sigh...

the whine level here is on the level of Anakin Skywalker...

Seriously. It's free to play. Also, those content aren't hard or long with decent xp rewards.

Actually, Delta Flight is kind of lengthy in my opinion.

But the original complaint I cannot understand. When a new FE is available, it has so far always been available to every toon (of at least level 10). And when it was unfeatured, it always became skippable. So I doubt this is a good time to panic. Next week would be a good time to note if it didn't work. Before that, keep calm.

Exactly. There is normally no reason for the featured episode to be skippable, because there's nothing after it. Skipping it would just...grey out the skip button. :D

The current is somewhat of a special case since there are two of them at once. Someone might theoretically want to skip Blood of Ancients to play Delta Flight. Still no point complaining about not being able to skip them both.

    Completely off topic.

To clarify my concerns, I am looking forward to the time when the Iconian episodes are not featured episodes and just part of the regular storyline.

I fully expect House of Pegh to be shifted to the Iconian storyline tab, at which point the issue becomes prevalent.
And considering I anticipate more episodes in that chain to be forthcoming, so if this issue isn't resolved, the amount of mandatory forced participation missions will snowball faster then avalanches in Q's Winter Wonderland.

I'm hoping this is just a mistake on the part of the Devs, that for some reason they forgot to disable the skip function on the Iconian episodes.
If it is intentional, then I will not be happy!

I'll give you the proper feedback.

"Hi devs, I've noticed that with the FE now returned to the Iconian storyline, there's no skip feature. Is this intended or a bug?

    thanks"

and if it is intended then:

"oh that's not a good idea. I'd like to be able to skip this for my alts. Could it be accountwide, completing and being able to skip?

    Thanks"

see? That's positive, constructive and a form of feedback that the devs will respond to.

"If" is the deciding factor here. There is no reason for it to be skippable now, so it isn't. If it won't be skippable later on, then we can ask questions. But right now it's "The democrats and republicans don't even have decided on a presidential candidate for the next election. If they won't have one come november, the election will be broken".
