That's why I leave my Tribbles at Federation sanctioned Tribble care systems.
I didn't know we had any black holes in Federation space. Is it one of those Hirogen communication network things?

Actually, when you think about it, the tribbles we can put in our inventory are not proper tribbles at all. A proper tribble as seen in Trek, reproduces ten or so at a time and multiply like crazy if not kept away from any abundant food sources.
These guys, STO tribbles, just spawn another single tribble that are often a new type if not a new breed.
One of my delta kdf characters has converted her bank into a Tribble slaughterhouse. 10 cannible tribbles about 20 stacks of food and as many normal tribbles as i have on hand. it was prompted by forgetting to clean out my inventory during the nimbus, I'd sell the junk I had at vendors but tribbles don't show up in the sell list. So i got part way into installation 18 and got the 'inventory full message.... 30 tribbles sitting in my inventory....
Angry Tribbles. Before there was Angry Birds, there was Ninjas vs Pirates.
The Devs could create a mini-game, where Klingons have to defeat Tribbles in a basically similar manor and the birds do the pigs. Only KDF character would have access to this version of the game.
Feds and Roms could play the same game but only as Tribbles getting their revenge on the Klingons. Like the Birds they'd use giant sling shots ans so for.
Nah. It'd just slow down the servers too much and keep us from playing the real game.
They can be quite a surprise.
I did Nimbus 3, at the end, I did a check into my inventory....
Had 5 of the buggers in my stash lol.
Not a clue what they ate, but Nimbus does drop quite a bit of food.
No food there though....
Reminds me of Kirk, when he opened that room full of Tribbles (Trouble With The Tribbles).
Was he in for a surprise.
Tribbles will consume anything any other NPC can consume, including Aldebaran whiskey, Ketrecel, etc. In fact, if you leave any edibles/potables in the bank or inventory long enough with even a cannibal tribble, a new tribble will spawn, which the cannibal then promptly dispatches, unless there is additional avaliable "food" for the new tribble. I've mistakenly left several food items in my inventory with the cannibal, and next thing I know, I've got 3 new (non-cannibal) tribbles!

Could beam them in to the Iconian sphere and see how the Iconians like them.
I know that's not how it's going to end, but wouldn't it be awesome?
Even the Iconians cannot defeat the Tribble breeding power!!!
Or... maybe they're another example of Iconian bioengineering intended to bring civilizations to their knees with depleted food supplies and cheebling fuzziness???
On topic, I keep a cannibal tribble in my inventory when I can. But I also keep "special" tribbles and have nowhere to put them all, so I do lose food from time to time if I don't get it out of my inventory fast enough.

The worst of our fears have come to be realized: Tribbles have evolved sentience!
Nobody know how it happened. Rumors abound: A section 13 experiment gone wrong, tribbles passing into Iconian space, a fiendish ploy from the Mirror Universe, and many more.
What is certain is that in less than two weeks Q'onos was overrun, the few Klingon survivors traumatized by the scale of the massacre. 2/3 of the borg collective has been assimilated and the Jenolan Sphere exploded spawning a cloud of spacefaring tribbles the size of 3 solar systems. Both the Borg collective and the Iconian hegemony have requested and alliance to combat the new threat.

Fun fact: cannibles can't eat "special" tribbles. And Gamma Tribbles are "special"... even though you can easily acquire thousands of them....

There's your reason to breed tribbles right there!
Genuinely LOL.
