STO Gateway: Secure Connection Failed (April 2015)

darkjeffdarkjeff Member Posts: 2,590 Arc User
For at least a week now, I've been unable to connect to the Gateway (https://gateway.startrekonline.com/).

Edit: Ah, nevermind. A Firefox update fixed the issue.

It doesn't work again. Still on Firefox 37.0.1

Previously it hadn't worked, and after I restarted Firefox so it updated to 37.0.1 it worked, but now I'm getting "Secure Connection Failed" again:
    Secure Connection Failed

The connection to gateway.startrekonline.com was interrupted while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.

Clearing cache and restart browser didn't help either.

I just tried the link http://gateway.startrekonline.com/locked.html and was informed that, "Star Trek Gateway is currently undergoing maintenance. Please try again later." How much later? Hours, days, months? No telling.

http://gateway.startrekonline.com redirects me to https://auth.startrekonline.com/ where it then gives me the error.

    Bah, I sez.

It's been broken on Firefox for me too (I also keep updated to the latest version). However, the Gateway works fine on Chrome.

From my phone, Chrome doesn't like the lack of certificate but I can make it go there if I want to. Firefox just won't go to that site (or if there's a way to force it to, I don't know it).

I tried to sign up for a membership and I get the "Secure Connection Failed" message too,
as well as a friend of mine.

I already deleted my browser cache and cookies and checked for browser updates (Firefox 37.0.1).

Anyone got a solution for this? It's really annoying. :(

    Edit:
I was able to access the page by using my smartphone (Android 5.0.1) so it must be an issue with
    firefox.

Same problem with me and the latest version of firefox 37.0.2 . Other browsers work fine. I think if you complain on the mozilla page they will tell you the issue is with the website, not firefox.

EDIT: And actually, maybe they're on to something. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=auth.startrekonline.com

The website is vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.

I'm also having the same issue. I tried on my iPad 2 and had no problems connecting, the same with IE11. Firefox seems to think the TLS certificate is out of date on the site and will not let me override.

As of May 1st, 2015 it works again on Firefox.

I'm guessing the certificate did expire, and it was just renewed with the start of the month.
