In short, the set makes your ship look like it's all covered in herpes sores. All those inflamed bits of red. ICK!
Maybe it were changed to more purple than red, it might not look so gross.
Think I'll stick with my Ye Olde MACO set then.

Not to mention, there's always the Disable Visuals option.
I'd go for that.
Pretty much this ^ I like some visuals, but not their respective sets
In every place,
The deeds of men remain the same..."
This was discussed in a live stream a while back that Smirk ran, apparently the ability to choose the visual appearance of your ship along the lines of Uniform unlocks, based on your Ships' unlocked visual styles, is something Cryptic would like to do but no indication when or if this is likely to happen...
Ditto, there are some really snazzy effects I'd like to have but the actual piece is meh (or at least, meh for that particular build).
The space visuals make me think 1976, paisley.
The ground set makes me think disco leotard. Oh, and having played Champions...I know where the base appearance for that leotard came from. Nobody is fooled.
Is it really so hard to make good quality, items and sets which actually look like they belong in this universe?
- Tron glowies on weapons
- Mass Effect Armor sets
- Clone Trooper assault cannons
- The Fisher-Price Antiproton Weapons family
- Every Klingon Disruptor having spikes on it past MK IV or so
- Halo Covenant Polaron weapons family
- Superhero spandex
It is really difficult to put together a decent in-universe look, when everything available looks like it came from another universe!

I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey
At least, the space set can look cool in sector space with its red lines.
Don't even get me started on the disgusting ground set.
Paychecks were definitely not earned this time around.
I'd vote for this.
Or even mix and match them. Engines, shields, deflector. It's not like we have to worry about clipping.
And then add that function to the Foundry, so when I'm kitbashing together, say, an alien ship for a mission? I can do stuff like give it the Omega engine effect and other details.
Of course, if I really had my way there'd be a button in your ship customizer marked "Normalize" which let you set all your weapons animations to the same type. Using Vaadwaur guns and running the Omni-Beam in the back but hating how they don't match? Push that button, it replaces the Omni-beam animation with the Vaadwaur beam array animation and sound effect instead.
pls reply, it's already the 20st of may and i can't post my own things, only replies. Dx
