From the episdoe Blood of the Ancients, the Preservers are gone. Do you think there might be another Archive with Preservers in the same system or on another planet? I am curious to know what information they had on the Iconians. From what we also know is that they are the first or one of the first children made by the Perseveres.
after reading that... I'm now having to wonder, are they (cryptic) thinking of doing a storyline similar to the one in Babylon 5 where they went looking for other "first ones" to aid in the battle with the Shadows... hmmm...

I was thinking much the same. The plot screams "B5" to me.
I think there are more of them out there. Consider that we didn't know about this archive until we found it in the Breen arc. I'm sure they would want other locations to make sure their information survived.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
You guys know that the race your on about is canon right?
Watch TNG season 6 episode The Chase.
The Preservers from TOS and the Ancient Humanoids from The Chase are not the same species. STO merged the two, as even the author of The Chase said he intentionally left it vague, but technically there is nothing in canon which makes them the same species.
I am not even certain why the Preservers would come to Earth a thousand years ago and snatch-up some American Indians and take them to another planet. The Preservers should not even still be alive a thousand years ago if they were the Ancient Humanoids.
So as is usual in Trek, the stories never make a lot of sense if you think about them too hard.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
What bugs me about this whole "we failed to talk to the Preservers" thing is that there is a discrepancy between our normal characters and our Delta Recruit characters.
The Delta Recruits already got what information there was about the Iconians in the Preserver database. That was the final mission objective!

My thought was that they occasionally came out of stasis to muck with things.
All I have to say is this: 4 years and the combined resources of 3 governments couldn't figure out an ounce of info out of the library?
I show up and a freaking preserver comes back from the dead to tell me "iconians, yeah you are screwed. Let me get you something that can help you". And before he returns the planet is basically a charcoal briquette.
Someone in starfleet (because the kdf sure didn't) have the library backed up on floppy somewhere.
The library was empty when I showed up. Possibly the most important library, ever. The tkon didn't leave a library.
there wasn't even an ensign talking to the hologram for the heck of it.
I guess the planet turning to dust took a toll on me.
My guess: the next fe is a big meeting between all 3 governments discussing who took responsibility in researching and protecting it. The sphere-a-day "control " is more important, I guess.
Jerks
I hope the iconians activate an omega particle and make is the biggest province in the iconian empire. We deserve it.

Of course in game-time it is been less then a year.

I imagine destroying the Preserver Archive may have been attempt to make us feel more alone in the coming challenges with the Iconians. However, if I understand correctly, it only takes one Preserver surviving to obtain the information that our poor hapless victim on Laenas intended to give us. Considering the Preserver mythos and the resources they are said to have expended protecting younger races, I find it likely that there are other Archives.
The loss of player agency annoyed me in this episode. Have none of the writers been on the wrong side of a railroaded roleplaying session? In short, players do not like it when their actions feel irrelevant to the ultimate outcome.

Hopefully we will discover another Preservers archive with Preservers. All that knowledge can not be lost forever.
Mentioning the Prophet's Delta quote from the mission "Crack in the Mirror":
"The Others saved them. The Others will save them again."
Now that it has been strongly inferred that the Preservers were "The Others" that saved the Iconians the first time, I would think there is another archive we do not know of yet that we will awaken and will help us defeat the Iconians.

so are the iconions (well the name and gates anyway) as for the Op my guess is we will discover some deus ex machine that will end the war.
lol I highly doubt that, the industry has learned its lesson the hard way over the last few years that fanbases HATE spacemagic plot devices that end massive threats with a passion.
i.e mass effect 3's ending and ironically deus ex: HR haha
so if they know whats good for them they'll steer clear of it
My guess is it'll either be to do with time travel or we end up getting help from their sibilings.
one of which im guessing is the Q, the kelvans and one other (dont know who) that'll all probably be in the next expansion I highly doubt season 10 will be the end of the iconians considering how long the game built them up for so.

On the contrary, I think the events on Lae'nas close a fairly major plot hole in STO by denying unlimited access to the Preservers' data and technology. Bad enough we have unlimited access to two Gateways and two Spheres.
Oh, we'll still kick the Heralds' butts and put the Iconians in their place, somehow. Disabling or partially disabling their Gateway network would set them back quite a bit.

Of course there are more. There are Preserver stasis pods on Raveh II where you assemble the Star Map. I brought this up in a thread a few days ago. I'm hoping Defera plays a role in the near future as well, since it is also covered in all kinds of Preserver ruins and there is no telling what could be buried there.
The Borg also assault Defera in an attempt to assimilate Preserver technology. I would absolutely love a remastered Defera Invasion Zone which includes a three way fight between the Borg, Iconians and the Alliance.

Technically you're right because the episode never confirmed they were the same. Ronald Moore however said that he wrote that episode with the intention of them being the same, but he ended up cutting the reference out. STO simply took that idea and ran with it.

it can go however cryptic wont's.
you have to remember, that Preserver did something on the computer, we don't know what. and they are the most powerful beings in the universe as all we know. so he could do just about anything.
When you 1st did the quest to find them, at the end the one Preserver said that some of them might want to go out and see what their children have built. Also just at the end of the ground mission in Bloodlines, your officer says something about rescuing the other preservers. The only thing you have that says they were wiped out was an unknown telling you that the preservers and everything they knew are gone, but I'm not one for believing that, especially in the Star Trek Universe...

You dont need to, you can easily read it with your colour choices without highlighting it :P

Yes, I was trying to make the text invisible or close to it.

Have less people making cool new ships and more people people researching an ancient library. That is how I would roll.
