Delta Recruitment some thoughts.

Delta Recruitment

Having us make and level a new char to get this new content is not really ideal for some people. I am new to the game I started a char about 2 months before delta rising, looking back I would have waited had I known more info. Now he’s lvl 43 and if I continue with him and not start a new char he will never get the new temporal skill or anything else.

Think about a new player who starts a day after delta recruitment ends and he or she realizes they were a day late for the party and permanently lost out on these new skills and rewards.

Let’s say I do start a delta recruit and go through the hoops to get the delta rewards max him out as my new main, what’s to say sto won’t do something like this again? Yes I am one of those people who like to focus on one character.

It would ease my mind to know if the mechanics of the delta recruitment event could happen again in some event in the future. At least so I can be prepared and not get too attached to any particular char if I go the route and continue to play. With my lvl 43 I was close to lvl 50 and I was going to buy my first ship and spend a little real money to support sto, but this event just made my lvl 43 obsolete in my eyes.

If nothing else give people the opportunity to possibly buy some of these skills once the event is over.

I write this mainly with the intent someone from STO could come across this and read it, of course these are forums and anyone’s welcome to chime in.

Good day

    Delta Recruitment

Forcing us to make and level a new char to get this new content...

Not to be insensitive, but I stopped reading there. No one is forcing you to do anything. Delta Recruitment is nothing special, take it or leave it. It benefits casuals very little and is just busy work for veterans.

I've been playing even less than two months, and I have no problem with the idea of DR. In fact, it just sped up my creating a Romulan character, which I'd do anyway.

You can do it, or leave it, no one is forcing you. Or you can create a DR character, but not go on with it now, but later, when you are tired of grinding for your "advanced" character.

I understand no ones forcing me to do anything but if I want to stay some what competitive those temporal skills seem pretty invaluable. I dont want to be like the only guy in a group or pvp with out such a thing. Im willing to go another round and start again but it would just destroy me if something like this happened again in the future. Lets say STO does an event like this once or twice a year is every one just ok with that? I cant be the only one who doesn't really want to do the episodes over and over again.

Yeah, stopped taking you seriously here, firstly no one is forcing you to make a Delta Recruit, secondly the rewards for doing one isn't anything game-breaking or would impact your end game performance should you not make one.

Yes there are some nice 'shinies' to be had, like the traits devices and a new Photonic Boff but again, these won't make you any better of a player if you have/don't have them.

Really the Delta Recruitment event is to draw in new players/returning players, for people who never left it's just something to do for a couple of months for some interesting goodies.:D

Edit: To elaborate the Trait could theoretically save your can from being 'vaped' but you'd have to have some wacky fast reflexes to activate if before you go boom. and the devices have too long of a cooldown to be anything more than a clever one-off in PvP

There, I rephrased the opening from forcing to having since some are really turned off by that word. You should take this seriously if you like this game and want it to survive everybody matters. There is a whole lot about this game I like. The guy right above me says this wont be detrimental in the end game, not having some of those delta completion skills. That would seem good. Last you guys are seem ok with doing these episodes a couple times a year if this event becomes a trend with STO.

I could see them bringing back the Delta Recruit event, or something like it, in the future. But perhaps not anytime soon.

I think it was a great excuse for them to go back and overhaul some of the early STO missions that didn't get a makeover before. Because some of them are clearly different and IMO better.

By doing this event, they add a new wrinkle to the story and get people to go back and replay those remastered missions.

No, they're not. If you're not competitive without them, you won't be competitive with them.

They're all nice bonuses, but they're not really game changers.

I lied, i did read your original post. If you only have a level 43, you're not even close to "competing" with anyone. Whatever being competitive means these days... PvP is non-existent and PvE is not competitive whatsoever. No perk a Delta Recruit gets has any bearing on any content (the trait may have PvP relevance but 6 people PvP anymore so who cares).

Trust me, level a Delta Recruit to 60 and I could destroy you with my 3 year old toon. You wouldn't even be able to react. And I'd fly through any PvE content far faster too, if that matters at all.

The only real competition in this game is on the exchange and forum PvP. If you only want one toon, play one toon. Do whatever makes you happy. Nothing can obsolete fun.

You have to make 3 if you want all the global unlocks. You need a Romulan (any faction), a vanilla Fed and a vanilla KDF. You only need to take one of them to level 50 but you need all 3 to do all the arcs.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

I'm pretty sure the unlocks only require one char of any faction to complete, could be wrong tho confirmation on that would be really nice.

All in all I am kind of liking the event although it would have been nicer if it coincided with the sector space revamp, I have some recruits that have only finished the tutorial I will probably be saving for that.

It's a really small nitpick really but I was also dissapointed that there's no special commentary or cutscene during temporal ambassador.

I do agree as well tho that they really need to re-think how event and similar rewards affect new characters, the item's should all unlock across the account when they are unlocked if this means new characters on the account need to either wait till the next event to get the item free or pay dilithium for it so be it. The single character bound costumes, ships & items really kills a great deal of the desire to create a alt and go through the content again.

Another option of-course that would have been great for the delta recruitment event would have been something like the NEW GAME+ some other games have, where it would have let you just use your normal character who would essentially have all the episodes set to undone and be able to go through them again all scaled to lvl 50-60, although this would require some changes as well to keep it from locking you out of certain areas and such due to not having done the mission.

A costume sale would have also been a nice touch for the event

You only need one Delta Recruit. The unlocks are account wide and across all factions. Just tested it. :)

Well the big prizes only need 1 recruit. but to get all of the little prizes you need one of each faction. Each story arc gives you a separate reward box for ech character, and it counts the Rom/Fed/KDF story arcs separately.

There are unlocks for each story arc completed, including the early faction-specific ones. So if you're a completionist (like me), you really do need 1 of each faction to get everything.

I wonder how it is Boffs like Tovan in "The Helix" know your after Iconian related info, should there be something like a cut scene where you fill them in?

Another idea would be to connect this event with existing home worlds like Bajor, add new worlds like New Talax, Gornar, or a new area in one of the Spheres.

This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Some of them are different, on my Fed though I'm in the middle of the Cardy arc on my Fed and oh gawd that thing drags on and is annoying as all heck.
What is the "everything" that you have to get?

Non-DR characters get to claim a minor reward for each of the arcs completed. Something like 1k Dil ore each?

Since some arcs are faction exclusive, if you wanted all those minor rewards you'd need Delta recruits in each faction.

As far as I am comcermed the delta recruit event has been a success. I started my first character three years ago. It took fourteen days to reach lvl 50. My delta recruit made lvl 60 in thirteen days, and I just completed Uneasy Allies last night. Total 18.5 days from start to finsh. My thanks to the people responsible for the work. I had fun so you must have done a good job. My delta recruit is as caught up with my old characters as they need to be and I'm ready for season 10. Oh yeah, I'll complete all six of the previous reps in about eight more days. Just sayin' that some of us players got what we were after. Thanks again. Shutting up now and going back in.

I agree, I think DR is a success, I have been on a break (long break) in which i only had one KDF and one FED character. I rolled a ROM DR, and now he is higher level than the other two (Still not level 60, yes it has been that long since i played)

Hmm i was away from the game since a long time and have a question about the Delta and it's(if any) interactions with the Legacy Unlocks,i have doffs rewarded from previous tribble testings and for some reason i can't claim any of the availiable doffs,my Delta Captain is an Orion.
I already reclaimed my Ds9 pack doffs,so i don't know if legacy unlocks are disabled to her due the fact she is a new Delta captain.
If by any reason the question don't fit this thread would be possible to point out some direction?
    Thanks in advance.

If you're KDF... some legacy doff things are locked until level 25.

Since the doff system was introduced to KDF at that level way back when.
