You have to be blind not to see where this is going, which is combining the Federation, Romulans, and Klingon Empire into one united power. My problem and feedback on this, is it is not Star Trek. What the real shame is these two episodes were really fun to play, but whats the point if your just going to ruin everything that is Star Trek. My feed back on this subject is rather simple and plain, before you start thinking about post season 10. I would ask that you end this poorly written excuse for the ultimate alliance. The only instance in star trek that supported this was the poorly done Enterprise tv series, when you watch those episodes, its very clear its funding was pulled and shut down for good reason. So why on earth devs would go down the same road.
You have three playable factions, the Federation, the KDF, and the Romulan Republic. Instead of doing what is politically correct, meaning this everyone works together bull, try doing wahts star trek. Finishing the Klingon Empire, and making the Romulans a stand alone faction. You cant keep moving those factions along half broken, by putting together a dull Alliance story. When I play a Klingon I expect it to be for the Klingon Empire, when I play a Romulan I expect it to be fore the Romulan people, and when I play a Fed race I expect it to be for the Federation.
Your alliance story will work for season 10 and the Iconians but after that it needs to end.
Strange, I seem to remember their was a canon alliance between those three powers in another TV-Show.
But if I read you correctly, your problem is not the alliance itself, but the unfinished romulan faction. Though thats only a RP-Problem, as the Romulans would fall behind quickly if they were ever a independend faction. No starbases, no embassies, no spires...
If you watch TNG you might realise, that the Federation and Klingons have been allies for quite some time. If you watch DS9 you will see, that the Federation, Romulans and Klingons unite against the Dominion.
The only reason there was a war in STO is probably because of pvp. The devs planned to have two factions fighting each other. Since they pretty much dropped pvp there is no reason to have any war. For gameplay peace is a lot better, since queues would suck if you are only grouped with your faction.
Personally I would have loved to play a tal shiar in the old setting. With romulus still there. But I can understand and respect why the devs introduced the romulan republic.
What your talking about is a simple stand up one time alliance, in the Dominion war, what I feel as though they are doing is not one time. Rather a full scale dissolving of the three powers to form a full alliance. Yes the Klingons and Humans were allies at one point, but it was very clear many klingons were not happy with that. They are a independent people who like to stand on their own two feet. Even when they were long term allies with the Federation, the Federation did not set policy for the Klingon Empire. I just get the feeling from these episodes they are trying to set the stage for dissolving the three powers, and trying to form it into a permanent alliance.
As far as the setting for the KDF goes in sto, I think I understand now more then before, why KDF players were upset with many of the changes. Back then it was a grind but for tense and purposes it was unique for the KDF. If I could go back on my KDF, klingon, then I would not do the pve grind. I think I would do the pvp end of it. By pve grind I do not mean episodes, or missions tied to a story, boy was it different.
I don't think its a rp thing as much as when I play my toons, I want to feel like I am in the star trek universe. Not some aligned thing.

So in the shows they had Empire and Fed alignment that upset some Klingons, in the game they have an Empire and Fed alignment that is upsetting some Klingons, seems like they are doing pretty good with getting the feel of Star Trek.

Isn't that how the Federation was formed though? Humans, Vulcans, Andorians and Tellarites, who were all separate nations, working together against a common foe (the Romulans), a temporary alliance that became permanent later on.
Yes that is how it was formed, but thats something a starfleet player may look forward to, is not necessarily something a KDF player would look forward to. Aligning everyone on a permanent basis would just make things dull from my perspective.

Agreed. I view the alliance in much the same way as the Allies in WW2. The Soviets and the US only allied against Hitler and the TRIBBLE. The USSR remained neutral with regard to the Japanese even though Imperial Japan was Hitler's ally. While US forces were imbedded with UK, French, and other Western allied forces, that was NOT the case on the Eastern Front. It was more that the Soviets and the US were racing to see who could finish off TRIBBLE Germany first.
The United Alpha Quadrent Forces during the Dominion War fought much the same way. While there was great cooperation between the KDF and Starfleet, those two and the Star Empire's Navy agreed to stay out of each other's way. Sloan and Section 31 were already planning for the post-Dominion war era and put into place plans for after the defeat of the Dominion. Likewise, in this Iconian War, I believe that Starfleet and the KDF have decided to stay out of each other's way and cooperate in much the same way the USSR and the United States cooperated against Hitler.
I suspect that both Section 31 and the KDF are already putting plans into motion for after the defeat of the Iconians. The Republic likewise has to realize that they may become pawns in the resumption of the on and off cold war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. No doubt, even the Republic is setting into motion plans to ensure their neutrality and maintain their security in the post-Iconian era as well as expanding their influence into areas that have traditionally be within the Romulan sphere.

You illustrated my point much better then I did myself, but I can not help shake the feeling, that this is not what they have planned for post Iconian war.
Given that the Vulcans and Andorians had only recently been at war, they probably didn't expect anything on a permanent basis either and yet here we are. As the Federation are the "main characters" in Star Trek, it seems to me that what Cryptic is doing, bringing the other powers down the same path, is very Star Trek. Different people putting aside their differences and coming together for the common good.

One of the best quotes criticizing Gene Rodenbeery's utopia vision of Earth in the Future.
While I believe the Federation, and Starfleet in particular highlights a bright future, that bright future is the best of the best, who are apt to go out into the frontier and explore in the first place, much like colonists during the age of discovery. What is left behind on Earth (and Europe) is not as rosy as it appears on first blush. On closer look, stagnation decadence, and decay become evident.
While I do love that quote, and I can apreciate the OP wantign to preserve seperate cultures and powers, becuase that is always more interesting (and frakly realistic) I have to agree with other posters that the three factions comming together on a more long term basis is very star trek. They can maintain a strong alliance with other cultures while still retaining thier own. In other words they can have strong ties to the federation without joining the federation. And also remeber even ST agknowlees that almost all alliances eventualy end because they are of that moment in time. I could see aid for new romulus keeping this alliance together for a very long time even after the iconian war ends, but once the romulans are strong again they will have an inevitable "romulus for romulans" movment, and as the klingons tire of peace after a couple decades, they will all three be at eachothers throats again ad new alliances will be formed.

After the iconian war the main factions will be weakened. Someone will probably take advantage of that and a new enemie will arise. So I suppose the alliance will hold simply because it is needed.

Havent heard from the Dominion in a while. We do know they are still around, however what they have been doing is anyones guess.
Im thinking after the Iconian war there will be a period of rebuilding and stabilization, and further exploration of the delta quadrant.
Then without any warning or prior knowledge..... BUM BUM BUM... HERE COMES THE DOMINION!!!!!!!!!
I could be wrong,, has happened once or twice...

Well, it would be a nice way to add a proper Gamma Quadrant. And maybe even a Dominion and/or Cardassian playable faction ... Then again, with two and a half factions already allied, the Dominion would be severely disadvantaged and I can't exactly see the Klingons or the Romulans hopping over to the Dominion.
I imagine that towards the end of the Iconian War, that the other factions will split and go to war with one or both of the other factions.... claiming the right to the sphere's or tech in their region of space...
this could lead to (as someone else mentioned) another playable faction or maybe a separation of the Romulans into their own independent faction... which would have two sides (Tal Shiar and RSE) just to keep with the choices there hahaha...
There's a number of ways that the end of this season could go... so, unless you have super secret insider intell from the sources... yeah, it's all speculation...

The Borg will assimilate the Founders. Imagine that, a shape-shifting Borg. I experimented with the idea in my first Foundry missions (KDF)
