Tholian Tarantula: next R&D Promotion Ship?

Wouldn't that be awesome? I love that look, the design, its sooo sexy!!! :cool: I've been thinking lately, wouldn't it be great to have this Ship as a Price for the next R&D Promotion Event? The perfect contender after the Voth Bulwark and the Elachi Sheshar, don't you think?

Well, one can always dream! :rolleyes:

PS: I know about this thread, just didn't wanted to necro it.

    A Tholian Tarantula would be cool, but since we are dreaming, before that I would like to get a borg unimatrix first so I can shoot spheres and probes rigth in the iconians face :D:D. Now that would be awesome:D:D

    That would be an awesome ship if they gave it a commander science seat and 5 sci console slots with a nice science trait since I'm tired of the escort/cruiser parade of ships being released.

    They should release it as a Science Dreadnought. With secondary deflector and its BFG as a console (3-pc bonus would be force-teleporting the enemy in front of it).

    I know a few people in my fleet who are waiting to get their hands on one of those wonderfully animated ships, myself included.

    With plaztikman's sci dread boff layout except add pilot/inte/ to sci cdr and vice versa to the lt tac slot

    Specially if boosted by particle generators. I haven't acquired a science ship in a long time, but if this one is released as a well made sci one, I'd definitely get it.

    I absolutely love the tarantula and would love to fly it someday. I would hate to see it in the same rareness tier of the R&D boxes. Those are near impossible to get as far as I'm concerned.

    You've said "all jokes aside" but what is that? ^^ They wouldn't care, like... at all, yeah? :confused::D

    Man this ship looks sooo vicious, it's giving me the creeps everytime I have to face it (with one of my alts) ;)

    To answer your question: probably not. Indeed, the Tholians almost certainly have their own names for their ship classes; the names we see in STO would be examples of convenient identifiers (see also: NATO reporting names) inspired by the Tholians' appearance... by which logic they all 'fit': Mesh Weavers spin mesh 'walls'; Orb Weavers spawn those collapsing 'orbs'; and the Tarantulas are the biggest of the lot, just as actual tarantulas, I understand, are the largest arachnids.

    With respect to the topic of this thread: again, yes please. Now, while they're figuring that out, I would not be averse to having a miniature version as a non-combat pet (reference).

    Note: the Colossus Bird Spider is technically a species of Tarantula.
