STO would need an insane level of work to become a console game. Neverwinter looks to have been built for console gaming.

They could be working on STO even as we speak. PW created an entire new division of the company to do nothing but convert its computer games to Console. NW was just the first.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

As long as it doesn't come on PS4 I'm fine. lol.

They'd have to dumb it down a lot to make it work with a controller. Well... maybe no.

Considering PvE is just spacebar mashing and PvP is non-existent, they may even do it. It's just that it'd be "X button smashing".

As much as I want it to come to Xbox so I can finally get my friends into it, I dont know if it could work. There are just way too many abilities to map to an Xbox controller, they would have to dumb it down a LOT. Maybe a dumbed down version would still be ok, but idk.

Dumbed down version should be every consoles game ever released.

I'm sorry, but STO, just like most MMOs, is not made for console. Controllers and numerous abilities, is not a good combo. Also, chatting using a controller ? That's a joke. And the ingame voice chat is pretty much deserted.

Finally, consoles charge a lot for patch and all. Be it microsoft or sony. Which means, less patch, because it's too costly. And since they need to be approved by MC and Sony, they takes longer to be applied to the game.
I can see that with Defiance, which is a multi support game from the start. The patch are delayed many times because of consoles.

Basically, asking STO to be put on console, is like asking a pizza to be made into an ice cream. They might be great on their own, but together it's not going to work.

You say dumb it down, I say throwing everything you can think of, no matter how redundant or situational, into the UI is dumb UI design.

Fitting an engaging UI into the sane chords of a gamepad takes more work than throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks.

NWO was basically designed with the constraints of a gamepad in mind.

Why they disabled the baked-in gamepad controls on the PC version is beyond me.

They would have to dumb down the game so pvpers could play it on consoles.

The Street Fighter series, only one joystick and six buttons, how many professional tourneys have you won, oh awesome leet keyboarder? It's such a simple interface compared to a keyboard and mouse you must be able to just pwn them without having even played the game before.

Because absolutely senseless, especially on a PC? o_O

Well, that would be my thought about that.

Yes, a gamepad in a shooter style targeting game with no tab targeting and very limited power selection makes no sense.

What I mean is: you have all controls and more on both Keyb and mouse combined.
One only has 2 hands, nea?
