Best Impulse/Wrap combo for grinding?

jestersagejestersage Member Posts: 8 Arc User
With the sector space revamp, the wrap core/impulse engine suddenly become important, since it's so freaking huge!

That being said, I do not feel like swapping out engine and wrap cores all the time just to make travelling easily, and since STO wiki still need to be updated, what are the best combination fo engine and wrap core that allow us to be good in PvE (carrier) while still travel in sector space well?

I am using Borg SubTranswarp engine for now.

I believe the borg tech is still the fastest for sector space travel.

That said, I don't find the new space particularly 'huge', I get around pretty fast with the aegis set, which is not much faster than standard engines. There are skill points you can use to increase sector space travel too.

Just keep the borg engines on your shuttle and when you need to, swap them over.

Borg tech for most starships, but if you have an Oddy, or something else with inherant slip-stream buffs, then you want to look into Omega with a slip-stream happy warp core (ex. the mission reward from Spheres of Influence).

Are there not only 3 or 4 engines that do better than Warp 9.97 cruise?

I can only think of the following:

    Borg
    MACO
    Fleet

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have Fleet engines and the Borg engines, Borg are far faster on average.

You can find plenty of cores that reduce slipstream cooldown, but if you don't want to swap in and out, I don't know if that mod would be worthwhile other than in sector space.

It's not bigger than before, we just do not have the warp to other space anymore.
Size wise it's the same I think.

At least between the planets in an arc it is.

Its not bigger. Thanks to some camera and graphics magic it only feels bigger. If you keep your map open and watch how fast you move its the same as before (I actually think you move faster than before.) So what ever you have been using just stick with it.

Just keep the borg engines on your shuttle and when you need to, swap them over.

Better yet, keep them in the bottom of your inventory 'bag' and just double-click when you need to. Instantly equipped and moving faster. Just before you get where you're going repeat with whatever engine the Borg one replaced. Simple and painless.

2nd this. And (from what I remember) the cooldown is rather short.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

I like the borg engines but you'd think there would be something better then the borg gear which came out so long ago. Then again with the costs of upgrades through the crafting system I shouldn't complain. :D
