I see what you did with Sector space, Cryptic

Prior to the revamp, I could set up marauding missions in about 5-10 minutes. That was really nice considering how many alts I have. It may not have been others' playstyle but that allowed me to get a moderate amount of dil through exchanging contraband. That, in turn, allowed me to basically run whatever I felt like that day on whatever characters I wanted to play.

With this revamp, I just spent over 20 minutes on a single character flying around looking for those missions. I can't help but think this was the whole point. I can no longer log in on each character to set up my missions and then play like I want, not if I'm going to have any appreciable gains in any way.

Now, I'm sure if I gave it some time and spent hours looking all over for where the contraband missions pop, I might be able to shave a couple minutes off this massive increase in time.

But I won't. This isn't another dil sink but it has time-gated my play significantly and the thing is, I think that was the purpose. I'm sure I'm not alone in logging in and setting up doff missions and, some days, logging back out after the cycle if I don't really have time to play anything else. The Sector space revamp took care of that in a very real way.

I don't play to metrics, Cryptic. I will never, ever, ever play to your metrics. It's not fun at all.

I'm going to take a few days to think about the situation. I'll probably do some more investigating/exploring after a bit to see if my initial first impressions are correct in that, by design, the game has been revamped in a way to force me to stay logged in far longer than i used to for the exact same playstyle.

But I'll wait a few weeks or a month until after the metrics report gets sent to whoever. I don't want me taking the time to figure out how messed up this may be to help buff the numbers. I don't, in any way, want to help support what's been done...yet again. If this game keeps taking one step forward and two steps back, it's going to go so far backwards to the days when the game didn't even exist.

I'm not ranting, just observing but I'm clearly unhappy about the changes and fairly unimpressed. *This* is the sector revamp everyone's been raving about? Sure, it looks nicer and there's far fewer load screens but at the cost of some people's gameplay choices.

Yup it was TacoFangs out to get all of your Marauders. Couldnt possibly be that people have been begging for the walls to come down for years now. And that the sector map would feel more like space if they did. Oh no...It was all about you and your alts.

Good lord. People will complain about anything in this game except what needs to be.

While we're getting stuff off our chests I'd like to complain about Alhena no longer being available to run. I haven't noticed deuterium surpluses being made available any other way - if they have please let me know. There's no way that deuterium surpluses could be construed as OP and thus deserving of nerfing, which leads me to believe it was an oversight or collateral damage for what is a pretty neat improvement to the game.

Same goes for the Defera daily missions, I couldn't find the deferi freighters to help.

    Have they been removed?

last night on a fresh Klingon I went thru every sector in the alpha and beta quadrents took over a hour , Every sector

I found 2 45 minute Raids and 3 2 hour freighter contraband missions and 3 prisoner 8 hour missions

Before I could get 12 or more of these missions in 10 minutes

There are plenty of maraudering missions sure......They just don't reward with contraband

I will try again today , if its the same I sopose its time to retire my Klingons because waiting for Q's that almost never pop is not a option

I would be in Q's while maraudering before and would get a few missions while cycling thru my alts....But not like this

This looks like a 75% nerf to contraband gathering to me
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

Me too... Instead of hitting a loading-screen-wall every time I want to hop to a different sector block for it's missions, I point my ship headed north along the map from Drozana, stopping in each sector to see what I can pick up. If I'm not to 23 assignments by the time I'm at the Azure Nebula, I take a sharp left turn and head toward Sol system...

Without the old walls, this was just a "point myself in the direction of" and keep hitting the "R" key to start and stop when I cross into a new sector... Took me half the time it used to...

A tip while Cryptic shakes out the bugs: Try the ready room. I'm almost led to believe that you have access to every doff mission in the quadrant from there now.

That said, there's an apparent glut of turrets in the market, I had as many of those as I had raid missions. :P

^ This. Use your ready room. DOff missions all over inside the ship, including a couple unique ones.

You can also just check-in with your department head contacts (ie. the not-first-thing-in-the-doff-menu). I find it extremely, extremely hard to take the OP's post at face value when the list of assignments you get form those guys (including contraband assignments) is pretty huge now.

That's what I meant. I was floored at how many missions my marauding contact has now!

It would be nice to have an overlay on the map show the region boundaries for doff missions to help setup some kind of route to follow instead of just hunting around wondering if you missed anything.

Ditto. I was expecting a bit of a nerf but I was overloaded. Start at DS9 and head to the South East corner by that nebula. Cross to sectors and plot a course to Qo'nos. I didn't make it there and was filled with 23 missions. You can also fly toward Romulus for some more in that section. Takes less than 10 minutes.

The hard work that was put into bringing down sector space walls, overhauling the celestial bodies, reworking the mapping structure, debugging transwarps, etc. was not done solely out of someone's paranoid perception that it was all to satisfy some "metrics regarding marauding"

Seriously. I'm closing this thread down because the assumption is being ludicrous. Tacofangs is NOT in fact secretly out to get you.
