I am trying to Help Disable Security Protocol within this game! The numbers are going to fast. By the time I have clicked on a GREEN number either Nothing happens and it keeps counting down or I end up clicking a YELLOW instead. Very Annoying!
Another issue that is quite bothersome is that IF I finally get one, and I can't get the others it Starts all over again. Obviously it was suppose to do this..But, I barely have a chance to click on the GREEN NUMBERS. I have Used F button, I have Doubled Clicked and I have merely tapped on my laptop pad. Can't even catch it fast enough with a MOUSE.
I would like to see this actually WORK and Give us ALL a chance to actually click on the GREEN NUMBERS before they TURN YELLOW. Literally by the time I hit the Green, It's already Yellow or Nothing happens at all. It is truly a pain.
I haven't got time to just sit here all day and HOPE I GET IT!!! I've already been at it for a little over and hour and to be quite frank, I am irritated and Tick! (that's being nice).
I know I am not the only one having this issue. Even members of my fleet are frustrated over this.
Please FIX or ALTER how this works or We will never get through this game at this rate. Some of us are wanting to continue leveling our toons.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.

I do wish they would slow the numbers down just a tad, with the current lag in the game by the time its register the click the numbers past. there is also the fact that some peoples reflexes are not as fast as others.
Having lag on my playthrough, the solution was easy; click on the number a split-second after it pops the last number (before the one you need), then click... thus it registers as the correct number appears. If the click does not register, try again, and repeat
It takes some timing, but it can be done - on such fast rotating schedules, better to hit a little early than 'on-time' or 'later' (can easily miss with those last two)

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

A better solution would be for the incompetent developers to fix the persistent UI lag caused by their lack of coding abilities.
Seriously, we know you cant fire people for poor performance anymore, so make sure you hire people that can code to begin with!

If I can get through it with no problem, then the possibility exists that the game is not automaticly at fault.

I too am dissatisfied with this part of the mission.
So much in fact, that after 5 minutes of failing to even lockin one number, I stopped trying and logged out.
Reflex tests are for air force pilots and race car drivers, not gamers.
Unless they change this significantly, I plan to ignore this mission from now on.
And if they implement this minigame in any other missions, I will ignore them as well.

Yeah, that section was annoying, I ended up trying to time it so I was clicking in advance (kinda stupid to include something so latency sensitive with the current lag issues IMO) however, I found the next bit even more annoying...
Try flying an obstacle course in a cruiser... Way to promote the soon to be released Pilot Escorts/Destroyers by including a section of an episode intended for those vessels, apparently forgetting that some people do actually fly larger, less maneuverable ships...
Then there's the fact that I've tried twice now (and had to fly the damn'd course twice) to get recognition for defeating the Herald Patrol, but nothing... I've just been sitting here, flying around in circles, waiting for something to happen - 10 minutes and counting, yet still nothing... /sigh
The lag made it slightly annoying, since once you clicked a number, it could change 2-5 times before it got locked in, in the end it was basically down to chance.
You guys, it's honestly not that hard. You look at the key in the dialogue, see which number is coming for Alpha, watch for that number, and click. If you watch it through one cycle, you'll see the number rotate in order, so you can predict exactly when the number you'll need will show up. Then just repeat the process for the other two.
It's a game, either grow up and just be patient with the mission, or don't play it and do something constructive. Whining will get you nowhere.
I got past the security protocol I was helping with what I found annoying was flying through that course I mean that is dumb especially flying through that course with a cruiser ugh. Course I got through the course then dealt with the patrol, now my problem started immediately after the patrol the ship that Miral was on got disabled and on my things to do with the quest it says to deal with the patrol but there is no more patrol and I couldn't do anything I was stuck there and couldn't even continue the mission right after the ship Maril Paris was on got disabled after waiting for 10 minutes so after flying around couldn't do anything and I just left. I am thinking of just skipping that mission unless I can figure out how to continue the mission after the Ship that Miral Paris's ship has been disabled
kinda stupid to include something so latency sensitive with the current lag issues IMO
An opinion I can't argue with. But, it's a current design trend in MMOs. It could be worse; it could be jumping puzzles. Even the ones which don't require twitch skills seem to drive casuals into fits of rage.
to add more to the problem I have since I just got done trying Delta Flight again is that after the ship that Miral Paris is on that gets disabled I am told in quest log to defeat the Herald Patrols but the problem for me is after dealing with the herald patrol, the ship gets disabled then I get to hails from Tom Paris to continue I say yes ready then in the quest log it says to defeat the Herald Patrols while the ship that Miral is on is disabled the problem is there was no Herald Patrols at all I just sat there and flew around for 10 minutes but no Herald Patrols showed up and I couldn't continue the story so again I had to leave the mission

Do you have even the slightest idea how latency can impact time sensitive activities such as this, or are you just trolling for the sake of being an TRIBBLE?
Those people sitting on 30-50ms are likely to have no issues at all, however, when your average latency is somewhere around 300-500ms or more (like mine in Australia), or you are experiencing some form of internet lag (like many are right now), clicking a button with barely a one second window is actually harder than it sounds...
This is only exacerbated by having to redo the 'puzzle' several times, all because you click once too often at the wrong time, having missed that one second window...
In future, if you're gonna fire off a salvo like this, perhaps you should actually stop to consider the whole picture because you just came off looking like a troll at best, an idiot at worst...
An opinion I can't argue with. But, it's a current design trend in MMOs. It could be worse; it could be jumping puzzles. Even the ones which don't require twitch skills seem to drive casuals into fits of rage.
Yeah, gotta say I was happy to play a couple new episodes which did not involve maze running, or playing Pitfall... I'm all for a good story, but gimmicky puzzles, simply for the sake of adding something for people to do, get old fast IMO...
Combat focused seemed appropriate given they were focused on the Iconian invasion...
Even the obstacle course through the asteroids was appropriate from a thematic perspective, given the context of the episode... My only complaint is that it was designed with escorts in mind and the limitations of larger vessels seem to have been overlooked entirely...
This. It was a breeze in my T5-U Rhode Island - she was perfect for it (and I am more convinced than ever that the Nova class would be absolutely PERFECT as a T6 ship with a pilot hybrid BOFF seat).
However, complete pain in the backside in my T6 Galaxy.
Yep, my first thought was my Sci in the Scryer would be right at home, or my KDF characters in the Mat'Ha...
But given the course was bordering on the frustrating in an Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser, I will certainly not be trying it in a Scimitar, when I finally get to my Romulan characters...
Do you have even the slightest idea how latency can impact time sensitive activities such as this, or are you just trolling for the sake of being an TRIBBLE?
Yes, I do have the slightest idea, because I've had latency issues in the past. But I also know that, if you are patient and learn the timing, you can still click the little box before the text turns green, and you'll get it. It may take a few tries, but it will work.
All people do anymore is complain about every last little thing, and then swear on their mother's life that they won't play again until its fixed, only to come back a few days later. It's a FREE TO PLAY GAME with a FREE UPDATE. Period. Am I saying it's perfect? No, of course not. But if you don't like it, then don't play it.
I confirm that the UI just doesn't accept the input when it actaully happens. It has little to do with anyone's reflexes.
Upon clicking the numbers once, usually nothing happens. I had to tap quickly the same button 3-4 times before the game realized and acknowledged that I clicked.
Sometimes, when I click on green a single time, the following yellow is input instead. The game cannot manage to observe the clicking event quick enough.
Try flying an obstacle course in a cruiser... Way to promote the soon to be released Pilot Escorts/Destroyers by including a section of an episode intended for those vessels, apparently forgetting that some people do actually fly larger, less maneuverable ships...
Strange, my presidio had no issues doing the course and thats almost as big as they come, sounds more like end user error to me
I also had no issues doing the number part either, as much as i'll get flak for it i have to agree with the guy mentioning the reflexes, practice makes perfect
I am so tired of trying to get this mission done. I go into it, and the timing game is cake, so I fly through the obstacle course and it is OK. Then I arrive where you blast the hole in the roid to go through...
Everytime I do it, the roid chunk ends up ON ME, locking me in place! I cannot move at all, tried /stuck and nothing. My only recourse then is to allow the enemy to kill me so I can respawn. So I hit respawn and end up at the friggen beginning! OK fine I guess I can try and catch up, but NOOOOOOO, the heralds start spawning around me so damn fast and in such high numbers I haven't a prayer without backup, and just where is Delta flight? Oh yeah, over at the stupid asteroid where they cannot help me at all.
What the heck? Is this mission really supposed to be this difficult?
**Begin Edit**
OK, I got through the mission, I guess my Fleet Galaxy Dread was too large and kept attracting the roid chunk. When I switched to my Corvette I made it to the end, and didn't get trapped in the rock.
I am also having troubles with locking in the frequencies. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I could skip the mission, but all my toons are stuck on this one mission.
I hated the obstacle course, just too many to go through and if you don't make each one in time Paris puts on his best impression of Kurland. I am glad there is only one reward on this Mission that is of any value, so no Reruns necessary.

This mission is stupid. You have to fly a set out course with some unexpected sharp curves; it is impossible to anticipate those when you fly it a first time. Only a very manoeuvrable ship can do it.
Then, Tom Paris says we should stay in formation. First time a waited, thinking what formation. It turns out you fly point, the rest flies in formation. Did you see it? I didn't.
The number thing did work for me, but if your game lags, it can be a pain.

I had a great time in my T6 Galaxy on the hard setting! Just don't be afraid to use the throttle to slow down, rather than dropping out of full impulse every 2 seconds.
I can see how it'd be a breeze in the RI though, that thing handles brilliantly
