"Elite compensation"

xenificationxenification Member Posts: 615 Arc User
okay just a general question for you all:

is it just me or does 1 neural processor for 100 marks with a 20 hour cooldown sound like a complete and utter rip off and waste of time?

(same for all the reps)

I mean you have to trade 5 neurals for 1000 dil but then 100 marks for 1 NP - Might as well just queue for ISA right.

So my second question is: what is the point of this mini project? lol its kinda redundant with that cooldown + how much you get. 5 would be reasonable, if you make the comparison for the dill projects of course :)

anyone with me on this 0.o?

Oh also the name XD - seriously, "elite compensation" what is? this an insurance claim?

You don't have to run any queues for it - is a bonus.

Ability to avoid leeches and trolls? Awesome!

Because everyone on the forum was complaining that queues were too hard and they couldn't get BNP, APC etc.

You literally just complained about a new feature players requested and you could've completely ignored with no negative side to your gameplay. I don't understand why.

Some people have been complaining for a while about not being able to get "Elite Marks." This project is there to appease those people. If you don't have a provlem getting BNPs, APCs, etc, from other sources, don't use that project.

    It's that simple.

I like it. It's not awesome, but it's a decent compromise.

Now, I can start playing Normal queues again and get the Elite Marks (eventually) rather than playing new Advanced and getting my rear handed to me, or having to change ships, toons, or playstyle to get those same Elite marks.

Is 1 mark for 20 hours a little stupid, yes. But, it beats nothing at all.

Yeah I know what you guys mean, it just seems a bit steep to have a 20 hour cooldown on it ^^

+ I think considering how long the project is on CD they should give more than just 1 NP to be honest.

I think 100 marks for 1 Elite Mark is a decent trade. Marks are generally easy to get. It is an opportunity for players who do not have the skills / ship capable of playing or players who are not willing to play Advanced STFs a chance to get Elite Marks.

Will I take advantage of this quality of life change? No, because I prefer to get my Elite Marks the old fashion way. But for other players it is an opportunity for them to get something that perhaps they could not get before.

This feature is actually the very first thing I used when I logged in to S10. I have over 5k dyson marks but zero implants. The queues to get the implants are never going, and I refuse to run that ground BZ due to (a)only receiving rewards once after 5 attempts and (b)ground combat is mind numbingly boring.

    Omega...Defera & 100:1...
    Dyson...Ground Battlezone & 100:1...
    Undine...Space Battlezone & 100:1...
    Delta...Kobali Prime 2 & 100:1...
Iconian...100:1...with the ability to get the Iconian Marks for the 100:1 from the Kobali Prime 2...

    Wheeeee....

well im a little naive on the topic if im honest seeing as ive never had the chance to get or use elite marks till now so what exactly are they for? I.e where do I use them. Cant see anything on my rep projects, I am pretty tired though hah

EDIT: wait a sec someone just said that elite marks = Neural processors, impants etc if thats true then that CD is really TRIBBLE. lol

So would I, but since they borked Advanced queues, I can't. Not without changing my play-style, which I don't feel a good game should make you do. A good game would allow you to find new and interesting ways to compete in the same environment. Such as Skyrim: I can play the game as a jacked, axe-swinging, heavily armored wrecking ball, or I can be the deft, skilled archer and drop people before they even know I'm there, or magic my way through everything by healing and conjuring, etc. If you want to win in Advanced and Elite queues you had better bring your own team who know what they're doing or be very good at DPS.

But I digress. This is a decent compromise.

The hardest part of ISA is dealing with the trolls who go off and Rambo a transformer on their own then warp out while laughing.

Personally the only elite mark I've had issues getting in the past is the APC's for delta, mainly because I hate pugging bug hunt, my fleet doesn't run it often either, and I only recently discovered you could pick them up from the last few open missions on kobali prime.

I tend to get delta marks by the bucket load however so this change makes life just a tad simpler.

well actually you can get them in advanced too... I got most of mine from advanced, Im just simply saying if its that simple to just queue for them and it takes 15 minutes to get them then why the hell is it a 20 hour cooldown and only 1 processor? lol

it is kind of a rip when you think about it. thats 15 days of doing that same project just for 3 peices of gear it really is a joke. there should be more than 1 NP in that project.

You use them to purchase rep gear. Certain gear become available for purchase after you have reached a particular tier in a rep system and many rep gear require elite marks when you purchase gear. The two exceptions are Nukara and New Romulus reps.

Below is a screenshot for one of my KDF captains that is currently working on the Task Force Omega rep system. As you can see I am currently at Tier 4. Over on the right are rep gear items that I can currently purchase because I have unlocked them. The Omega Impulse Engine Mk XII is an example of a gear that requires 5 BNPs (Omega elite mark) in order for you to purchase it.

It takes 40 days to get tier 5, or 20 days with a sponsorship token. To get enough BNP's for a full space set using only the 20-hr cool down takes 15 days.

    I think it's fine.

For players who are able to play Advanced STFs to get elite marks, it is not the best way to get elite marks.

This is more for those people who are unable to play Advanced STFs. Now they have an opportunity to get elite marks.

IK but if you did conduit on advanced just a couple of times a day you'd get at least 5 (depending on how much you play of course) within a day and conduit is arguably the easiest out of all the STFs lol

I will continue to think its a rip till my dying breath :D

yeah but it is doable in MKXII gear (very rare bare minimum obviously, I actually did a couple of games earlier) Im just saying it still feels like a long winded way of doing that. lol

it may be an improvement, but just like buy one get one free it may look attractive but its still a pain in the TRIBBLE to buy lol or in this instance wait for :)

That said I still have 1 or 2 toons who arent upgraded etc so while it will be nice, I still feel a bit cheated on both sides of the coin ^^

The issue was people unable to win in advanced were utterly unable to get them at all. This was a high enough percentage of the game population that this option is widely appreciated.

Its fine if you have no need for it. But for a lot of people, this just changed "never have any reputation gear except for romulan and nukara" to " automatically get one piece of reputation gear per week".

That is a meaningful quality of life improvement.
