Happened to me today at about 1:50 PM (PST) for about 15 minutes) link to previous post (link)

At bout 7:40 PM I finished patching Tribble, tried to log in saw "Server Not Available" (That's normal I assume as you guys just put a final/new patch on it) -- so exited -- re-launched and getting the Blank/Black Baground with "Loading Please Wait..." in upper left corner. :(

    Tracert to account server:

    Tracert to Patchserver:

Well, from the look of those trace routes the problem isn't with the patch server or the account server. I'm curious, can you ping 208.95.186.12 and 208.95.186.52?

So, the maintenance for season 10 release has started. Will the season 10 code improve or worsen the total unplayability from disconnects and rubberbanding that have been around since the delta recruit thing started?

Only time will tell. All I know is that engineers have continued to investigate the matter, even before season 10 dropped today.

Saying that, please post in this thread if you are having problems with your connection instead of chat about what's been happening with disconnections and lag recently as it will help keep the thread on topic and ensure that the community team, devs and engineers have a clean place to look at the information they need to hopefully resolve these issues.

For general chat about recent disconnections and lag since the Delta Recruitment event please go to one of the existing threads that are just chatting about this.

    Thanks.

So can't log in since the patch...

my client updated fine and then when I hit engage it crashed on the black cryptic page. The error message is:

Unable to initialize on-demand patching and connect to the patch server. The connection was idle for too long.

The cryptic error submission tool then opens, fails to get a submission number and then closes on it's own.

Just going to repost this here in the main thread. I know people are concerned about the latency issues. I just want to say that we are too.

There are a ton of variables that need to be taken into consideration, when you have a problem such as this that's affecting certain players than others. You look over demographics. Are all the players experiencing latency issues exclusively from one region? No, it's more generalized? Ok, next route of questioning. Is it failed routing through a switch that's mismanaging certain networking? Yay or nay?

If it's as simple of an ah-ha moment, the team usually catches it within an hour or so from the point of entry. This is where we see a whole lot of failed maps specific to an event and go "that's a pattern!" This is where we see that for some reason one of the Boston routers is glowing red and hissing at us.

If it's not one of those, it's usually a more nebulous problem that requires more time before we can find the solution. Are we still looking though?

    You're damn right we are.

I worked in IT for a quarter of a century... Standard bug fix/problem finding technique...

Stuff works... change Stuff... Stuff no longer works... Check what you changed... Unchange broken Stuff changes... Stuff works again...

Problems started last Tuesday with unannounced patches, got worse on Thursday with the announced patch, probably the damn foolish post-logout dummy launcher prepatch thing. Was ok this Monday, now terminally borked.

I find the constant 'prepatch on logout' thing suspicious. Since the prepatch launcher is trying to connect to the servers while the game client is still running, I wonder if this means every 'logging out because of terrible lag' player is using more server connections than the poor people still in the game, especially since the prepatch never seems to complete properly and always re-runs on logout.

Just a thought for something to get the techs to check.

I normally don't post in the forums, but I feel I need to this time.

I've been having what I believe is a graphics related crash for a bit now. I've got a Dell Inspiron with an Intel HD graphics card. the crash only happened a couple times a day, and as I play for several hours at a time, it wasn't much more than an annoyance, the server disconnects were worse, imho.
HOWEVER, after the season 10 patch, I've been getting the same crash constantly! I get past the Cryptic loading screen to the Star Trek Online loading screen, then, after anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds(yes, I timed each one after the first 3 times), the game crashes and I get the error, I've tried a work around mentioned on pwe's support page, didn't work, I attempted to try a workaround found in this thread, but cant find where to change my gpu settings. That's all the detail I can really give at this point, I'm too PO'd to think straight. I've been looking forward to this update since details where announce, and now I an't play the game!
I'ts gatta have a least a little to do with the update, PLEASE tell me there's something being done about this.

Seriously, another patch another series of login issues?

Can these guys not take some time to make sure patching isn't going to TRIBBLE up logins?

Try booting in safe mode. At the character select screen open options and check your directx setting. Then exit the game and reboot normally.

I get a similar error whenever the options revert to default and that's how I fixed it for some reason the game doesn't work for me unless its in directx9, but it defaults to 10..

Hey. Having a small problem. When i do a basic boot it says that my video card crashes. But when I do a safe boot it loads fine. I would also add that this patch is the only time that this is happening to me. I'm running on a laptop so please don't ask me to update my video driver when it's been running fine up till this point.

A couple are reporting problems logging in due to graphics card problems.

A couple of things that have helped people in the past are:
    * Ensure you've downloaded the most up to date drivers for graphics card
    * In the launcher under options, select safe mode and change the DirectX version to 9

Please post back with what you try and the results they provide.

As the subject line says. I was in a Red Alert versus Tholians and lost connection. For the past half hour I've been trying to get back in and I've gotten as far as picking my character and trying to load them in, only to repeatedly get disconnected from the Account Server. When I try to log back in, it never makes it so I have to go all the way out and wait until it finally lets me in, only to have it happen again.

I don't know if this is the proper place for this post, but it'll have to do for now.

    Stage 1 - Launcher - Options - Safe Mode

Stage 2 - Once logged into the game, options - set up your graphics prefs as usual, do not 'lower' them, that's not the problem. when setting up the options, make sure the mode is set to 'windowed' not 'windowed full screen' or 'full screen'[

Stage 3 - Exit the game while making sure the window is NOT maximized

Stage 4 - re-launch/login as usual, once at the char selection screen you can maximize the window for normal play.

Stage 5 - Un maximize the window before quiting.

That *SHOULD* solve the 'crash on logo load screen' problem.

You have to login in safe mode, then in the options you will be able to change the directx settings. Also, see the notes in this thread about not using full screen or windowed maximized settings.

Now I have te same login issues; I can log in, an make to the character select page, but cannot pass beyond there as it disconects me when I click to launch. Let´s hope tomorrow´s patch can solve this issue.

Be greatful you have broken barrier 1, my child. I can't even load up to character selection! My client crashed on the snazzy new "Star Trek Online: The Iconian War" loading screen.

Of course, I'm also still using the pre-Arc launcher.

That's the exact error message which came up for me in a message box. Thought I'd post it in case a dev sees this post just in case it helps them solve this. The timing for when my crash occurred was just before I got to the character selection screen.

I hope the patch they're doing tomorrow works because I've been looking forward to Season 10.
