Duty Officer Improvements

derekslidederekslide Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Welcome, please add your suggestions as well!

The Duty Officer system is an excellent diversion within a diversion. I, among others, would like to see some more features added and quality of life improved to make Doffing more pleasant and deeper. As stated previously, if you have a suggestion, please add them! The more that do, or comment, the higher chances it will be seen and considered.

My suggestions are as follows:

Starbase Doff donations: Allow all rarities to be inputted and automatically calculate the amount of duty officers donated by rarity. We could use the system in place already where you can exchange a higher quality DOFF for lower quality until you get commons. EX: A Purple Duty officer could be worth 27 Duty officers.

Lower Dilithium costs for upgrading Duty Officers: Please. They were raised to encourage monetization, I understand that. They are too high. Scale them back, 15 to 25%.

Romulan Mission Parity: Give Romulans asylum missions for their refugees (I have never seen one, this may be already in-game.) They could also benefit from unique espionage missions, maybe even a chain that could reward contraband and/or unique duty officers.

More Missions/Chains: The game continues to evolve, yet the Doff missions have remained largely similar or stagnant. Adding new chains and missions during each Season would be pleasant. The community could be leveraged for suggestions on new missions.

Competitive Doffing: Suggested many times before, a competitive pvp element for doffing would be interesting. Keeping it anonymous and non-hostile would be a must, as pvp can be a source of caustic behaviour. An example would be a project to obtain intelligence on the Iconians. The players could perform duty officer missions specific to that goal, and once the specified time had elapsed the player with the most missions completed would be rewarded. To make it more fair, a queue could be created to divide players into groups of 5, so that the same person does not always win.

There is no TL;DR.

Comments? Suggestions? Thoughts?

I'd love more unique DOff missions inside our ship interiors to make them more relevant. The ability to repair your ship or heal your wounds per the dudes on the Spacedock would make a lot of sense too, or we can turn that into a DOff mission as well - replicate medical supplies, select "Heal Bridge Officers" with medical personal, and cut loose on a five to ten minute mission. Same for repairing the ship. Stuff like that.

I like the pvp DOff idea, and I liked the Voth space battlezone spontaneous Doffing too.

Years ago there was a game called Silent Hunter 3. A major part of the game was managing the crew of your submarine. Some officers were better than others and you needed to choose the best for the right stations. But they became fatigued over time and needed rotating. Taking a look at that game might give you some ideas.

The one thing that I want for DOFFing is a mobile app interface. It would be great to be able to DOFF on my phone when I'm away from my PC. :D

I'd just like to be able to keep my Doffs with crafting schools from getting picked automatically for assignments.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

^THIS! R&D DOFFs need to be a separate thing from regular DOFFs. It's a bit of an inconvenience having to look at every DOFF before using them for Fleet projects, or sending them on a mission they might never come back from. Perhaps allow us to assign them to their school, so that they're not available for other assignments, etc.

    I agree.

I perused your proposals and found the Faction one to be quite interesting. I wish Cryptic would streamline systems in-game to make it easier for players, while adding deeper embedded systems like this, which require no input from the user.

id like to see doff missions updated , i do a lot of contraband hunting with my kdf guys but all these missions bombarding/blockading and capturing things from the federation seems out of place since they are all in an alliance now . and some new colony missions in the delta quadrant would be good .

I'd like the possibility to set up loadouts for specific assignments. This way I could override what doffs the game picks for an assignment without picking them by hand every time.

Wrong time line mate, you're looking for Abramsverse not STO.

Definitely more missions and chains. And the ability to purchase additional assignment slots.
