I've put this post up so you can discuss new ideas to add to the game...
I certainly have a few:
- I really would like to see a proper battle PVE with a fleet of ships and commanding officer. The commanding officer could control fleet movements during the battle to try and win.
Any other ideas or comments on my own (Negative and Positive) please post

The closest you will get here is the MOBA style layout of that Undine STF
I'm thinking of having say 15 players in a queue OR a battlezone, give a list of tasks that need to be completed, and then let the commanding player assign each team a task by clicking consoles or using NPC's. This team should then get a line on the ground they could follow to their task. Meanwhile, having NPC's attacking teh base camp, thereby making it necessary to defend this as well, could complete the strategy.

I think if they made it, it would be nice for it to be different to the current battle-zones- I find them quite boring and repetitive.
has been done already but the game was Starfleet Command 10-15 or so years ago...

Allow any ship we own, to be "slotted" as a pet, (like Neverwinter) to assist with the "harder future" content.
I would like to see the Fleet support ability, turned into a "Pet" ability, for those reaching the rank of Fleet Admiral AND obtaining top tier in the command specialization (universal reward ability unlock). The ability would allow us to call on one of our own ships (now that the cool down is minimized at top tier command specialization completion), and use your space Bridge Officer Power tray setup (calling it a Fleet support Tray) on that ship in its AI offensive and defensive abilities. Additionally, it could be commanded similar to ground away teams. completion of the Intel, Pilot, and Command trees reward additional "pets" to be called in support. In the case of "shared" officers/ship components, it would not be allowed on your designated "pet" ship(s).
Allow these ships, and their crews (Doff seating included), to 'level' as either your companion or your primary, effectively allowing you to level multiple ships at once. Allow these ships to use their innate rep power (T6) where applicable. Ships remain until destroyed or instance is changed. The cool down time on Fleet support is only applicable to destroyed pet ships. Pets ships take destruction damage the same as a player.
Allow a Captain Seating rank (for captain abilities) for BO's whose admiral has reached the fleet rank and met the completed command specialization criteria, and has promoted the officer to Captain. Captain BO seating (Tac, Sci, Eng, or Com, Intel, Pilot, Commando) + ship type would determine the X number of powers available on the "Fleet ships pet" tray (suggest 2-4 per pet ship)
Create new Doff/Rep missions for specific "pet" upgrade bonus purposes.
This companion(s) also could also double as a "spare" once your primary ship blows up, or is about to blow up, (complete with beam away animation like the intel Torp skill) to be piloted like a primary ship after beaming to this ship using the 'abandon ship' ability (when a ~10%-20% hull condition is met or automatically), when the need arises.
For PvPers, new strategies and builds, more PvP players, more PvP game modes/maps could be added to incorporate Fleet play design. (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, Assault, Control Points, Conquest, King of the hill, etc. each with their own pet allowances and or limitations as needed for balance. This could lead to more diverse PvP maps as well. Battles would contain anywhere from 5-25 ships per side.
As a former avid PvPer (pre-LOR regular), I would actually like to see this incorporated as a PVP reputation item, with each rep tier awarding a command able pet ship slot(up to 4 max, 5 including the player with a tier 5 rep power), but at this time not enough people participate in PvP as the incentive is currently is not there, this would provide the incentive exclusively. It would also need a proper and level appropriate match making system. PvP needs a valuable commodity that players will want to acquire, that adds to their gameplay experience, even through the pain of playing against the elite pre-mades.
Cryptic wins because:
Ships are monetized
BO's are monetized
Doffs are monetized
Traits are monetized
Crafting upgrades for each ship are monetized
They could add yet another monetized reputation tier
Cryptic could offer "Classic battle STF's" to incorporate some of the bigger historical canon fleet battles as an STF option of some type.
Players win because:
WE get to actually play an admiral in command of our own ships.
WE get another play style option, and even more character/ship customization options.
WE get to play, experience, and level with multiple ships simultaneously.
WE get replay value out of ships we don't play as often.
WE get help in some of the harder instances on demand (once conditions specific end game are met) if needed.
We get the potential epic battles available through added content at end game (Wolf 359 Elite STF??)
WE get a different type of Epic PvP.
WE get usefulness out of the many bridge officers players bought before DR released.
WE get to actually create our playable fleets in our image.
WE get more things to complete (for the completion driven elite)
WE could get FLEET level specific missions, and it also possibly helps to make Elite STFs and their rewards attainable for the non DPS elite players.
WE get power creep in a whole new way (not a fan but such is life)
Just brainstorming, but I think some of this would be cool to add.
