How about this idea... Purchase a token or some type of item in the Zen Store that would allow a Character to Re-Box one of the special ships that they no longer use, say the Jemmy Attack ship???
Now, before you start criticizing this idea, let's make it even more complicated.
Account Bound Re-Box Token: This Token would allow a Character to Transfer a ship on his or her account ONLY. Might I suggest a cost of 1,500 Zen for this.
Unbound Re-Box Token: This is the grand-daddy Token. This would allow a Character to Re-box a ship and do anything with it, give it away, sell it, whatever. My Suggestion for cost on this would be 5,000 Zen.
There is NO DOUBT that this would sell at an INSANE rate in the Zen Store. It would cause some ripples (LOL) on the exchange, but hey... No biggie right?
I personally have about 10 ships (At least) on my account that would be re-boxed as soon as this would happen. So, if there are any other suggestions that some of you folks have, let's hear them, and let's cause Cryptic to read this and pay attention to us
I would definitely buy a couple re-boxing tokens. I think 1500 Zen would be a fair price for an account bound re-box and 2500 for an unbound re-box.
Some players already had large collections of ships on their pre-LoR mains. When the Romulans came, they wanted to make one. They now main a Romulan, but all their expensive ships are on their old main. They can either A. Suck it up and use the ships available to the Romulan faction or B. Buy their entire collection of ships...again...
How many players are actually going to buy a whole new collection of LB ships? Some players might, most probably won't.
Now, if they had a much cheaper option to re-pack the ships, they might end up moving some, or most of their LB ships.
I like this idea. I too would be more then willing to buy zen to re-box a ship to send it to a different toon on my account. I can also see that this would be nice for those that wish to sell the ships would like this. But the investment of 5000 would keep this from being Too much a ripple effect. So if this idea becomes one that is an option i will be one of the first in line.
Whilst I'd support the account bound option, I would code it so that once said ship has been unpacked on one character, it can't be given to that character again (save people boxing back up and trading it time after time). If such a token ever came to light, I would demand the return of my Galor and Jem Hadar Escort from a deleted character (hell, I paid the money to get the damned ships, I'm entitled to have them back). I'd get my Chel Grett back too I think, though that one may be arguable.
As per the general unlock for 5000zen? I'd vote against that simply because Cryptic would lose too much money. Think, a 10-pack of master keys cost over 1000zen. If you purchased 50 master keys, that's roughly 5500zen and most people are going to need to purchase 5x that before they acquire a ship.
It's bad business to allow people to rebox and sell their ships on once they're done with them, though I would agree that people/players should have the option to rebox their own ships for distribution between their characters, much alike zen ships already are; they're account bound with no cost. Your proposal would merely add a cost.
I do believe though that this has been suggested/requested before, and nothing came of it.
Flash, I really think that PWI wouldn't lose any money on this. Just like a major box store in the States doesn't lose money if they sell things for only a 1% profit. It's all about volume!
And sure, 5,000 is a cool price, but I would even be willing to pay MUCH more for an unbound token.
I support this idea, but think the tokens should be account bound only. Ships that are rare, should stay rare. (Like the bug) The current system makes it very unfriendly to new characters. I played my Rom for a little over a month before I realized how much money I invested into lock box ships and lobi sets on my Fed. So now I'm back to stay, stuck on this one character.
Flash makes an excellent point about ships like the Chel Gret. If I really like that ship on my main, and want to make a new fed but don't want to lose my Chel I might just end up getting bored with the game and quitting. (Hypothetically)
I like this idea, its good! I personally think that when you open a lockbox ship pack then it should unlock for all of your characters... I mean you pay about 10 times what a C-Store ship costs!!!!! And they are account unlocks right? The other option is to make C-Store ships the same way so they could be traded but i don't like that idea much.
I've advocated for re-box option for a long time. But 5k is a bit extreme, imo. Cryptic already made their money off someone opening hundreds of lockboxes to get it in the first place. A reasonable re-box option would give them additional income for something they 'sold' already.
If you think it'd hurt key sales, block the re-box option when a ship is currently available in a lock-box. This would also help stablize the Exchange price of ships too.
I like the the account wide unlock token idea as long as you can only have the ship active on one toon at a time. Basically you have one ship and you can trade it between your toons.
I don't like the re-box and sell to others option as that defeats the whole idea of a limited supply. I would love to ditch some of my c-store ships I own like the dreadnought or nebula. Re-selling your ship will hurt cryptic sales as the ships are always available during limited lockbox releases such as now. Now maybe the drop rate should improve on re-releases of lockboxes.

I support the Accountwide Token.
Even at 1000 - 1500 Zen i would buy 2 or 3 (if Breen ships are included) of those immediately!
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
I would love a rebox token but how do you guys figure the paltry amounts you are suggesting the token be sold for would compensate for the loss of the tens of thousands of dollars Cryptic/PWE is currently making, when people no longer need to buy a new lockbox ship for each new character?
Now to be perfectly honest... I SERIOUSLY doubt that every new toon opens every ship that every other toon already has. [Quick Economics Lesson] If there was added to the game, a token that allows one to re-box a ship and then trade it to whom ever he wishes, then the Exchange market would basically go hay-wire for about a month. ALL Lock Box Ship prices would plummet. But you also have to understand, those prices would rebound after a period of time. Probably not to the original prices that we see now, but I would imagine to around 75% of the current pricing on the exchange.
In addition, everyone keeps saying "Rare" ships need to stay "Rare". ie. The Jemmy Attack Ship. DUH! It is rare, even if it was re-boxed it would remain rare, and unless it is offered again in the near future it will stay rare. Re-Boxing does not CREATE more ships in the game, it just let's you spread them out a bit. And for the sake of Cryptic, like it has been noted above, it allows them to make money off of something that someone has already purchased once.
I have every single Lock Box Ship this game has offered, to include the Attack Ship. I would love to be able to put a Galor, or a D'Kora on one of my newer Romulan Toons, and would spend money to do it.
I will campaign for this option to at least be considered and would appreciate any help I might get from the community here. They really do listen... I promise!
I think this is a great idea. Not only its a win/win for cryptic (makes money), but more important, (the player) has a choice to do what ever he wants with the ship.
I think its a great idea you pay to open the lock box after you use it and dont want it you spend more money to get a token to put it back in a box for trade or what ever we need thi8s i bye at least 10 of them lo l:cool:
I would be in favor of this idea, but I don't think Cryptic would go for it. Personally, I'd love to repackage a couple of my rare ships on my Science officer (I experimented around a lot before I fell in love with the temporal sci vessel) and make some of my credits back on the exchange, but I feel like a lot of people would unload many rare ships at once, making the market die for those ships.

500 zen to put a ship into account-bound box. You already bought the ship, it shouldn't cost much to just transfer (not duplicate) something you've already earned. Not possible to un-bind a ship from your account.
I would love to see this become an option. even if the rebox is only account bound like i think it should be. i would love to move some of my lobi or rare ships around to toon that would use them. the issue would be gear that is on said ships. like the Jem Carrier on the toon i have it on now i have the hanger pets being ultra rare attack ships for it. but the toon i would move it too would not have access to it.
That said, 5000 Zen is a lot. It's essentially $50. 1500 isn't cheap, either. Think about how many key you can get with 5000 Zen. Get it on a key sale weekend and you're talking 10 Keys per 1000 Zen, so 50 keys. If you sold that for 2 million EC per key, you'd get 100 million EC. You could just buy a new ship off the exchange for that price as it is, in many cases.
If you were wanting to rebox a ship so it can be re-sold, you'd also have to think prices would drop if there were many people doing this. Greater supply with no change in demand would tend to drive the price down.
The only ships you would ever think of doing that with which could make the cost worth while would have to be something like the Sheshar or Strike Ship.
At a lower price, say 1000 for account-bound and 2000 for unbound, it would sell ridiculously fast. It would totally be worth it to devs and players.
WTB T6 ship, for $30 of hard-earned money, with the following:
1. 8 Weapons, Battle Cloak, and 11 consoles (5 Tac/4 Sci)
2. At least 39,000 Hull at lvl 50 and at least 1.25 Shield mod
3. Commander Tac/Int BOFF and Uni Lt Comm BOFF stations
It could have 5 turn rate and look like a box, but I'd buy it ASAP!
So your saying you'd like to see this thread get locked by the mods. Cuz that's all you've accomplished. You'll see a few responses and BAM. Locked and soon forever forgotten.

I think the cost of a Zen ship would be fair @3000 Zen.
