Okay, I know how to make it so that the channels don't show up in the actual chat box, but I don't know how to delete the channels I've been invited to. There are literally like 30 or 40 channels in my chat settings with check boxes next to them, and it's going to make it hard to pick out which ones aren't spam quickly. (Some guy named Xean and a few other user names spammed me half to death for april fools).
I already talked to support, they redirected me here.
Right click the top of your chat window on 1 of the tabs and the chat options window will appear. In that window click 'Channels' at the top then click on a channel and click the 'Leave' button at the bottom.
Somehow the guy who spammed me made it so that the leave button is grayed out on all the ones he spammed me with. On april fools day he also made it so that one of the invite windows wouldn't close. No idea how he did that. What now?
It's possible thar some channels belong to other games, like the Trade Channel from Champions online  .
If that's the case you need to install those games and leave the channels from there
I never played Champions Online. Never down loaded Champions online. Yet I get their trade chat. So what you are saying is that even though that Champions Online has never been down loaded we have to down load the game just to delete a channel that we never signed up for for a game we never played?
Sounds like Champions Online metrics running low or something? Why else would we need to enter that game to solve an issue in STO?

Seems like Cryptic games share chat channels, Some of my in-game friends used to chat while playing different games. I don't know if this is working as intended or if is a bug
But while you can join those channels from every game, you can only leave by login in into the respective game.
By the way, The Champions online trade channel is a well known issue, AFAIK the only workaround is downloading Champions online an leaving the channel from there

The fact that all three games share a chat server and can have common private channels seems to be intentional. It's been that way since STO went into whichever stage of beta didn't require an NDA. I believe CO and STO used to share the same in-game mail system, to the point that you could at one point view and delete CO mail from in STO, and vice versa. Since that time, they've obviously gone to the effort to isolate the games. (I think they started doing that at about the same time they started putting limits on using the in-game mail as a form of storage.) They've never split out the chat servers.
Unfortunately, it looks like you got hit by a nasty edge case. I don't have any experience with getting channel invites. The only private channel I've ever been in was open to anyone who knew the channel existed and wanted to join. It's nothing to do with CO metrics, however, the chat system has always worked this way. The only bug would seem to be that you can't properly leave the channels.
If you haven't gotten CO yet, you could try using the /channel_join and /channel_leave commands. Depending on how the channels he spammed you with are configured, you might be able to join them manually. Once you've properly joined the channel, it should be possible to leave it, either via the UI or by using the command. If the channels are set up as password protected though, that won't work. (And it's possible they are, if he was aware of the problems he was creating for you.)
To use the / commands, type them into the chat box from within STO. IE, "/channel_join" and then the name of one of the channels he spammed you with. The names might be case sensitive, and they will require that you spell them correctly. And as I said, I'm not experienced enough with this issue to know if it will work at all, but it's something to try if you haven't installed CO yet. I don't think it will help with the CO trade channel though, which apparently might have some separate issues.
Trade was one of the shared channels, until NW came out and the poor dears couldn't understand shared channel.
1. Started reportign people for fake items because the ones not for your game are grey
2.Troll in NW telling everyone he could there, that they weren't shared.
so they separated the trade into game each. But if you were already on trade, the original, you have to delete it from CO, since it was created in CO
Ugh, I don't give a flying squirrel about champions online, can't an admin just go in and delete all the channels that that troll guy invited people to?
