Transporter effect inconsistent?

Like basically everyone I used the DR possibility to create my first Romulan character ever. I am well aware that Romulans aren't a faction at all in STO, but I thought at least visuals are somewhat consistent. But ever since I chose my allegiance (KDF) my Romulan transporter effect got replaced with a Klingon one (using Romulan stock ships) and also the stuff my engineer can beam in looks Klingon, not Romulan. Sometimes though I do get the old transporter effect back, but I figured it's probably scripted in the missions itself.

Is this a bug or WAI?

its bug that they have ignored and moved on.

My fed rom sometimes uses a wrist pad animation to beam out and other times uses a badge that isnt there.

these little things i think cryptic have decided dont matter and moved on cause its been there since release.

    That's mildly disappointing :/

yeah the beam out animations have always been weird for Romulans. Where it gets REALLY weird is with Boffs. Boffs use the animation of whatever race they are, so if you have a human boff... blue. Klingon, red. (Last I checked Kobali boffs always use red, even if they're Feds)

Cut scenes are even stranger since some of the things that make Fed and KDF missions different CAN'T be done with Romulans. such as the shuttle that a previous poster mentioned. There is no actual Romulan version of the mission. So Romulans play either the Fed or KDF version. Any sort of race/faction specific stuff is a hidden fork in the mission.

It was fixed for awhile but was recently broken again with a more recent patch probably like 2 weeks now. Hopefully it gets fixed soon because the red beam in tends to turn me off of playing my romulan and since that is the toon (for better or worse) that I have invested the most time and effort in, it usually means I end up playing something else.

The engineering items tend to favor KDF versions, even for Rom/Feds. As far as I can tell there are no Romulan graphics for Romulan engineers, though Turrets should shoot plasma.

The transporter as Rom/Fed is usually correct, but won't apply to Boffs, so if you use a reward BOFF, like Nelan Exil, they will always use their faction transporter effect. I'm Fed/Rom, so my Nelan Exil is Fed, plus I have a Gorn from Diplomacy, and the other day I beamed up and hade all 2 faction transporter effect display.

    Welcome to the Romulan Fraction.

    About that.... :P

It's a funny bug that happens when you walk around the bridge and the bridge owner isn't there.

From my experience it seems to be what faction the individual character is. When I was doing 'Uneasy Alliances' with my KDF, Sela's beam was green, Van Zyl's was blue, and mine was red even though we were coming from the same haha...

I think it's just too complicated to change the animation each time based on the faction of the ship or whatever is beaming people around.

In STO, transporter effects seem to be an emote that is triggered by an event. And the way the Emote looks is different for various races. Which has nothing to do with the ship the player flies. Actually.... the various non-faction ships should theoretically come with special transporter effects if you were going to do it that way. The game actually has special transporter effects for various alien races already. There's even a special Kobali one. (it looks like they turn into a cloud of grey dust)

@progloria: that example is nice, but I doubt you were the only person to mention that. Also... I suspect you may have received a carefully worded form letter. Basically you liked it due to feeling cared about even though they probably didn't really care.

My transporter color has changed suddenly. I have not changed a BOFF or the ship. But I noticed that, one time I beamed down to New Romuluis, it was green again. I thought they finally solved the issue and I checked whether my beam up to the ship is green again. But no. Still red with these "Klingon TRIBBLE sound".
I've noticed that different uses of a transporter trigger the emotes differently. It's very consistent, each usage works the same all the time, but each usage is unique. sometimes Fed-Rom use the combadge tap emote(like a fed) before beaming, sometimes the wrist tap(like a Klingon), occasionally neither(they just teleport with no emote prior to beam out).

Anyways, as some have noted it works differently before you choose an ally. Apparently choosing an ally actually changes your species.... yeah, really. It's how the game decides what costume options you can use. In the case of KDF-Rom it also changes the transporter color.... for most things.

I'm not really sure, but I think this has been fixed - either intentionally or as a side effect, but my Klingulon now has the green transporter effect when before she used the red one. Need to do more testing, though :)

The transporter for player/npcs is romulan but it seems when beaming in a turret it looks like it's still kdf red...and when beaming in a kit drone it looks like it's fed blue.
