who agrees we don't need more content. we have plenty issue is at this time engineering captians are at a handicap. most of the tier5 to tier6 ships are pointless. 9 out of 10 set pieces offer nothing not broken and autofail that only tactical captians have a puging chance in hell like 95% of the game is bugged enuff that I can see them every few moments when people start loging in.
we do not need more content we have plenty of scraped content to fix and have fun already but I suppose the players only interested in the story are now why the game is all screwed up now like 6 months ago it was all the rich power creeping players that want to add in how much you spend matters and pretty much caused the issue of having more than dubble the broken content as content that's enjoyable
its sad really star trek was way better when thay carefully made changes now I could do better just cutting the power if what people want is to rush out a completely broken game
my engineering captains are working fine, okay, they are not dps monsters due to the lack of apa and fomm, but they still have eps and if you got an rmc, you can cycle between those two along with some boff skills like eptw and other bonuses from the reps and the specs, they can still output some serious damage, the few skills engineers have are life savers in a crunch, the rsf and mw skills are very useful to have and combine it with intelligence spec for flanking, hull regen and shield regen, it should make an average dps engineering captain and his or her cruiser a solid thorn in the side in any fight while having excellent ability to resist being destroyed.
i dont know where you get your information on the engineering captains or their skills, but they dont need an adjustment. same for science or tactical. i mean tactical is an easy one, but science you got plenty of great skills that enhance the destructive abilities you have in your hands.
in the end its how you use your skills.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I think the Klingons need more distinct content. Romulans, too.
Also, what's this about engineering needing a boost? My engineering Federation character is my most powerful one (not in terms of level, in terms of ability to survive a firefight, at least with NPCs). And I'm free-to-play.

time limited ques with autofail make this whole statement completely false.
the ability to servive anything is pointless if you still fail the stf this is a fact!

I don't even know what those are. But then I mostly just play the story missions and the occasional Foundry mission. Never seen a Crystalline Entity in my life, and the only fighting I've done on Qo'noS was part of the Fek'Ihri arc.
So who plays STFs? I haven't even completed all the story missions yet, in part because I don't sit here and grind away at the game until I'm sick of it. (I'm convinced, by the way, that this is what underlies about 90% of the doomcrying in the forums - people who do the same things over and over for hours on end until they're ready to retch, and make themselves think that this is all there is to the game and to life.)
My Engineer can make everyone's abilities refresh faster in space; on the ground, she has support drones and seeker drones and orbital strikes and a pretty badass photon-grenade mortar. Then again, my Science captain can call in all sorts of support in space, and on the ground he can heal himself and others, make everyone's abilities work better, and set fire to the enemy at range; and my Tac captain carries three different kinds of grenades and can enhance his ship's weapons just by thinking about it.
And much of the content plays differently depending on who's doing it, too - not just mission-specific goals like at the old Romulan facility or aboard the Azura, but the way every ground mission plays out. A Tac officer might be best served by charging headlong into danger and throwing explosives everywhere; a Sci needs to be more, well, tactical about things, though, and an Eng has to take a moment to set up before fighting (but once she does, she's damn near impossible to defeat until her drones expire!).
(One other tip - if you're playing a Rom, you have Tovan Khev, for good or ill. And he loves to Lunge. A lot. Give him a lirpa or a bat'leth, and you might be impressed by the results.)
Also the fun of the Pretty Princess Dressup minigame (i.e., the tailor) cannot be understated. It's a truism that MMOs tend to make most of their money from people buying costume options for their toons. I've literally spent hours at a time in the tailor just having fun with the uniforms, even moreso if it was a uniform on an Alien character as I had fun figuring out different species.

Interestingly I don't mind Tovan as a character, personally, but I still find myself wishing that it was possible to ditch him after, say, the founding of New Romulus. Not for my primary Romulan character (who went Federation), but rather because I want to create a second Romulan character (and go Klingon - for the different outfit options, of course, SEE comment about Pretty Princess Dressup, above) and one of the things I'd like is if I could have an entirely different crew.
The customization options in STO are impressive (more on the Fed side than the other two), but if you really want to play Pretty Princess Dressup, check out one of Cryptic's other offerings, Champions Online. I went LTS there mostly so I could have sixteen more character slots to hold my costume ideas; some toons, like Captain Bananahammock or the Duck Knight, are inspired almost entirely by options in the Tailor. (Lifetimers, like 900-Day Vets, get access to Bird People costume parts; when I found out about the duck head, I had to make the Duck Knight.)
Heck, when I found out the April Gold Reward, a squirrel tail, could be colored like a skunk, that instantly inspired my next toon, the sort-of-Manimal Stinky Pete (created by the same crazed geneticist as Supermanx)...

doom crying may be off willfully grinding til im sick of the game is half true the second part the real issue is if you are free or on a budget or simply unable or willing to drop $100s left and right and or log over 200 hours a month thare is no point in trying to be competitive this is true for most of the free to play games now heavy spending or heavy on hours spent grinding or don't bother and sto was not part of this really till the new crafting system but now its like the other few dozen games going down hill revolving around monetization and systemic loss of genuine fun and escape from real life woes

this is a revue with over a dozen free to play games usually having a recommendation to not even waist youre harddrive space but whats real bad is what happened at the end of last summer as thay all read like this
Power Tripping, Unprofessional, Abusive Admins and GM's.
I am not going to sit here and insult the Admin Staff as a whole like some, as there are some who are generally good people who try to do the job properly.
However,
A great majority of the "Visable", Admins, community managers, and GM's etc, are sadly infact exactly the above. They will make comments, level threats, make up rules, or interpret rules to their advantage so they can punish you, just to show you they can.
Not because you actually did something "wrong" or violated a rule, but because you "upset them personally" with something you may have said or an opinion you have expressed.
The main issue I suppose is that if the Admins etc, were to actually follow the rules and enforce them, they would be forced to permanently ban themselves for violating them.... Repeatedly.
Some of the changes to the ships, have rendered them almost useless, when compared to other ships of the same class. Some small tweaks would fix this issue, and Balance between the races is now definitely an issue due to ship specializations, and specifically their assigned special weapons/abilities.
An easy fix to this would be to allow the player to change these like any other module, to whatever they want.
So with that, I can not conciously recomend this, what could be, a fantastic game.
I am not going to stop playing, and of course if the above changes, and the Dev's crack down and get professional admins, rather then immature ones, as well as fix some of the other issues, I will happily change this review, and recomend it in the future,
