Delta recruit ? Worthwhile ?

What exactly is the benefit to this Delta recruit ?

I started a new toon to try and take part but I am finding myself increasingly bored to death of going through the same missions that I have already done countless times with other toons. It's an incredible chore.....

It seems rather than create new content we are being forced to reply all the same stuff again.

With the way the grind is in this game lately and the spec points it's going to need a ridiculous amount of time to level another toon. I have already stopped playing 4 of my other toons due to the grind and yet making another new toon is seemingly being dumped upon us.....

I guess the main reason to their thinking as that, yet again for this new toon they will expect people to BUY inventory slots, to BUY bank slots, to BUY boff slots, to BUY doff slots, to BUY new ships and so on and son on...... I point blank refuse to do this as I have already spent countless hundreds on these things for my other toons. I also subscribe each month so IMO if this is going to be dumped on us, all these unlocks should be account wide ! And not per toon !

Which again brings me back to my main question....

Is making this new toon actually worth it ? My plan is just to limp along with it spending nothing, use whatever account wide unlocks come along with it and then leave it dormant.

    One: Stop being a troll.

Two: If your not being a troll, (and your profile says you've been playing the game for the last 2 1/2 years).. go read the blogs and make up you OWN mind on if its worth doing. I'm not going to do a sales job on ya.. that's Cryptics job... they don't pay me, I pay them.

.... and when Delta recruitment ends.. and all the toons on my account have the spiff goodies on them because I had ONE of toons do the Delta recruit content for a month, I don't wanna see of hear YOU complaining saying you didn't know.

If ya don't wanna do it, then don't.. just don't be whining when its over saying "but I didn't know" when all of the benefits for do it were spelled out in the Dev blogs about it. And thats not even ALL the goodies it has... they left some stuff to be found by the players.. they always do.

What you posting this whine of yours in the Newb forum anyway? You ain't no newb player... This forum is for new players with questions and the folk willing to help 'em..

This event is actually intended to get new players, or those who have left, back in the game. It's 'see the content, catch up to older players quickly'. The account perks are so those of us - like me - who's alt is max level with awesome fun stuff can join in if I want - and if I want to see the story that's changed over the years as a fresh player instead of replaying each mission for reduced rewards.

And let's face it, leveling a character in STO to 50 for the required rewards isn't that difficult. Up until 50, this is one of the fastest leveling games I've ever played.

haven't played all the revamped story content yet, so for me it is a welcome motivation to finally do it.
So far I have to say that the new "old" Story missions are really much much better than when i last played them 3 years ago.

If you have unfinished alts lying around, Delta Recruits get a bunch of boosters for things like reputation marks that make it worthwhile to delete and restart those. Otherwise get the trait, and transfer over the low-level DOFFs, training manuals, dilithium, etc, to your account bank and delete the Delta.

The storytelling integration is pretty well done. Kind of a big wrapper for the upcoming season, I guess.

If you want to create a new crafting alt for the Aegis set, yes.

You get 1 Character Bound Gumarre DOFF that will let you craft Aegis parts on any Delta recruit that reaches level 1 in R&D.

Where do you find this sort of info ? This is the sort of thing that actually might make it worthwhile......

The Delta Recruit final trait looks substantially awesome - perhaps it will be compulsory for any min/maxer to survive any alpha strike...

The Dev blog that was posted on the homepage last week for everyone to see and with lots of details:

really wish people would do SOME research before making a big deal about something.

For anyone reading this thread who is not trolling, the Delta Recruit rewards are spelled out on the main STO site. This was on the main page for awhile:

    http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9116343
Reach Level 1 in any R&D School
5 random R&D School Specialist Duty Officers and "Gumarre" (the Aegis R&D Specialist)

In these forums there is also a sub-forum called "Galactic News Network" that has, surprisingly, news about STO events including Delta Recruitment. To find out about the rewards there is a thread titled (oddly enough) "Delta Recruitment - Rewards":

If you look at a few threads around here, that's how most people seem to do it. Level up the recruit and have your mains profit from it.

Imho the account-wide unlocks (not too many free ship traits, free photonic boffs and permanent devices around) and the stuff you claim with your Delta recruit are worth it, if you have enough alts to cash in on him. The more alts you have, the more worthwhile it gets. The crafting packs you get on your alts can be surprisingly generous.

Since are a lot of fleet marks, rep marks and dilithium involved, it'd also depend on weather you need more unrefined dilithium and if you have a fleet where you can dump fleet marks.
