In some ways I really wish this wasn't a joke. Surenit was an unpolished mess, but it wasn't everything I hate about current sto.
No pathetic money grabs. Exploration clusters existed. You could level how you wan't to level, no forced railroading to pad metrics. Pvp was not just some insta kill gank fest... you had us klinks actually zwooping in and the infamous feddie ball we all derided as cowardly, but secretly hated to see.
All in all, if it was polished up, it would be a better game then the greed infested, unbalanced, power creeped, thing we have now

I agree there. I enjoyed things more when the game launched. Now... it's just a greedy, grindy suck-fest. What I REALLY miss is the diplomacy missions. Those were FUN and INTERESTING!!! The diplomacy corps. was one of the more fantastic additions back then and it really made the game feel more like Star Trek. The exploration clusters, too. Turning it all into doff missions was a bone-head move that took away a great function from the game.
You actuality had me going there for a min. until I read
Zephram Cochrane once said, Thatll do, pig. Thatll do.
Nice.
BTW, when compared to all other forms of entertainment, this game is by fare the best value per dollar and the most enjoyable dispite it's faults.
Yeah, it has to be an April Fool's joke, but you know what....maybe they should turn the Redshirt Server into Old Holodeck, give us an opportunity to see what was, especially for all those new players who don't know how much as changed.
Sad thing is, I would end up spending more time there than on the holodeck. That was when the game was about content, story, exploration, and most of fun. Not of that grind now for little to no rewards, and grind for rep.
As long as they allow LoR, and the full Klink faction, I would pay a lifetime subscription just for that, even if I couldn't buy anything from the c-store on that server.
I've seen cryptic make some questionable decisions so for a moment I actually bought into this insane idea. It would be hilarious to hear what players thought after experiencing the original release of STO on redshirt who have only been around a season or two. The experience was so drastically different. Ive been here since launch and my first toon was an engineer in a cruiser as well. I have the perspective to appreciate this April Fools joke. Thx guys, what a hoot. LOL, good one.
We're pleased to announce the official launch of Star Trek Online: Rebirth on our Redshirt server! Come join the fun and nostalgia!
Wat?! *patches redshirt* You better nots be all time wasting me?! I wanna see the horrifying nostalgia and the klingon sword masters that would cripple me in 4 slashes

Oh. It's real.
Just uh... be careful about alt-tabbing.
I think the biggest joke is that Arc is trying its best to get me to play Star Conflict!
Really guys? I'm already playing one MMO (tons of time and money invested), which is about to start a new campaign, followed closely by another and I have time to start all over with a new MMO, how?
Been too long since the last server reset. Some players have gotten so powerful that no one can possibly catch up. If we had a reset once every, say, three months?, I think that would work. They should also set challenges for each time with rewards that carry over. For example, if someone plays through all of the episodes before Delta Rising, they get access to a special t1 ship. Include Delta Rising, and get a permanent experience boost.
So, question...will the code on my retail copy still work? Or will that even be necessary? I just want to make sure that I'll still have my promotional items when the new round starts.
I honestly wouldn't mind this happening to the live server if we could just keep the Episode missions, Romulan semi faction, and the Oddy uniforms on all the NPC's.
I'd gladly trade in my established characters for a server with no lockboxes, no fleet grinding, and NO HELL LEVELS!!!

I would go back to pay to play without the gambling in an instant.

As much as I know this is a AFD joke, in a weird sense, if there *was * a "Retro* server, it would be a good way to showcase where we were, where we are ,and where we are going.

Same here! I have a Lifetime sub, and I'd still happily pay a monthly sub, if it meant never exiting ESD to see an armada of enemy alien ships surrounding Earth again.

"The higher the fewer."
How long will it be up there? It's gonna take a long time to download I fear.

"Unable to start game client: The system cannot find the file specified."
What's up with that?

I got that too , but then I did a force verify and now it is patching along very nicely now.
