Borg Red Alerts not fun anymore.

The sector space revamp is great. Really. It is a huge quality of life improvement and visually stunning. However, I see that the old Borg red alerts become just become Deep Space Encounters. You go, kill a bunch of probes and spheres and that's it. It became so easy that I can do with my ship unshielded and with my BOff on vacation. That is not fun. It diminishes from the game. Also, since it is a 5x XP instance, it would make grinding XP less painfull. So, I would like to request for the old Red Alerts to come back. Even if the bonus XP had to be adjusted (it would make sense, since players will be able to access the RA more frequently with the merge). But, please, return the instace, for the fun of doing it.

Thanks Cryptic for introducing the Kelvin Timeline. It remembered why I decided to never more put any money on this game.

red alerts should be brutal! Waves after waves of the Borg, invading our worlds! Space victory means the end of it. Failure means we go to ground and defend the planet to the death!

I could get behind this. More days than not, I miss the original Borg STFs which had both a space and a ground components.

That would be fun. But I think they are already kinda of doing this with the Iconian threat.

Honestly, for me the simple return of old RA would be good enough. It was a fast and fun mission, rewarding descently. If what is on Tribble becomes the norm, I might very well simply start to ignore the RA. Except for Tholian RA. These are untouched and worth playing.

Definitely agree that the old style of Deep Space Encounter for the Borg Red Alerts isn't entertaining at all.

I'd also like to see better level scaling. At this point it seems like everything is 44, so these are rather old DSEs from even before the level increase to 50. Either scale the players down to the level of the DSE, or perhaps make them a bit narrower and more selective on the range of the red alert. Either way, a change like that would be greatly appreciated.

Scaling down is not the problem, I think. As deaftravis said, we are already scalled down. These are just the old DSE which are inherently easy and one get bored easily with them. So, it does not seems to be reasonable to remove a perfectly fine piece of content (the RA) and replace with something less desirable (the old DSE).

The whole "Red Alerts" thing needs a revamp to make it more interesting. Red Alerts should happen in system maps and ground maps (social zones). Location and race can be random. (Random selection of Voth, Borg, Undine, Jem Hadar, etc, attacking ESD, SOL, Vulcan, Andoria, New Rolumus, etc)

It doesn't matter if you are scaled down or not as long as the mobs are -15. Want to take a guess how that translates into experience?

The mission texts however still have references to the current command ships so there is the faint hope that whoever coded the new sector alert timer simply hooked up the wrong encounter maps.

The one and only reason alerts are semi popular again is that they are a xp boost zone with still decent amounts of xp. Not awesome any more but still decent.

And replacing that with rehashed borg DSEs fullfills my 'revamped and improved' borg RAs joke in the worst possible way.
