Every evening for some time now, the rubberbanding and server disconnects have got worse.
We are told to put in a ticket about it, but it seems to me that nothing gets done.
I think Cryptic are obsessed with money and what they can get out of all and any players.
Some of the narrow minded Fanboys on here call us moaners and whiners if we complain, but if they stretch their minds just abit more, they might find out that its for another reason.
That is, that we love this game and want it to work well with no bugs and no disconnection problems. A properly reliable game= Happy players.
Are these bug problems, rubberbanding and server not responding problems ever going to be sorted out properly? I doubt it, so long as cryptic has got their money coming in.
As well as doing a trace test on here, I did one on Facebook too, which to the best of my knowledge is also based in california. Both trace tests were very similar and facebook always came through fine, no server not responding problems. They don't use cogentco.
Instead of not caring or giving a damn about us players, I wish cryptic would get onto Cogentco and work something out with them, and to stop this current throttling of internet traffic.

Point of Information: STO servers are not in California, they are in the Boston, MA area.

Our end-to-end optical transport network consists of IP-over-WDM fiber links running up to 580 Gbps intercity capacity and 320 Gbps on metropolitan rings, located in Cogent's major markets throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
On the IP layer, Cogent's Tier 1, IPv6 and MPLS enabled network has direct IP connectivity to more than 5,270 AS (Autonomous System) networks around the world with over 58,300 Gbps internetworking capacity.
Being a facilities-based carrier, Cogent takes advantage of full end-to-end control over its transport and routing technology to provide reliable and scalable service.

Read it alittle more carefully. I did not say the servers were in california in the first place. yes i know their in Boston.
I was refering to cryptic and facebook themselves based in california, not the servers.

Running Trace Route and compring it to Facebook because "they are both in California" makes little sense when the trace to Cryptic ISN'T GOING TO CALIFORNIA.
Yes, I read your post, reding it again, I stand by my first post here.
Think a little more carefully.

No Idea where the west europe servers are but they are fine without problems. Just played a whole weekend with one lag and that was my own server rebooting LOL...
But I wish you guys stop assuming directly the worst case scenario...

Dunno but the stink of "Maintenance Mode" is becoming hard to ignore :
- Introducing lots of Grinds the "Casual Joe" could spend years on ...
- Finally introducing Iconians ... the "Big Bad" since day 1
- Opening up lots of Foundry Doors for players to fill
- Hardcore Recycling of Content ("Uneasy Allies" [Nopoda, Hakeevs Base, Sphere of Influence], S10 PVE Queues on Qo'noS, "Delta Recruits", etc)
- Event "Bombardment" to keep people playing ...
- sadly the whole "Layoff" - Thingie
- "special" Ship Promos every 2 months or so ...
- Dead PVE Queues
- Steam Charts

So you didn't play for the whole Weekend ... because it included 2 Server "Shutdowns" & 1 Emergency Maintenance ... not saying it's a sign of "DOOOM" but you're either outright lying, or don't know what you're talking about ...
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
you do know doom threads are not allowed, right? the game is always full of issues, it never stopped having issues since day 1. i think cryptic has settled for working with issues, as if anything is perfect.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Oh hold on.....we are in maintenance mode because they are giving us content, layed off a few ppl ( blizzard layed off 600 deves in 2012 and it seems they are ok) and they are completing a story line 5 years in the making so they can develop another big bad........im kinda loosing you here I think. A game in maintnence mode would be kept where it is with no new content and purely fixing game breaking problems
Being a facilities-based carrier, Cogent takes advantage of full end-to-end control over its transport and routing technology to provide reliable and scalable service.
Its a form of business IT-ese...basically it says that cogent controls alot of the network fiber across the land. The issue is usually at the point in which your IP and cogent meet. Cogent charges them X for bandwidth and your IP is likely willing to pay Y. At which point they give a certain priority to the people who pay, or at least thats how it used to work. In this wonderful new reality of Net Neutrality, only those who have found and read the new regs know what the what is.
Now with that said, there is still a chance that the issue is also in the datacenter too. The number of issues they have had of late with ip banning and probable hardware failures on network switches have been on an uptick, but there is only so much control over that from california. All we can do is growl at people and see if they get the message that it would be nice if they could do proactive hardware maintenance and not break/fix

What "content" are you referring to ... dialogue options in 5 year-old missions ?

Oh please ... not that "If you don't ..." - Fortune-Cookie-Wisdom again, I still want to play ... and I might enjoy "Delta Recruits", and I might enjoy "S10" ...
... but nothing is going to stop me to use my brain & worry for the future of this game -> please go back to 2011 and tell everyone playing SWG, the exact same thing ...
PS : Please share "Details" about the upcoming "Iconian War" (afaik it's 3 New PVE Queues) ... if you can ... I might agreee with you ... until then I'll stay sceptical ...

Well ... maybe ... but after Iconians ... what's left ...
Well, I really think that once Sela uses Time Travel to help defeat the Iconians, she's gonna pull a Biff Tanner and give her past self enough future knowledge to be the next Super-Bad. There's just so many reasons this would make sense for Cryptic to do, if we stop the Iconians, that's what I expect to see next.

To put a little perspective on this... I was told over 2 years ago, when I bought my LTS, not to waste my money as STO had no more than 6 months left in it, yet here we are on the cusp of S10...
Simply because the Iconians have been revealed means nothing, the Iconian War could easily be stretched over multiple seasons (the initial invasion, the Alpha/Beta quadrants on the brink of collapse and the inevitable turning of the tide) and there's nothing stopping Cryptic dredging up some other obscure STO reference as another enemy there after...
It's also been mentioned that new Dominion related content may be in the works and a return to the Gamma Quadrant is possibly on the horizon...
STO is far from being shut down, or even placed on life support as it stands now...
The thing to remember here is that its a game. eventually it will die. ill be like "well TRIBBLE" and look for another game. Don't get me wrong im a lifer, but I think doom threads are kinda useless kinda like the guy at the corner with a doom sign. my suggestion is to play the hell out of the game so when it eventually moves on you can say you did all you could.
Stuart you made a post yesterday about the issues you were having, I replied with the link that has information that you need to post to even help you, and you then make this thread asking if they've abandoned you.
If you're not going to provide the information that is necessary then no, no one can help you. Just saying "the traceroute looks fine" without any other information doesn't help.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. But I do agree. Seems like EVERY time something comes up, people warm up the Doom-O-Meter.
