Umm...I imagine they get your average mods, I don't know if many if any people bother to upgrade those weapons since Tetryon is probably the lowest rated damage type in the game

Piercing Tetryons should get the same chances for, and types of Mods as anything else which is Upgraded.

As to lowest rated damage type. Nope. Incorrect. All weapons do the same base damage. The type, procs, and mods determine where and how much of this damage gets applied to the target(s). Tetryon weapons are shield strippers. Once the shields are down they lose their proc but they keep their damage and mods against a hull. A 10,000 HP Crit with a Tetryon weapon against bare hull is still a 10,000 HP Crit.

I have a FT5U Mogai with Nukara Rep Tetryons which is more than capable of taking down anything in PvE. I tried this out because "everyone knows" Tetryon weapons "aren't any good". I wanted find out for myself if this was true (it isn't) and I spent the time and effort to do so.

I run all Tetryon Mk XIV CritDx3 Beams.

    Why?

Because they're blue.. and because no one else uses them.

Also, if you choose to buy them.. they're a little cheaper then anything else.

I have absolutely no problems using Tetryon, I have another character that runs all Romulan Plasma and my 3rd runs all Phaser. I honestly don't notice any difference at all in any of them with the exception of the Color.

I never tried upgrading the piercing ones though, I might have to try it just to see.. but I assume like other said that it would get the same random mod chance as anything else.

I am wondering about the modifiers like [acc] or [crtd] etc. when going to very rare & ultra rare, since I'm working on a plan for delta recruit event.

    I have.

And it isn't. The Proc is worthless.

Well I had 8 episode Polarized Tetryons, and had upgraded 2 of them to mk xiv.
Thing is they changed my beams on me, they used to have a 10% proc...
But they changed it to 5%. Which totally killed my desire to continue upgrading them.

The piercing or "new" polarized Tetryons are servicable pve weapons. The possible mods are the same as any other beam. Will have to double check but I believe the the episode tetryon beams come with 2 fixed procs. But the rest would be the usual random mods.

The tetryon shield drain proc, is probably more useful in pvp though. As the enemies in pve have ginormous shield counts. So the procs effect isnt even really that significant/noticeable at best. It doesn't impress imo, unless your draining from other sources.

I'd say there's more desirable/efficient weapon procs out there. But at the end of the day, there's not going to be huge gap, like mentioned, base damage is still the same as all other weapons.

Not sure who told you that, but it's not true. CritDx3 Tetryon Beams are the same color as Tetryon Beams with any other mods, Blue.

Pretty sure he was talking about the item's rarity color, not the weapon color, meaning he either misunderstood the blue reference or he was trolling.

Anybody else a fan of "Phased-Tetryon"? I like it because of its color but also just its overall rarity.

Tetryon's shield drain proc is just as bad in PVP as it is in PVE. The issue is that even with high Flow Caps, the shield drain proc just doesn't do anything. Players may not have the massive shield points of some NPCs, but they have resists, power insulators, shield regeneration, etc.

If you don't want to go the FOTM energy weapon route and want a Flow Caps-based proc that actually affects shields, whatever has the Polaron proc is better. Especially if Polaron proc-based weapons are used in conjunction with power draining abilities like Energy Siphon, Tyken's Rift. Then you also have Tachyon Beam that a player can use...

The difference with Polaron and Tetryon Proc and their effectiveness with Flow Caps is that Polaron proc attacks the Subsystem Power levels. Tetryon proc is raw shield damage that doesn't scale well enough for PVE and PVP. Polaron has uses in both PVP and PVE. Other than just bucking the FOTM trends and getting cheap weapons with good mods, Tetryon just doesn't have a real competitive place.

There are no such things as "bad procs". It's simply that some procs are subjectively better than others. Having a tetryon user in a group is a nice bonus for everyone, especially vs "bosses". What's even better is that the proc attacks each shield facing.

Tetryon Recluse with adv/elite widows or weavers? That's a lot of potential shield damage on target. I've seen enemies with no shields (not just a 1-2 sec disable that you get with polaron) numerous times.

Oh, and Tetryon bad in pvp? (pfft, like ppl pvp anymore) Again, targets with no shields die faster than those with shields. Only the smart players will realize a drawn out fight vs a tet user is going to be bad, especially vs. said recluse with widows/weavers.

A version of tetryon that is slightly more useful than the standard is the destabalised variant, the shield drain becomes a dot instead, so rather than a chance to go off now and again it can linger and help to counteract shield regen.

its still kinda weak, but slightly more useful than the standard proc.
