Honestly, I came here to rant. I was going to add my voice to the others already complaining about the broken episode. But I just saw that you guys are taking the servers down to patch things and fix them already. The very same day. In the evening for you guys; meaning that Cryptic employees will be going to home late tonight, after a very long day. Also meaning (I hope) that the company will be paying overhours.
I know the decision to emergency patch the very same day couldn't have come easily, or cheap. And that once that decision was made, it couldn't have been easy to develop, test (I hope!), and deploy the fix in roughly 12 hours.
Shouldn't have happened in the first place though, should it? If they fully tested their episodes before releasing them then we wouldn't have this problem. It's not as if this is a limited occurrence either; it happens far too often.

Not to defend cryptic, but even insanely massive studios have issues with proper QA, hell just look at that recent assassins creed game with all those graphical issues, nobody can get everything right 100% of the time, its unrealistic to expect them to

Internet stuff is inherently unstable. Accounting for that takes a LOT of money, and I expect Cryptic can't afford that.

That is a terrible example, and should not be considered ok or the norm. That is unacceptable how that AC Unity went down.

Even the companies that can afford to have QA departments that are bigger than all of Cryptic have troubles. And some things are outside of their control or unforeseen or just plain didn't come up when they tested it before. It happens.
Like the server stuff? That's not Cryptic. That's another company, and they may well be bound by contract to keep doing business with these guys. And contract laws are very unforgiving of trying to back out of a deal.
But they work hard and stayed up to 17 hours at the office yesterday trying to get this nailed down. Keep that in mind.
"If you don't have time to do it right the first time, how will you make time to do it over?"
This was an admonition I was raised with from a young age; it is no less true today, and Cryptic/PWE is deceiving themselves if they think otherwise. Rushing "product" out the door without Quality Assurance (i.e. testing), will NOT generate more revenue, in fact, it is a major cause of player alienation & revenue LOSS...

I'm impressed. Well impressed. So kudos to you.
I am also thankful for the quick response, but realistically the patch work was most likely done during normal work hours for most of them. The new mission was released first thing yesterday morning(for them) and they were immediately made aware of the bugs, so they probably started working on a fix right away. But someone obviously had to stay around late to apply the patch, so that person or persons did have a long day.
I know this is a weird little detail, but I also wanted to say that when you have that conversation with Sela on her ship, you can see your own ship on the viewscreen. I thought this was a really nice, fun, and immersive detail. Kudos for that. I'm not sure why, but it makes me really happy.:)

Yeah, that was a nice touch, and made the scene even better.

The new stuff rarely works on launch day, as much as I enjoy most of the new content (I really do) they do a terrible job testing.
This game has 2 test servers (Redshirt, Tribble) and nothing gets tested. Baffling.
It is however, nice that they fixed it right away instead of just letting it sit until they got around to fixing it. So points to them for that.
