RAGE Jem'Hadar Hanger Pet

f0xef0xe Member Posts: 31 Arc User
over a year ago i spent a lot of money to get the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship so i could unlock the Hangar - Elite Jem'Hadar Attack Ship pet.

I kinda feel screwed, because there is nothing unique about the Jem'Hadar Attack ship any more except for its name.

even if the hanger pets had the same stats but looked different i would be ok because I got something unique for my money.

I'm probably blowing this out of proportion but this really made me sick when i learned about it.

LATER POST

I'm not debating that they are different ships. I'm just pointing out that the JHSS can do Everything that the JHAS can do AND MORE. Witch makes my JHAS worthless if you have the JHSS.

I acquired the JHAS Thinking that even if they have a successor to it. It would still have some value through the Hanger Pet.

example:

1.
Sao Paulo Tactical Escort Refit = Outdated by the fleet Escort
Sao Paulo Quad cannon console = Still useful and unique

2.
T2 Gladius Class Escort = Outdated by Tier
Fleet Escort retrofit can use the Gladius skin if you own the Gladius Escort

EVERY PURCHASED SHIP IN THIS GAME GIVES YOU SOMETHING UNIQUE. a console, a skin, something.

EXCEPT FOR THE JHAS.

The jhss issue is worse than that.
Probably the worst or issue they have ever done. They said it would be t6, but after everyone gambled on it, they changed their minds.
I think banning players because of a bug makes more sense.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

I hate to say it, but nothing has really changed, yes they've released a somewhat updated version of it (it had to happen at some point I guess). But the original still sells pretty well so it may still be considered a worth while investment or a symbol of wealth. And no doubt if the game continues for long enough the new Strike ship will eventually get replaced and someone else will post the exact comment you have.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

Well no surprise. Anyone with a bit of foresight saw this coming.

    =(

    I love STO.

my favorite part about delta rising was how all the gear i worked for didn't become obsolete with the new expansion. THAT'S AWESOME.

Its without a doubt my favorite part of STO.

My biggest beef with WOW was how I would work my but off to get the best gear in the game and a couple of months later that gear was obsolete.

I worked very hard to get my JH attack ship. Much harder than i did to get my new T6 JH Attack ship. it just makes me a little sad that EVERY aspect of the original is included in the T6 version and there is nothing unique about the original. Even the stats are the same. I can literally delete the original and loose nothing.

As someone that has both the JHAS and JHSS, I have to say they are actually two very different ships. The JHSS is more flexable, has more options, but there is such thing as too many powers and abilities. Its a very high end ship that takes a lot of tinkering and toying with to make comfortable.

I've stripped the console and put it on my JHAS and enjoy it quite a bit more to be honest. The JHSS looks to be more geared towards PvP, which I avoid like death itself, but to someone thats competitive in that area of the game it would be the more attractive of the two. For your average player however (who avoid PvP) the JHAS is much more user friendly.

JHAS: Windows XP a little old, but works perfectly.
JHSS: Windows 8, new, shiny, and makes you want to strangle whoever made it so complicated.

The Unique thing about the JHSS besides a new appearance options are the fact it's the first ship in game so far to combine both Intel and Command abilities into one ship, on an already very powerful Escort

I wouldn't have minded to see unique Hangar pets for the JHSS variant too... but that would suggest pets with Intel and Command powers and that would make things too much I guess

Yeah, you're blowing it out of proportion. This is no different that promo items in other games being made available again or in a new form.

In fact, Cryptic was merciful to the JHAS owners' egos. They could have made an entirely separate JHSS Frigate Pet that uses Command skills at Advanced and both Intel and Command skills at Elite. Imagine those being able to stack Overwhelm Emitters at Advanced, and Overwhelm Emitters + Surgical Strikes 1 + one of the debuff/disable abilities like Ionic Turbulence or EM Probe at Elite. Then Cryptic would have warranted the bitter taste of bile.

Except they didn't, and both JHAS and JHSS share the same pet unlock. The only lost ego at this point is that those who hoarded their JHAS too long to sell have lost out. Only the most desperate, or ones looking for pretending nostalgia, would go for the JHAS at their current prices.

LOL at you guys that seriously thought that the T5 JHAS was going to get a ride to T6. When no other T5 ship had that option, even after the fact the precedent had been set with the T5/T5U Intrepid and the T6 Intrepid/Pathfinder.

This, they already announced a new level cap will come sooner or later (in a Geko interview, right after DR). Which means, yep you guessed, T7. And T6U probably.

They are probably making a ton of money. Selling a T5, then a token for T5u, then a T6.
I'm pretty sure defiant, vesta, and some good selling ships are already being prepped for T6.
Let's do the maths : 20-25$ for T5, 5$ for token, then another 30$ for T6. And if they keep doing that, another 500-700zen for the next upgrade to T6u, and finally a good 40$ for T7. By just reselling the same ship over and over, with some minor tweaks (code and design wise). Cheaply made, expensively bought.

It seems the Ferengi have taken over Cryptic at some point. It was rather gradually, but now, they are here. And they want our latinum.

The takeover wasn't a gradual thing. It was immediate. How much did those C-Store ships cost again? People used to pay that much for Expansion Packs on a game, but those costs are for a single ship, not content. It cost that much right away.

And I still remember the drama of the Galaxy-X. It was originally a reward for players that suckered, I mean, had several referrals to join STO. Then later on it comes out on the C-Store.

We also cannot ignore the most Captain Obvious of profiteering in STO that was introduced long, long ago: Lockboxes.

I'll just stop with that :D

To each their own, but I honestly find the JHAS to be a tougher ship. JHSS is only good if it can keep shooting, its healing abilities are limited unless you give up fire power. JHAS is more rounded.

If you are in a JHSS and weapons get disabled, you're in a lot more trouble than if you are in the JHAS. But thats just been my experience since getting it. Int and Com are useful, but all out offense gets you killed fast without some defense.

So in an inversion of your example of the Sao Paulo, again, I harvested the console FROM the JHSS and use it on the JHAS. I just think its a better ship and easier to fly.

Same with the new Command Cruisers. They arent bad, they have their own little nifty tricks, but after giving them a go I switched my Cruiser Captain back to her Galaxy X, more fire power and durability without needing Uni-consoles.
