Greetz.

Now, writing (read upgrading) the bio of my character ended up in END OF FILE (read, not enough characters to be written).
Not able to complete my character's biography, I am somewhat stuck.

Question: can the allowed amount of characters be doubled, please?

I am pretty sure all role-players could enjoy this.

Thank you.

    Hello!
    I support this!
Don't double it, at least quadruple that space! :) And make it a bigger, easier to handle/ edit window please!
Now it is barely enough to write a human's career in it, not to mention a species with longer lifespan.

Maybe they could adjust the properties and set it to a memo field rather than whatever it is now (I know it's not a text field, one of my toon's bio is upwards of 800 characters)

I support this too. Not because I need it, but because it won't hurt anyone if this change is made ;)

Edit: one thing that may be interesting too: perhaps add a special 'quote-area'? For example, my first character had the quote: "Klingons are not honourable. If they were, they wouldn't use cloacking devices."

It would be nice if such a quote or signature had its own place in your character information screen.

Yeah, I support this. I've hit the limit on several ocassions, due to expandng of several areas of the bio simply because of the character's progression in the game, being assigned to new ships, etc.

I got around this by writing a googledoc then pasting the link. If anyone was interested enough to read my profile then clicking a link is no small task.

    But yes I'd support this.

I understand your plight, and until they make a change, I would like to make a suggestion. First, type the bio out on Word or a similar document and have a friend or two proofread it. If you are like most people, your writing is probably wordy and with some editing could be streamlined.

My role at my job requires a lot of report writing and many of the workers have been doing this job for hears, and hold legal degrees (JD's & ED's), their peer reviews still have them cut between ~10-15% of their report content.

I never understood why people want their full character bio in their description.

Do people go around reading these?

If you were doing it from a purely RP perspective, then wouldn't your description be limited only to things that can be told by physically looking at the character? Physical traits, things that people can see. If you're an RP'er, you would determine the characters story by speaking with and interacting with them would you not?

I guess I just don't understand why people need to put an entire novel in their character bio. Who benefits from this?

I'm not trying to bash, I just really don't get it.

I'd say, sure why not. Even though I have nothing written there and never read anyone else's.

Be good to increase the ship name llenght limit at the same time. We know this is possible in the game, because the character creator lets you give a long name for your starter ship and it works. The 16 characters is just a UI limit.

But requests for longer ship names has been ignored and the biography extension is probably in the same boat.

forgetting adding a few more characters the whole character ui needs an overhaul with the ability to view a larger page on the side with the entire character, somewhat like the gateway system has but in game. you want to view yours or another characters information screen.

you got the basics on the right, starfleet history, employment history, and a complete background biography beneath that. on the left is a character an interactable portrait along with current selected starship. with a tab above to select over to the starship of that character, the details on that one on the right, its history and on the left the interactive ship portrait.

there is a lot of ways to make it easier, but with anything logical, its backwards for cryptic, because its too logical or they dont care to notcie.

I used to love reading bios in City of Heroes...didn't know we could do that in this game

It's because most RPers have mastered the art of what THEY know, and what their CHARACTER knows.

They can read a full bio without spoiling potential RP.

He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

Adapt it into a foundry series, plenty of room there.
