Research and Development Weekend [3/19 - 3/23]

Hey Captains! The Research and Development weekend is returning shortly! This event will run this weekend from March 19th at 9AM PDT to March 23rd at 10AM PDT. This is a great opportunity to get ahead on all those schools you've been working on!

    In all seriousness though, is there a catch to this event?

    Will R&D boxes only grant rewards if they're bought or obtained during this time period (kind of like Promotion Boxes)? Or do some that hoard R&D boxes get the bonus even if they stockpiled prior to the event?

    Well, I was trying to hide the fact that each R&D box is actually a hidden Undine agent waiting to infiltrate your ranks and then once the time is rig-

    But-but it's already hard enough dealing with a crew of Photonic Beings who "die" repeatedly and rarely ever get the ship sailing smoothly. What are we going to do if the Undine hijack our ships and turn them into lawn party boats?

    Although, it really would be funny if you/Cryptic would make a random NPC spawn when popping open those R&D boxes on April 1st, everything from a tribble on the ground to an Undine or Borg. Just for April 1st, so that they can't be abused like Party Amps, even though they do spawn an NPC visible to all on the same zone map.

    A) Thanks for the bonus R&D skill points. I have several Alts that could use the bump.

    B) I think so, but just want to confirm, during this bonus R&D weekend, do the C-Store R&D Packs get the extra 25% worth of goodies while also still having 10 Lobi or chance at the new T6 Bug from this event?

    In other words, this weekend, are both events in effect for C-Store R&D Boxes?

    Yep! This weekend you'll find that any boxes that you get will be quite the opportunity. :)

    Cool, that's good news, and I'll pony up a couple bucks to add to my stipend and open a few boxes just for funsies.

    The Iconians are gonna TRIBBLE neutronium when they come to kill us but we have Tier 30 gear and have turned every starbase into giant weapons systems.

    It's OK, I have a hidden Devidian in Starfleet ranks who can fight that threat. ;)

    Good, I have a couple more schools to finish off. So this will help me out. Then I will have all schools at Lv15. Plus hope I can find more rare items from scanning.

    Its sad people complain every time you do anything. Its a MMO suck it up butter cup. Thanks Cryptic. For doing what you can to help us. PWE is known for this type of game play. Sto is the best of them all. Its not going to change till someone else buys it out. So hang on for the bumpy ride or just jump off.

    Thx for the reminder. So is a better participation in PvE queued maps during weekend to be expected than we had on recent marks event? Empty queue lists don’t help me to change my weekend plans in favour of STO. In any case I will log 4 times the next few days to make sure my schools are running and help you on your log-in quota.

    Since we all seem to fight side by side against a common danger of imminent destruction how about you guys in the making of STO use this opportunity to make selectable modifiers on crafted items work?

    We get potent gear to fight your Iconians and you get happy customers in return.

    These are exciting times and there seems to be so much at stake. :rolleyes:

    it would have been nice to see a higher chance to crit and get double or treble quantity or get quality booste return on items crafted during this event.

    also a 1 time claim free bonus crafting materials pack for each character would have gone down well.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    WHY! Why did you guys make phasers suck so much? In the old days, they could even take off alien-bug infested head and then blowup the the ugly mother-ship bug living inside the body.

    But now... NOW they can barely tickle a tribble. You know what you need to do, don't you?

    In case you cannot tell, I kid. I must be kidding since this game a hugely expanded game of rock paper scissors. It's more like...

    Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock, Bird, Water, Phaser, Disruptor, Klingon Bat'leth, Nausicaan Tegolar Sword, Tsunkatse Falchion, Vulcan Lirpa, Vulcan Ahn'woon, Ushaan-tor, Varon-T Disruptor, Ferengi Energy Whip, Sonic Shower, Silicon, Duranium, Tritanium, Neutronium, Dilithium, Bio-mimetic gel,, Trellium-K, Argonite Gas, Radiogenic Particle, Plekton Particle, Dentarium, Craylon Gas, transparent aluminum, Adamantium, Kryptonite, Vibranium, Mithral, and about a million other similar fictional nouns.

    Now, if I could just figure out which fictional noun my Phasers trump, I'd be set.

    btw - I'm really good with Treknobabble if your team ever needs help with writing. Um, never mind. There are plenty of JAVAs for that. :)

    You mean the freebie R&D doffs, right?

    I mean, think about it. All these officers shipped to you in an unmarked box from 'starfleet', with no discernible skills or personality, who insist on working with all your weapons and shields?

    Sounds like infiltrators to me!

    The maps for the KDF sortie missions in Pi Canis sector do not reward any bonus materials, dilithium, or catalysts, just in case anyone at Cryptic cares about yet another KDF only issue.
