STO has such great potential, Delta Rising had such high potential, but instead it got screwed up with things like the whole T5-U fiasko and the massive early XP nerfs early on amongst other things.

But his and other devs layoffs are quite likely a consequence of DR's poor performance. Sadly huge corporations like PWE just don't give a damn, all they care about is exclusively the bottom dollar.

However, when you think about it - it's been the "Cryptic way" of doing things all the way along. If something people want to be done or needs to be done, it's a safe bet they'll do the exact oposite and then try to PR spin it into something awesome like politicians.
I'm almost sure soon enough we'll see a PR release stating that "while we're letting go of top talent, we're sure it will improve the overall quality of the game".
Sorry, but Smirk was leagues better than Bran "Let me plaster my face over everything" Flakes. Smirk was much more low key in the personality cult department, but Bran was a control freak that had to have everything revolve around him so he could bask in the praise and admiration of mindless STO players. Good riddance to Bran, good luck to Smirk.
Bran didn't grab ankle for Dental. Odds are, by the end of the year, you'd find yourself saying good riddance to Trev as well...he was still navigating the political waters regarding Dental.
I feel no love-loss for Smirk being gone - assuming he is. I felt he was incompetent at his job. He did not keep us properly informed and I never felt he was passing on our information to the Devs. We were going to other Cryptic forums to get information and that should never happen.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

No, there are still volunteer mods, and LaughingTrendy, who if this is true, is doubtless overworked right now. The staff wasn't even big enough as it was...at the very least more volunteer mods are necessary by far.
