I've crafted and now been upgrading an Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons [CritD x 3) and now got them them to XIV. Oddly, I've noticed on the next potential upgrade (which would take it from Very Rare to Ultra Rare) the stats its suggesting would have it turn out seemingly less than what it is now.
Is this right?
These are the stats -
CURRENT Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons XIV [CritD x 3)
Very Rare
587.2 Antiproton Damage (391.5 DPS)
+90 crit severity
ON NEXT UPGRADE
Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons XIV [??? x 4)
Ultra Rare
574.2 Antiproton Damage (382.8 DPS)
+30 crit severity
This upgrade is suggestion the DHC cannons are going to downgrade in stats? What on earth? Can someone explain this to me or am I misunderstanding? Are the suggested upgrade stats bugged or something?
I noticed this on my phasers. Going from blue to purple made it seem like it does less damage. So I held off until it can be conformed.
I'm reasonably sure its a display error but its a lot of dilithium to gamble.
This is what I'm worried about. I mean, to Upgrade an item, waste that dil and resources and lock it into an inferior stat item than what I have is a horrifying notion. Plus, its saying the current CritD x 3 mod is going to be a ??? x 4 upon upgrade. So I'm getting worse stats and potentially losing a mod for a new one upon Ultra Rare upgrade.
I've noticed this myself in taking things from UR to epic quality and other upgrades to different rarities (I guess I just pay more attention when its going to epic).
It seems to be just a display error as others have stated. When I've gone through with the upgrade and gotten lucky I've still seen a marked increase in stats from other items identical to that of the newly upgraded items previous value.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
Most often these things are just display errors. The prediction always says ???? x4, as that just means it's going to have four mods but it can't predict which mods it'll gain. It'll have the three it currently has plus one more random one. The "lower" damage is likely because it's not taking into account your skills and/or other modifiers that are increasing the damage of your actual weapon. That's why comparing the actual weapon to the prediction looks so funky.
The only way to know for sure is to upgrade the darn thing and see what happens. Pretty much like everything in the game.. there are so many display errors throughout the UI it's ridiculous.
Hmm, and are you checking the stats at system maps?
Because if you are looking at them on ground maps and even in sector space - you are doing it WRONG. Wrong characteristics are shown there since... forever.
And don't forget about upgrading it and it going down in rarity. I upgraded a MK XIII weapon to MK XIV it went from Very rare Purple to rare Blue on that one. Then from what I have heard you have to file a ticket to get the rarity set back to where it was originally, rely on CS to fix it......

Really though, this is almost certainly a display error.

But, this isn't saying there isn't also the possibility, of an actual bug related error either.
It has been known to occur as well and, still does!

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL.
Jesus. Now that really is the worst kind of gamble. I'm terrified to take the item to Ultra Rare now.
