I'm betting someone is about to tell you that it should be an epic journey to level 60, years in the making. Yawn.

I lot of us are wanting them to do something to make the level grind from 50-60 more reasonable. However, they are more focused on making money at this point through selling power creep. That is why they increased the MK XIII and MKXIV weapons damage recently, and didn't bring the MK XII back to where they were a fern weeks before DR launched.
The MK XII are not a big Dil sink like MK XIII and MK XIV weapons are. So they will not fix them.
Likewise, they can't make money off of a reasonable level speed. However, they can make more money off of making weapons that require excessive amounts of Dil more powerful so you go through the individual missions faster that you run constantly to level.
Basically, if there is something that they can milk for money, that is the course they will take. If they can't see profit in it, then they will not bother with it. It is working as intended.

no, 1 to 50 was way to fast you can do it in a day or two... damn it jim it's a mmo not single player
the mission thing is annoying though
this.....what the leveling in this game really needs is to be normalized throughout, maintain the average rate to get from 1-60 "as is" and make it so the leveling is the same whether your pre or post 50
having 2 distinct rates for leveling is disruptive and is just going to cause complications
Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy if they just took the level requirements off the story missions so you can play it straight through.
Because "Reunion" excepted, the actual DR story missions (as in, the ones that aren't patrol filler) are quite well-done.

So far I finally hit Lv55. I hadn't thought getting up to that level wasn't too slow. I just do the missions, patrols, ground action zone, and DOFFs. So far I have only grind very little on my Fed. And he started right into the Delta Rising since he already completed what I wanted before it went live. I only did the patrol and now getting ready to do the mission where you help the Romulan out. Looks like to me I should hit about half with the exp. Then off to do new mission in the ground action zone. Before having to start the grind. Even the grind isn't too bad so far. Since I do different places. And not dragging my self to death over the same place over and over like the others.
Now my KDF is already at Lv52 since he had to finish the Dyson Rep. So his shouldn't be as bad compared to the Fed. And my Romulan, well she is already lv53 and still have a few things to do before hitting Delta Rising stuff. So she will have a cake walk getting up to Lv60.

I'm halfway through 56 now. I'm sort of muddling my way through to 60. There are only a few missions of DR that seem interesting to play. Like the stealth mission where you have to infiltrate a Vaadwaur base. Patrol missions are an instant nope from me. To gain XP i'm going through the list of adventure zone's, PvE's and other stuff that give decent XP. But yes, leveling from 50 to 60 is just too slow as it is now.
After completing the very first mission DR a message came up that just this storyline wasn't going to be enough to level up and that playing other missions and PvE's was recommended. What is the purpose of this? Are they trying to motivate us to play parts of the game that are long abandoned? They somewhat overdid it with that. Just doing the storyline and some other stuff only makes up 1/10 progress for 1 level? It takes me days now just to reach 1 level up.

The main reason was due to lack of content. They didn't want players to blow through them in a matter of hours. Then complain there was lack of content. This is what I think.
However they still complained due to lack of content, and now complain you can't level at a good rate. So they didn't gain much off it.
I will just keep going and maybe they will fix it maybe not? Going by my estimate, it could be a few months before I finally hit Lv60.

I don't mind that the level progression is slow ... I just wish that the story progression were smoother. If there were actual mission/story content all the way from 50-60 I'd have no problem with the progression time. But doing a couple of missions ... grind a -lot- ... do a couple of missions ... grind some more ... that's what bugs me.
1 through 50 is too quick. 50-54 I thought was fine, but beyond that, you have to keep quitting the storyline for far too long.
I think any of my future characters will find it fun - They'll start levelling 50+ long before Delta Rising, so it'll probably work out nicely, its just the ones that had done all content before that are mildly gipped.
I admit its been a long slog. From lvl 50 when DR launched til now getting three characters to 60. I'm not there yet.
I didn't touch the storyline of Delta Rising until I reached lvl 58. I'm hoping that'll be enough to progress through it at leisure without being forced to stop. So far its going well.
I completed every single piece of DR content when my lvl allowed it, run countless STF's every single day, completed countless doff missions and, even completed the entire Delta Rep before even a single toon reached lvl60.
I swear my Doffs have seen more use from 54 onwards than any other time .. I just seem to log in set them to it, log out.. CAant see the point of running the story only to be locked out of it for a while after a missions completed because I have advanced so little in XP..
Did they forget to write enough or did they get the whole balance a bit wrong. (been away for a while)
The first thing that came to my mind when I noticed the slow leveling that it was done to promote the sell of XP Boosters I could be total wrong though

I thought that too but about a week after they changed the leveling to this slow mess they nerfed the XP boosters
Trust me. You were perfectly good at level 50, and you still are. If you do manage to get to level 60, then it happens. But it doesn't NEED to happen. Just continue on as you are.

compared to other MMO's leveling in STO is easy , very easy , not leveling is the issue , is what happens after you level , the endgame is flawed not the way to it.
this expansion seems to be xp starved and to me such a choir to level its starting to bore me sorry to say im not enjoying it as much its a shame im a startrek fan please cryptic increase the xp
It wasn't so bad when you could grind patrols, but now all I can say is I am so glad I made it to 60 before the lock. A revision to the content or xp/level requirement is in order if they plan to keep this setup. But what do I know
We managed to go from 1hr/point to 3 days. A balance somewhere in the middle would probably be a good idea since there are so many to grind.

Can't tell you what you may find fun, but new Toons are basically screwed as well, when it comes to Story Content vs. Level Progression ...
Did an "Experiment" recently :
- Leveld my FED Talaxian from 1-52 with Doff Missions, MU-Event etc ... without touching any Story Content ... after that I basically abandoned him for a few months ... wasn't fun anymore ...
- Then played every Episode within the Journal (Klingon War - Delta Quadrant) during XP Weekend, without turning them in, just yet ...
- After using an old "1h / 20% - XP Boost" on Top of XP-Weekend, I turned in every Episode ..
- as an Talaxian or LTA I should have an additional 5% XP Boost as well ...
Good News : I made it to 60 Bad News : barely (only 1 Bar to "Level 61")
=> There isn't even enough Story Content for Level 52-60 ... I wouldn't mind the XP-Rate, if there would be enough for 1-60 ... but we'd probably need another ~50 Episodes for that ...

Levelling in RPG's, and this IS an RPG, traditionally takes longer the higher a level you are. I find it laughable that people are requesting a level increase or two, everytime they do a mission. As previously stated in another post levelling in STO is outrageously fast compared to other games. This 'Instant Gratification/Generation Entitlement' attitude that people have in this game is beyond unbelievable. You get what you're given, just be happy you're not forced to pay for it! You do not need to have best of everything to play, so don't believe it when people say 'Ooh it's pay-to-win' or 'You MUST have everything at Epic to be competitive'. The game is not PvP centric, so having the best stuff doesn't get you anything extra and having 100k DPS does not equal skill either. Any muppet can read up on the internet about what to equip, and you most certainly don't have to worry about losing things you've paid for or work for months for and you don't need to worry about people attacking you whilst you are off-line'
But here's my point. Levelling to 60 in a month @ 2 hours a day, is too quick. People just don't learn and gain experience enough to justify it. I'd have been happy at 6 months to level 60 @ 2 hours a day. I'd would certainly appreciate the achievement more, and yes, it will have felt like 'a career. Being an Instructor of Martial Arts, let me tell you this, have some patience, you'll feel better for it!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

You do realize it would take another ~3-5 years to complete the Spec Tree, at this pace (the Game doesn't end at "Level 60" btw) ... not sure which MMO's you're playing ... but that'd would be pretty much insane compared to the ones I know (including the one with the 3 Letters :P ) ...
But here's my Point : Video Games are not supposed to be another "Career Choice" ... but if you really wanna grind the same stuff for 6 months @ 2 hours a day, you already have plenty of Options within this game, again it doesn't "end" at LvL 60 ...
Sorry the only feeling I usually get after "being done" in a Videogame is "Meh" ... if I want to be rewarded for patience & hardship I'm going to climb a mountain, or go on a 300 Miles Long Distance Hike ... you know something "real" ...
