Title. Just gathering opinions. using the basic dirt cheap stuff right now, mostly runabouts for ds9 flavor, but I'm looking to get a little more out of them. What do you guys think?

For faction-specific hangar units, I'd never been that impressed with the Fed ones compared to KDF. Only the Yellowstones stand out with their excellent CC but their firepower absolutely sucks.

For Feds, outside of Yellowstone units for CC, I'd go for these non-faction specific ones:

Elite Swarmer - Very fragile but have BO3. Personally, I don't care if they die and even on bonafide 2-hangar carriers, I never bothered having "Wing Commander" trait equipped. You WANT Swarmers to die quickly. Because you want to respawn brand new ones with a fresh copy of BO3 on them.

    Elite Scorpion - Four words:
    "High Yield Torpedo Plasma"

Personally, I prefer Elite Swarmers over Elite Scorpions. I'm not fond of targetable projectiles disappearing before they arrive on target due to enemy AOE attacks. I find the Swarmers to be far more flexible in a variety of combat scenarios. But in Omega STFs, Elite Scorpions really shine.

don't wate your fleet points on yellowstones there buged and a waste

They make your enemy vanish where you cant target them yet they can target you..the whole team

instant fail on something like infected
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

Well you can join the FAWing with Widows, use Yellowstones for CC, Swarmers for spike Overload blasts, or use Delta Flyers to take advantage of the upgrade to Tachyon Beam. Personally I wouldn't go with Scorpions though, just because the game moves way too fast for those slow HYT plasmas anymore (assuming they don't get shot down by AOE stuff anyways).

I have run elite Sorpions, Widows, Paragrins, and Deltas.

I like them all but if I was to rate them It would be.

    1. Deltas. they have the hit points to take a beeting, wich means they can be around longer to put out the DPS and strip shileds.

    2. Paragrins. dont last long but they are Fed and thier cannon ripid fire is more useful then the Scorps HY.

    3. Widows. BFAW and quantiun torps.

    4. Scorpions. thier HY torps move way to slow.

just my personal prefrence. never ran them on a parser.

You underestimate what the Elite Scorpions and Elite Swarmers can do. The idea is that you do not want these to survive for long. You WANT them to be destroyed quickly. Because that means you can launch a fresh batch of them with a fresh, unused copy of HYT1 Plasma/BO3 AP respectively.

Since one isn't concerned about their survival, you don't need to invest in valuable build space (i.e. traits) to make them more survivable. No need to waste a trait slot or the EC for the "Wing Commander" trait nor the Sarr Theln trait. Just let them die quickly and launch a fresh batch, fully charged with HYT1/BO3.

I run Elite Swarmers, I'm pretty happy with them.

They seem to give the biggest overall DPS boost.

I initially picked them just because looking at sample builds, I noticed that most of the top DPS people that did Command Cruiser Builds used Elite Swarmers. After trying them, I can see why.

They do blow up quick, but as said above, that's not always a bad thing. You just spawn a new one with a fresh copy of Overload.

I don't devote any traits to my Pets. They're just there as a bonus, I'm not wasting a trait on them. :D

For the presidio, shield drones are good too. This will let you dedicate more bridge officer skills to damage and less to protection. Depending on your build, this can give your more DPS than you'd lose from swapping out some DPS fighters for the shield drones.

    Do you use them yourself?

I have always wondered how well those worked.. I have never tired them. I had the same thought but was curious how effective they actually were.

Last time I used them their Ai was highly unreliable. Haven't touched them in more then a year but I wouldn't want to rely on them to keep me alive.

I do use them myself, for both (TAC and ENG) fed presidios I fly. I do the reciprocity+all hands+pedal2themetal thing, and generate ALOT of threat to keep reciprocity running (doffed APD, 9 points threat control, 1 or 2 +Th embassy consoles, etc).

I don't use them all the time, but for missions where I'll take alot of damage (HSE, VCE, etc) I will. My builds are between 30 and 40k on the DPS league, so not superawesome but pretty good.

They heal between 200-300 to each facing each second per drone. I keep them on "intercept" and they follow fairly well (even through my Rock and Roll).
