I know, I'm usually one of the people answering questions lately, but here goes.
If I was to dismiss and reclaim a Zen-purchased T5U or T6 ship, on which I have already earned the mastery levels, will it return with the mastery levels intact or cleared? And will this have any impact on the earned T6 starship traits?
I ask because the original blogs seemed to say one thing, but several posts I've seen recently seem to say the opposite.
I know for a fact that once you unlock a Starship trait you keep that even if you dismiss the ship you got it from. As for the ship specific bonuses im not sure but I highly doubt it.

If you dismiss and later reclaim any T6 ship it will came with all its mastery levels as it had at moment you trash it. So you want lost anything, and you still will be able to use its M5 trait even if that ship was dismisses. Not sure about T5-U, but most probably if you dismiss you will have to upgrade it again as you reclaim T5 version not -U.
Unless they changed it from a few weeks ago, if you have a T5-U ship, and drop it, then reclaim it, you will lose the xp after you re-upgrade it.
With the upgrade tokens being overpriced, I was not going to buy any. However, I had some friends that gave a couple to me, so I upgraded one of my Romulan Dreadnaughts (The Scimitar). I fully upgraded it, and two weeks ago accidentally dropped the upgraded one, instead of the Engineering focused ones (Falchion I think).
When I reclaimed it, I lost all the xp it gained, and had to level it back up before the last nerf to xp.
Since the T5-U got screwed on the ship trait, there is no big deal. It is only a few stat boost that were lost. If they were not doing another nerf to xp, I wouldn't have bothered with it.
If it is a T5 ship that you don't fly much, vs a T6 that you don't fly much, I would drop the T6. Since some are saying that you don't lose the trait, and you keep the xp, I would keep the T5, just to prevent you from having to grind to replace all the work you did.
If it is a T6 ship that you use often, vs a T5 that you don't, for me it would depend on how long I am going to use the T5, and why. If it is for RP, then I would drop it, and claim it when I wanted to RP. Other than that, if you have a T6 ship, most of them out perform T5, so I wouldn't go back to one of the T5. I would drop it and forget it.

But you can copy a character to Tribble, try it and let us know what happens.

Also the T5 trait is earned forever.
I wish Lockbox/Lobi ships could be the same...
