Is there a reason the science command battlecruiser doesn't have the science ship abilities?
The Science Odyssey has them as well as the other science ships I've used, so is there a particular reason the Science BC doesn't have them?
Is it an oversight?
I'm referring to the sub system targeting and sensor analysis primarily.
That's the main point of using a science ship after all.
The science oddy originally didn't come with them if I remember right... and probably for the same reason this one doesn't... it's a cruiser not a science ship....
ALso the Oddy doesn't have the ability to slot specilizations like the Command ships do... so it may be a balance issue....

Sci oddy has sensor analysis and cruiser commands, as does the sci bort. They lack the system targeting.
The SCI Command FDC (Flight Deck Cruisers) not having the perks of a Science Vessel is simple.
1. It's not a Science Vessel, i.e. having a Cmdr SCI station. Therefore, it does not get the perks of Sensor Analysis, built-in (long cooldown) Target Subsystem abilities, Secondary Deflector.
2. Of ALL the Non-Science ships that have a LtCdr SCI station, only these have Sensor Analysis:
- SCI version of Bortasqu' (Universal LtCdr)
- SCI version of Odyssey (Universal LtCdr)
- Tal Shiar Adapted DD
- Tal Shiar Adapted BC
Everything else with LtCdr SCI or Universal LtCdr do not even have Sensor Analysis. Even the Recluse with Universal Cmdr doesn't have that. No Carrier has Sensor Analysis. Outside of SCI Vessels, these perks are a closely guarded thing for these ships.
3. The original faction to have Flight Deck Cruisers, the KDF, had these characteristics (originating with the Marauder FDC then later with Fleet Corsair FDC):
Shield and Attract Fire Cruiser Commands
1 Hangar Bay
Zero SCI Vessel perks: No Sensor Analysis, no built in Target Subsystem, no Secondary Deflector.
Even the later FDCs in T5 followed the same formula. It was the same with the Voth Bastion. The same persisted with the Command FDCs.
The command cruisers are basicly flight deck cruisers , much like the orion ships for the kdf.
The Battlecruiser Designation mistly come from their ship mastery package. Other than that they are just cruisers that exchange to cruiser commands for a Hanger.
The Science version is just heavier on science than most cruisers. Lt Cmdr Sci is more than most cruisers get and the LT universal can be used for science too. However doing so cuts the tactical bilities a bit too much imho but some might think otherwise.
Still the Geneva is a beast. A very nice imobilizer (GW1+Supression Barrage)with the friepower of a cruiser is nothing to sneeze at.
I am thinking about the command trio pack but the science does not either have +power to Aux, it has the same +10 power to Weps and Engines. So my Science Toon would get a cruiser but not a kickass science ship.

Battle cruiser with a science twist but a cruiser at heart i.e. favoring boff seat/sci consoles.
(checking stowiki) it even comes with cruiser commands?

I'd lament the loss of Sensor Analysis, but aside from fighting boss ships, things die too quickly for SA to really play a part.
