Delta Recruitment Brainstorming Session

So some of you might be worrying "I don't have an imagination, I already have a white male human FED, a mostly naked orion KDF, and no ROM character at all. What character can I possibly create for my Delta rewards?"

Well this thread (I hope) is the solution. I want to help people create new ideas for ship crews with and without the stated twist of being involved with temporal shenanigans. Join in with your own ideas, it'll make this thread seem less like a pathetic time sink on my part!

So without further ado:

Suggestions (take as needed, add as warranted, modify however)

-An all Pakled crew

-The Romulan Knights of the Round Table (using various helmet options)

-Twelve time-traveling Picard clones and one Riker

-The Nausicaan Pirates of Penzance (all lacking the Pirate trait.)

-The Tribble Preservation Society (sent back in time to save the species so that it continues to exist through 2890 when another probe visits earth and devastates the atmosphere by cooing VERY LOUDLY.)

-Mot the barber's Bolian rough riders.

-Great Ornithologists of history (ROM)

-The N deadly sins (see how far you can go beyond 14 boffs)

-Police Academy (KDF)

And some great suggestions from this thread :)

"The Goa'uld and his merry Jaffa" -Valenn

Red Dwarf crew -Gonalius

The epic of Vorak 5B - Chancellor Mustrum Ridcully

USS Cheers -Stoleviathan

Chuft Captain - MarkHawkman (high five for this reference)

A Veltrassi quartet - Dareau

Mutant, Outer Limits, human with his zippy/stooge cannon fodder - Centaurianalpha
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!

I think one is best off making a Pakled delta recruit. Such an idea gets supported very well by the current crafting system where you need a million tries and still don’t manage to get the mods you want quiet right. He could also search for good things to become stronger in R&D packs.

Solid alternative for me would be to pull a Ferengi gambling addict. You know every bit of EC dedicated to the next lock box kick.

Even though such themed toons seem to get the best back up from Cryptic… wooops PwE my personal dream toon would be an Undine though. Let’s face it, the community is deeply divided the way Cryptic deigned the game. With DR more than ever. Either you fit into some DPS channels for some smooth play or you don’t and are left at the mercy of noobs, trolls and empty queue lists. I think a char who runs through the game saying “The weak will parish” while confronting everybody with some pure elitist ideals would reflect Cryptic’s idea to run a F2P game best.

    The knights who say "Ni!"

The Goa'uld and his merry Jaffa (use the APU cruiser here)
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

Does it count if my Orion is male?

    Here's my approach:
...if I use a bit of headcanon to say that Starfleet is basically so desperate for ship commanders that it's:
    1. Granting minor commands to high-ranking enlisted personnel.
    2. Aggresively recruiting enlisted personell even from non-Federation worlds.

What I'm envisioning is an enlisted crew consisting mostly of members from the NASA counterpart of a species from the Delta Quadrant, just barely warp-capable, who were approached by Starfleet for volunteer recruits. They're given a month or two of training, granted enlisted commissions, and then plunged into the deep end as soldiers and peacekeepers in a war-torn galaxy.

At present I have 15 characters and I feel I'm running out of viable options. In the last 4 months I made four more; I don't like the grind and prefer the new characters. I really thought I'd hit the end of what I considered were the tropes I wanted to address.

The beginning was easy With Klingon KDF members and Human Starfleet officers. Over time I added in a Joined Trill, a fed Klingon, A Ferasan, some Romulans, a Talaxian, and an alien and on.

    Rather than grind I wanted to play with characters I liked that I thought were cool to look at (I'm terrible at all facets of the game incidentally). Having hit what I thought was critical mass I made the characters that were more over the top; the ones with temporal origins;

ENT, "Cold Station 12": Doane was a security scheif at a Cold Station 13 attacked by the Romulans at the onset of the Romulan Earth War who placed herself in cold sleep as the station failed (an Alien Ripley nod as well).

TNG "The Emissary": wah'maH loS was a warrior placed into Cold Sleep in 2290 like the crew of the I.K.S. T'Ong. A debris strike rerouted the sleeper ship and sent it into deep space wher eit was assimilated by the borg.

TOS: No particular ep I just wanted an excuse to put a captain, Halford in a TOS uniform and fly around in a Constitution. A legitimate case of temporal displacement The USS Mariner was lost with all hands investigating an unknown anomaly in 2286. I know the uniform wasn't correct for the period but I like it and the Connie.

The time crossed characters were the ones I left to the end. Hindsight being 20/20 I wish I was making any one of them now. I'm running out of time stories and running up quite a lot of them so I think I'll try and go with a temporal agent along the lines of Daniels unless someone would give me a really cool suggestion I could work from. Thanks.

I don't have access to the BOff's, but I wouldn't mind setting up a Red Dwarf crew. Human male, android, hologram, and Ferasan/Caitian.

Look out Earth, the slimes coming home!

How about a Vulcan Science Officer? The world is missing one. :(

Ideally find something new, something that isn't T'Pol, Tuvok or Spock. Mine I decided to style a bit differently from most Vulcans we've seen - lighter hair, bearded (well, that's Mirror Spock, I guess).

I think I already know I want another Science character. I want to have a Science character for the Pathfinder, the Scryer and the Vesta. But what species and gender?

    ----
    Maybe a Vorta?
Something went wrong in the Dominion cloning facility C-555-86782, and suddenly there were two Vorak clones activated when there should be only one. No problem. Vorak 5B (originally intended as Vorak 6) would just report to the nearest airlock. But Vorak 5B didn't like that order, and decided to run for it, using his special agent programming to the best of his ability. He was almost captured, but Vorak 5 let him go. Eventually, Vorak (5B) managed to smuggle himself through the Wormhole. The Founders are gods, he knows this with every fibre of his being ,and he has to serve them. What better way to do it than becoming an officer in one of the Dominion's rivals, learning everythnig there was to learn, and either serve as a bridge for improving relations, or as a spy and saboteur should diplomacy fail. Just need to convince those skeptical officers in the recruitment bureaus.

Back when the game launched, I had a Golden Girls-inspired crew I was running as alts, as a reaction against the stereotypical crew I was seeing at the time.

I am seriously considering launching the U.S.S. Greendale or U.S.S. Cheers this time. Naturally, any resemblance to anything anywhere may be purely coincidental.

I have been thinking in any case that since they added the bald "horseshoe" haircut look I've been requesting since launch that maybe the time has come to go for a crew a bit quirkier (and with some middle aged members) than the "all square jawed"/"youthful" thing I see a lot of.

I have aliens very well accounted for on my main and more than enough young and fit types. I may be on the verge of having a no-human crew of athletes there. I'm leaning towards something with more humans, more ethnic diversity, and more age diversity.

Unless Delta Recruits come from Delta Quadrant races.

I HAVE been toying with the idea of a crew from all disliked species. Maybe a Talaxian captain, Ferengi Tac, Pakled Doctor, etc.

How about a crew based on the lord of the rings, with the player as Frodo and your boffs as the rest of the fellowship? Or the 'coffin dodgers', with everyone being as old as you can make them. I like the goa'uld/jaffa idea that was mentioned earlier using the APU ship too.

My Alien Science alt is currently as close to Aquaman as I could get him. There are far too many clone characters - everyone looks the same in this game.

Might make a DS9 inspired crew; I used to have a Sisko char way back, so it isn't out of the realms of possibilities..

Then again, I could make it a mirror universe DS9 crew, in the KDF...
Fed: Eng Lib Borg (Five) Tac Andorian (Shen) Sci Alien/Klingon (Maelrock) KDF:Tac Romulan KDF (Sasha) Tac Klingon (K'dopis)

I might just make a ragtag group of space buccanneers flying under the kdf flag:

ship: The Flying Targ (flies rainbow as its gear is bought at auctions/ransacked)

    Captain: Captain Kap'tn, Aliengen human
Number 1: Borgface Mcreedy, infected skin (race undecided)
Number 2: K'gan (made to look like klingon space hulk hogan)
    Doctor: Doctor Coc' Syx

Hah, neither does mine. Not going to delete him, though - it was hard enough to get him in a Jem'Hadar ship in the first place.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

I think I'll finally make an Alt out of my Andorian First Officer, and give her a very quirky bridge crew.

Straightlaced by the book type as the center of a bunch of people with problems.

Although I might make her an alien rather than full andorian so I can have more appearance options in the future

Hah that's exactly what I'm doing! Think most of her crew will be the free unusual boffs like the Jem Hadar one. I've already been playing on my main as if she'd been promoted and had her own crew in my escort so it works well with my headcannon.

Ofcourse now that I think about it, I recall that my Vorta captain does like to use the same 5 crewmen saved in the transporter buffer to staff every post on his ship. It's not perfect, but until you backwards savages in the Alpha Quadrant develop a properly running army staffed by heavily engineered and highly expendable test tube babies and administered by painstakingly backed up and preserved clones, it's the best he can do.

Hehe, I didn't bother with trying to think of tropes first. I just came up with ideas and let the tropes fall where they may.

Melati Kusumu: Fed alien(Orion/Kriosian refugee from the Empire)
Beltran: KDF Orion(marauder who is more pirate than military officer)
Meghan Eridian: Fed Alien(Vorta from the Mirror universe, kinda like a Vorta Augment actually, but since it was the Terrans who cloned her she doesn't really think of the Founders as anything....)
Chuft: Fed Caitian(Kzinti, for some unspecified reason he hates Klingons, to the extent that he chose to join Starfleet and fight them)
Drexela: Fed Joined Trill(/Lib Borg, yeah... she got joined after being liberated Why? erm... dunno)
7 of 13: Fed Lib Borg(Terminator, a displaced individual from an unknown(to the Federation) universe, he got assimilated before the Feds saw him, so they don't really understand what he was BEFORE being assimilated)
Monica Rappaccini: Fed Human(with her own non-Borg cybernetics, she's a bit of a mad scientist)
    Carnlan Rixx: Fed Bolian
    Sekkoth: FED Vulcan(/Romulan)
Diaula: RRF Romulan(one of those who took the loss of the HW badly, but didn't blame the Feds for it.)
Emani: RRK Lib Borg Romulan(uses TOS outfits since she was born back then)
Soheth: RRF Alien(no idea, I never figured out what she was I just had fun making something weird looking... and purple.)

Wondering if I should "really" do up the one Starfleet Battles race I've been itching to rip off...

Veltrassi, quad linked variety, based out of the aliengen template...

Think of a Talosian, possibly a bit taller. Skin tones more purple than gray, all white uniform (thinking TMP in all white with the TOS "medal triangles" as rank insignia).

Then make 3 BOffs all look identical, same name (and an added number/code to foil the identical name filter). Away Team consists of the four "quadruplets" with a redshirt(?) / Exec. as the fifth member...

My luck, though, I'll roll up a generic Rom, hook up with the KDF, and play. Already got 2x Fed Scis, Fed Tac & Engie, 2x KDF scis, KDF tac, low-level KDF engie, Fed-Rom Tac & Sci, with a KDF-Rom Engie rounding out the "main" collection. Since I love Sciences for some reason, KDF-Rom Sci would be the next one on my list...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

What were those crazy cardassian scientists attempting to achieve?
Who would cross Cardassian and Jem'Hadar genes? How could you improve on perfection (would any Cardassian or any Jem'Hadar ask?)
Did they want Jem'Hadar that would think of the Cardassians as their gods, not the Founders?
Did they want to create the perfect Cardassian soldier, utterly loyal, efficient, ruthless and powerful and entirely dependent on its superiors?
Was it an just attempt to turn the Jem'Hadar into great conversationalist?

The Federation security team that captured the illegal genetic lab would never find out. The Cardassians had destroyed all data on their experiments before they fled.

But they left behind their creation, Rinara. Cardassian and Jem'Hadar genes were not the only mateiral used for the lone survivor on the station. But they were clearly phenotypically dominant.

There were advantages, certainly. Discipline came natural to Rinara. She was certainly extremely intelligent. Physically strong.. Of course, there were also the bad aspects. Cardassian + Jem'Hadar phenomology is not that nice to behold, if one is comletely honest. The dependency on Ketracel White was more than an inconvenience. The desire to hear herself talk may have seen extreme even for most Bolians and Cardassians, but it could be considered harmless.

What other features and traits remained hidden during the countless interrogations, medical tests, psychological evaluations? Sure, the - quite subtle set up holodeck simulation did not show any Founder or Cardassian worshipping tendencies, no hidden mental proggramming. But... we probably don't know all yet. Maybe some traits will surface, now, that against all odds, Rinara earned herself an officer commission and is leaving the Academy.
