Erm. Also at no point were lower tiered ships EVER considered endgame, take SO much effort/resource to acquire nor be promised not to become obsolete when DR came out. So take your comparison and stick it where the sun doesn't shine...
Enjoy playing on the server all by yourself when all the players who are sick and tired of being treated like disposable tissues leave and spend their money elsewhere. If you believe all the "healthy and growing" bulls hit the devs tell you then you are as stupid as your post suggests.
While you may enjoy zipping around in an escort, not everyone does. I own in excess of thirty box ships; like you, I spent tons of resources getting them. But the problem you open up is, "Where does it stop? Where is the line drawn?"
Once you begin making allowances for one ship, everyone demands the same...and then you end up with an over-powered community that finds more reasons to complain. I feel a little of the sting too, but then I realize...there's another way. Further, you find better ways to improve what you've got.
Get T6 ships, level them to get the Starship Trait, then use those on your T5-U bug. If a player is that good a player, they'll see the challenge in it and find new ways to make it better.
If we start down the "I want the new toy too" mentality, it has no end to the slippery slope we end up on.

I wanted to take a moment to respond to the concerns over the blog text from last year that mentioned that the T5 Jem’Hadar Attack Ship would be upgradable to T6 capability. That blog was originally written and released before the introduction of the concept of T5-U ships, so while we meant it could get upgraded to T5-U we couldn’t outright mention this new type of ship at that time. When we released the chart that explained which ships would receive the free upgrade to T5-U, the Jem’Hadar Attack Ship was listed among their ranks. We will be correcting the incorrect text from the original blog, and I would like to personally apologize for the misinformation.
I hope I’ve helped to clear things up, and I will continue to work towards improving our communication with everyone in the community.

Folks, did you miss the immediate response from the EP? And a response open to what the player base says, not a condescending excuse-laden load like the previous EP.
If you're going to vehemently (that's means all pissed off for those without a dictionary) respond to everything, find another place to flame a forum. If the EP is communicating and taking positive steps, work with him, not against him.
This is predominantly an adult game...because the kids don't have the patience for it, or the love of Trek lore. Let's act like adults as things change.
Finally, if you have a problem...have a solution too. Mindless complaints are just that...mindless.

My suspicion has always been that the blog post was written inaccurately (not maliciously) at a time when the upgrade details were still being worked out. And I appreciate the improved communication under your tenure––it's noticeable and very welcome.
But the blog was written that way. And people handed over money in exchange for the assurance Cryptic/PWE improvidently made. There needs to be some kind of real fix for that.
To be clear, I had won a Jem Hadar Attack Ship. Got it in one of the first Christmas Gift Boxes I ever opened (when it was originally released). Sold it for a ton of EC before they capped the Exchange at 500M EC. Haven't regretted it even once.
I'm 100% OK with "gamble"-ships like the original Bug and this new Strike. I have to admit when they first came out, I was a little resistant to the method, but I've become accustom to the game updates that support allows, and learned I don't need that kind of OP-ness to play the way I like to play, so I now approve of that type of game income.
That being said, what Salami is trying to shovel is fantastic fertilizer of the highest grade. If they want to admit that they're changing their policy, then that would be one thing (also bad, but at least honest), but to alter what people accepted to be the intent/spirit of what that blog meant by originally saying "T6 capability" and try to re-write the intention as "Well, we really meant T5-U", is bunked-up revisionist history. I specifically remember posts from Devs saying they wanted to assure people that the Bug would be made T6 when DR was released in order to keep the value of that special ship during that last pre-DR event.
Oi.
>shakes head in shame at Cryptic<
What a sad move. Shame on you. Shame.
How hard could it be to just make the Bug a true T6? Give it a a little extra HP, maybe shield, add an extra console and/or BO slot, access to Intel or Cmd powers, and slap on a 5th Mastery Trait. I figure the last would be the most difficult, but I would be surprised they don't already have a couple traits waiting around for ships (maybe even one or two that otherwise "don't make the cut" that they could "dump" here).
And really! What harm would it do? You'd have happy customers, or at least customers that aren't going to be enraged by this bulljive bait'n'switch you're trying to play as a mistake. The Strike would still be better/chased (if only for having BOTH Intel and Cmd access). C'mon guys, follow Wheaton's Law, why dotcha?

The fact is, everyone knew what they were getting by spending those "hundreds of thousands" of dollars, the ability to use a virtual ship inside a video game.
Did you honestly think that sooner or later, that ship wouldn't be outdated?
Did you not realize this when you saw that you get a new Tier of ship each level?
Did you not think that, maybe, some day, the level cap would increase?
Did you not get a tight feeling in your stomach when you saw that they released a T6 Intrepid, that perhaps the games biggest money making prize wouldn't get the same treatment?
Did you honestly think you were...special? Above the "unwashed masses" that didn't own your special little prize?

Mr Ricossa,
you do realise that this is actually false advertising and is considered a crime in many countries ?
That blog was written just a few days before the launch of the T5-U ships.
Do you really expect us to believe that you didn't know excactly what the concept of the T5-U and T6 ships was going to be just days before you put those ships into the game ?
just my 2 cents... but it clearly shows how you think of your customers. (you know, those idiots that actually spend their money to make sure you can be paid at the end of each month...)
whats the point of editing an old document... time marches on and things change.
should just put what was said in that document into perspective.
old info was before T5U was announced, that was done due to the uproar over T6 ships with the new level cap/expansion.
Document said lock box ships would get upgrades to T6 capabilities... and that was done via free upgrades to T5U.
Promise was fulfilled... new bug ship is a new ship.
if/when there is another level increase and we get t7... all this will just repeat.
should never of offered T5U in the 1st place imo. old top end gear is no longer top end as game releases more expansions and the level cap increases, fact for every mmo.
There is probably some legal issues regarding this kind of thing depending on certain country's laws, as the original wording may have bolstered sales by being misleading. Accidental or not, I think Cryptic made a big booboo this time.

SHAME ON YOU!
lets discard Attack Ship which cost 100e.. yeaa..
Just saw the JHSS Console listed in chat. And it can be slotted on all Jem'Hadar ships! You may just wanna hang on to that Bug ship a wee bit longer: she may still have life in her yet.

EULA's aren't always legally binding according to some country's laws and don't absolve companies from all country's laws. EULA's don't always hold up in court either. I think if someone was mad enough and decided to go legal on them, they'd be in some trouble.

At no point in the history of STO were we able to take a low tiered ship and UPGRADE it to a higher tier. Then or now. And longtime players in STO are surprised by this? Really?
I sure would have like to have taken a few of those lower tiered ships into later tiered status but the responses around here were to "Eat it" and get over it.
Well, I now say to you all: "Eat it."
"Eat it," and get a new ship like everyone else has to. You got your pretty little pony before. Fine. You're not entitled to even more benefits after that.
Too bad, so sad.
Edit: To all the sobbing JHAS guys, I'm sure the T5U Intrepid players are amused by your anger and feelings of being solely picked on.
They actually HAVE upgraded older lockbox ships in the past !
When the JHAS was originally released, it had only 4 tac consoles. Whit the introduction of the fleet ships, they gave ALL excisting lock box ships a FREE upgrade in the form of an extra console slot.

You think changing it now matters ? Really ?
The point is you could have changed it the moment you decided T5-U was what it was getting. Which clearly happened before the promo ended... and while the promo page with the t6 info still a front page item.
There where also threads like this one on the forums at the time....
No one came in and said... oh hey guys we have seen some misinformation here let us clear it up and edit the blog page.
I mean read this random post from that thread, and then tell me you guys didn't make money you shouldn't have off that promo. Its this type of stuff that makes players honestly hate you guys.
Now though months later, and at a point where you want to sell more ships once again and need I guess a sales bump for the end of the quarter. You will try and put this out with an edit to a blog post advertising a promo that has been over for 9 months. Was it the general outrage... or the quoting of Legal Statues your company was in violation of that had you think EDIT ya EDIT will work.
PS in case you didn't notice... your edit 9 months later has annoyed me as much as anything that has happened previously.
