Base power levels of warbirds only 160?

This is something I noticed today:
On all of my characters' federation and klingon ships, the *base* power levels add up to 200. But on my romulans in warbirds, the base power levels only add up to 160. Is this a bug, or "working as intended"?

(Wrong subforum, hopefully a mod will move)

Yes Rom ships get less energy. Thats the tradeoff for their advantages in cloaks, singularity powers, and BOFFs. Its very much working as intended.

yep a romulan can hop in any alien ship and not have these power drawbacks... working as intended?

    major oversight imo

And, magically, when they hop into an alien ship, they lose their fancy cloaks and singularity powers.

    How convenient!

    It's not an oversight.

The Romulans gain singularity powers from their Singularity Warp cores.

Only Romulan ships use Singularity Cores, no Alien Ship does. Alien ships use Anti-Matter Warp Cores.

The singularity powers are part of Romulan ships, not a power of the Romulan Captain. Therefore, when a Romulan is not in a Romulan ship they do not have Singularity Powers nor do they have the drawback of power reduction.

A Romulan in an Alien Ship with an Anti-Matter Warp Core has 200 Power Level and no Singularity abilities.

what about them traits and them boffs? still a major oversight imo

even when (if ever) i obtain these romulan boffs for the tactical slots on my breen carrier, my 5 year old fed will still have about half the crit rating of my 1 yr old rommie (same gear)

hell i got a lvl 18 rommie with as much crit as my fed main..

no matter what you are waaaay better off with a romulan captain if you intend to use these alien ships.

even if your fed has 2 pirates and 3 romulan embassy boffs, after ALL that work getting that you will still be 2 sro and a ro trait behind forever! :)

i know this horse is dead i cant help it

I used to be bothered by the SRO, but then I got over it.

I lost the DPS race the second I chose Sci on the character select screen. I learned my lesson chasing DPS when I rolled KDF tac because of the DPS envy. I even liked my Orion. I don't like Romulans at all. If I were to bust tail to level and gear a Romulan just to do more damage then I already do, I'll sit and stare at it and not play it because I love my main.

Tho sometimes I wish I had a Scimitar... I always loved that ship.

Edit: To be fair, if KDF had been treated a little more Equal, I'd likely still be a KDF main. I like Sci best, but Orion Tac was damned fun, just i finally got bored with nothing to do. Don't know how it is now, but it's too late I've invested way, way too much in my Sci now to catch up on anything else.

    Romulans have SRO BoFFs..

Feds get all the best ship traits.. like Reciprocity...

    Romulans have the Scimitar..

Feds have every other great ship..

The only one that has any reason to be upset is the KDF Faction. They get completely and totally neglected by the Dev team.

Feds still have it best, Romulans aren't that far behind.. KDF can get a Plasmonic Leech on a C-Store ship and have absolutely nothing else.

Anytime you feel your faction is getting the shaft, make a Klingon. Then you'll see what neglect truly means.

    Oh?

As far as i remember KDF ships could own just about anything a fed could fly. Their ships are so perfectly suited for pvp they don't really have to change their tactics and you'll watch one by one as your team get's snipped by alpha strikes.

Out of all the federation ships only a hand full are actually good for pvp / pve most are just useless. So if you want to trade ships i'm all in. Give me a box full of useful kfed ships and i'll give you a warehouse of useless federation ships. Welcome to the needle in the hay stack.

And when it comes to power sources does it really matter? I can't actually tell you how much power my Phantom has. It has so much power it's basically a floating Chernobyl. You could make you build so efficient with so many skills, consoles, and abilities you will surpass 160-200-250 who knows. I do know this i have more then 125 to weapons and all my power levels stay north of 80. In an escort.
